This past month it was reported that Lucha Underground will be making its debut on Netflix, originally thought to premiere in February. Now Lucha Underground and Entertainment Weekly are officially announcing a premiere date of March 15 for Seasons One and Two of the series!
This news makes Lucha Underground the first televised wrestling series to make its way to the streaming service. Before WWE invested in its own streaming platform, Netflix hosted several of its countdowns and documentary series but never Raw or SmackDown episodes.
Lucha Underground is currently in its third season, on its mid-season hiatus.
Rumors also suggest that Season Four will begin filming this fall, once Season Three returns on May 31. El Rey Network is also looking to pick up more episodes for the Season Four run.
El Rey Network is currently airing blocks of Greatest Hits of the show every Wednesday until Season Three returns.
Stay tuned for more information about Season Three’s return and what to expect for Season Four.
