All Elite Wrestling’s first show is rapidly approaching and their roster continues to grow. The newest addition to the women’s division is “The Librarian”, Leva Bates.
Cody Rhodes who serves as the Executive Vice President of AEW broke the news on his Twitter account. Bates is a great addition to the roster. She is well known on the independent scene. Notably, she was a former Shine Tag Team Champion, as well as a Shimmer Tag Team Champion.
There’s some confusion surrounding “The Librarian” gimmick. On this week’s episode of Being The Elite, Cody along with Kenny Omega couldn’t see this gimmick going to a male talent. However, Matt Jackson disagreed and felt that Peter Avalon would fit the role. So, there were two concurrent Librarian announcements.
As an enhancement talent with WWE, she went by the nickname Blue Pants, who “hailed from the clearance rack” during her stint in NXT. Bates entered into a feud with Carmella.
Originally she came up on the losing end in this rivalry but she was able to pick up a win. Other opponents Bates faced included future women’s champions Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, and Nia Jax. She emerged as a crowd favorite during this short time despite being an unsigned talent.
