Mel (also known as Melanie Cruise) has had her profile removed from the AEW website. Mel, who debuted for the promotion at the end of 2019, hasn’t appeared for AEW since a Dark match in August 2020 against Red Velvet. She was brought in as a part of The Nightmare Collective with Brandi Rhodes, Awesome Kong, and Luther. The stable was quickly ended when it was received poorly by fans.
At the beginning of July, Fightful Select reached out to AEW to check on the status of Mel on the roster. They reported the following at that time:
There have been a lot of people asking about an update on Melanie Cruise after it was revealed that Awesome Kong and Shanna weren’t renewed. Melanie hasn’t been used, isn’t factored into imminent creative plans, and has not been around backstage of late. We’ve reached out to AEW officials, who do not usually return inquiries about contract status. We’ve been told that Melanie has been successful in her day job and is doing well outside of wrestling.
Mel has worked for several indie promotions before AEW, most notably RPW, SHIMMER, and Rise. She is currently slated to challenge Allysin Kay for the AAW Women’s Championship at Savages & Kings on Aug. 7.
This event will also have a contender’s match in a Triple Threat – Christi Jaynes vs. Jody Threat vs. Skye Blue.
