We reported on Monday that Asuka escaped what could have been a very serious injury. During a SmackDown live event this past Monday night, Asuka landed wrong after Mandy Rose hit a double underhook facebuster on the SmackDown Women’s Champion. The match had to be stopped following a no contest and Asuka left the arena holding her head and neck.
Thankfully, Asuka was not injured, but the fans in attendance were in fear. Rose took a lot of backlash on social media from those saying it was her fault while others said Asuka took the move wrong. Regardless of who was at fault, professional wrestlers risk putting their bodies on the line every night.
After the event, Rose was interviewed by Talk Sport and commented on the accident with Asuka.
“I was in my hometown, it was really great to be home,” Rose said. “I had about 30 people – friends and family – there that were all front row. I had all my nieces and nephews and it was really amazing to have them all there. Of course, not everything always goes according to plan and accidents happen.
“So, unfortunately, there was a little accident and we took the proper precautions and thankfully, Asuka is fine and she’s doing OK. You know, stuff happens. You can’t dwell on it, you just gotta move on.”
Rose and Asuka will have a rematch this Sunday at the Fastlane pay-per-view for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
