Liv Morgan Retains Championship Against Vega! Zoey Stark Earns Final Spot in MITB

Welcome back to Monday Night Raw and last night was the go home show for Money in the Bank! Unfortunately we do not have a Women’s World Title match on the card but we do have a title defense between Zelina Vega vs. Liv Morgan to recap as well as the final MITB qualifier! Let’s get to it below:

Women’s World Title Match: Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega

Vega starts out strong with a springboard armdrag. Morgan’s offense was cut short by a dropkick to the floor as Dominik Mysterio arrived, causing a distraction. Vega capitalized with a Meteora, Rey Mysterio appears to continue both stories.

Returning from a break, Morgan executed Three Amigos and applied Rhea Ripley‘s Prism Trap. Zelina hits a moonsault for a near fall. Morgan countered with a hurricanrana, never letting Dirty D he’s on her mind during the title bout. Vega hits  a big Code Red, but Morgan escapes before Zelina can capitalize. Rey’s intervention led to Morgan hitting him with a baseball slide. Vega’s 619 into a tornado DDT got a two-count. Dominik’s throws a chair into the ring with Morgan capitalizing on the distraction, hitting Oblivion for the win.

Winner: Liv Morgan

The match focused more on the dynamic between Morgan and Dominik, but I thought Zelina looked good and her near falls were believable enough to have me invested. Morgan and Dominik remain the show’s highlights, with anticipation building for future events. Post match interview with Cathy Kelly, Liv Morgan Revenge Tour is going as planned with Liv dedicating her victory to her “daddy,” Dominik Mysterio

MITB Qualifying Match: Dakota Kai vs. Ivy Nile vs. Zoey Stark

Final qualifying match, all of these matches have been a treat to watch with this being no different. Lots of kick exchanges happening between competitors, interestingly enough all the participants of the triple threat are members of tag teams that play the Janetty role in their respective groups, so it’s great to see each of them get a chance to shine. Damage CTRL looks to interfere on Kai’s behalf cue The Unholy Union to come out and get revenge from the prior attack. Distraction allows Zoey to hit the Z360 on Kai for the win.

Winner: Zoey Stark

I know a lot of people, including myself, were hoping for a Dakota win here but the match furthered the storyline they’re telling between two teams in the tag division while pushing Zoey forward. Good stuff all around.

This now has the total MITB field set: IYO SKY, Chelsea Green, Lyra Valkyria, Tiffany Stratton, Naomi, and Zoey Stark.

Liv/Zelina isn’t done yet for the evening. As Liv comes to cheer on Dominik in his match against Rey later in the night, she ends up getting into an altercation with Zelina at ringside. Potentially a mixed tag team match next week?

Damage CTRL being interviewed backstage and Kai is not happy after her loss and here is Lyra Valkyria to make it worse. They exchange words before Kayden and Katana charge in as a brawl ensues that is quickly broken up.

Final Raw going into MITB was pretty good, I know a lot of us were hoping Dakota would be the last to qualify but Zoey is tailor fit for these types of matches. Plus having the chip on your shoulder of something to prove always produces entertaining results. Hopefully Kiana gets a more prominent role on the show coming out of MITB.

Not much continuity with the Shayna/Zoey/Sonya stuff either and Nattie didn’t appear but all in all a good go home show. Sound off in the comments with who you think will win this Sunday!
