Mercedes Martinez reports to the WWE Performance Center *Updated*

Update: On The Satin Sheet which aired breaking news on WWE Backstage, Ryan Satin announced that Mercedes Martinez is making her debut on NXT this week. She is being added into the Battle Royal with 11 other women to determine Rhea Ripley’s next opponent. If she wins then she will face the champion at NXT TakeOver: Portland on Feb. 16.

It was previously reported that veteran indie star Mercedes Martinez has signed with WWE. It wasn’t confirmed by either party – until now. WWE has announced the newest Performance Center recruits which for the women include Martinez and Emily Andzuli.

Martinez posted on her Twitter her official WWE photo with a caption saying that she is where she is supposed to be in this moment and she has worked 19-years for this. She is listed on the announcement on WWE.com under her real name, Jazmin Benitez.

Jazmin Benitez, a veteran grappler known worldwide as Mercedes Martinez, is no stranger to the WWE Universe. She made it to the semifinals of the inaugural Mae Young Classic in 2017 and returned for the second edition of the tournament in 2018. She’s also competed on NXT television on several occasions.

Martinez has collected a lot of gold over the years including the main titles for such organizations as SHINE, SHIMMER, and RiSE.
