ROH housed its Death Before Dishonor event over the weekend taking place at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. The ROH Women’s World Title was on the line as Mercedes Martinez defended the gold against Serena Deeb. The two veterans of their craft went over 17-minutes before Martinez would retain.
The final sequences had Deeb continue to target the injured left knee of Martinez before applying an ankle lock. Martinez was able to roll through and slammed her opponent into the middle turnbuckle. The champion followed up with a super kick on Deeb before executing a Razor’s Edge Faceslam earning her a near fall. Martinez would finally get the victory after locking in the Romero Special Dragon Sleeper causing Deeb to tap out.
Martinez has been champion since May when she defeated Deonna Purrazzo on an episode of AEW Dynamite. After the match, Deeb and Martinez would embrace showing the code of honor.
Also on the Death Before Dishonor preshow Zero Hour, Willow Nightingale defeated Allysin Kay. Nightingale would put Kay away after hitting a cannonball before a Gut-Wrench Bomb for the pinfall victory.
