This past week on SmackDown Live, Mandy Rose had a backstage segment with her tag team partner Sonya Deville. During the segment, she let her Fire and Desire companion know that they will have a match against The IIconics next week. Simple enough, right?
What made this announcement awkward was that Deville asked Rose if the match was going to be for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. She said yes, however, she followed her positive remark with saying if they win they will be deserving of a tag team title match. So will the match be for the titles or not?
In an interview with UPROXX, Rose clarified the aforementioned confliction of words between her and Deville.
“It got a little confusing,” Rose admitted. “Sonya got confused and thought it was a title match, and then I tried to correct her: If we win we get a title match. So next week, as of now, we’re supposed to be competing against the IIconics, and if we win we earn an opportunity for a title match.”
There have been prior rumors that there may be a triple threat match for the tag titles at SummerSlam, perhaps on the Kickoff Show. The match is said to be The IIconics facing both Fire and Desire and The Kabuki Warriors.
As of now, SummerSlam has two women’s matches scheduled for the biggest event of the summer. Charlotte Flair mentioned she will be having a match as of last weeks SmackDown. It is being rumored that she will be facing Trish Stratus. There is a possibility that there may be four women’s matches for this years SummerSlam.
