Latest On The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships have not been on WWE programming since May when the champs Sasha Banks and Naomi were indefinitely suspended.

On air, it was stated that there would be a tournament to crown new champions but those words came and went quickly one week later and fans haven’t heard anything since.

According to Fightful Select, fans haven’t heard anything because there are no current plans.

Fightful states –

“Talent that we’ve spoken to said that they’ve received no word of when or if the tag team title tournament will actually happen. Even beyond that, they claim that they’ve heard no discussion regarding the tag team titles whatsoever since that announcement.”

WWE continues to have no tag team division with the only glimpse of one team currently on the main roster – Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. They faced Alexa Bliss and Asuka on the July 11 episode of Raw in a losing effort. That was the first time that Bliss and Asuka had teamed up recently.

Natalya, who was with Shayna Baszler for a couple of months, has seemingly broken away from Baszler and been placed in the SmackDown Women’s Title picture. Prior to that, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan were separated when Ripley turned on Morgan and would eventually join The Judgment Day. Morgan & Bliss teased a tag team but since then, Morgan became SmackDown Women’s Champion and moved to the blue brand.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles were first crowned to Sasha Banks & Bayley in February 2019. Since then, a total of 10 teams have held the gold.

The only women’s tag gold that is in the company currently is in NXT. Cora Jade & Roxanne Perez just defeated Toxic Attraction last week to become the new champions.

If anything further is discussed on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, Diva Dirt will provide the update as it comes out.
