The January 14th edition of NXT didn’t disappoint, lots of women’s content as per the usual with NXT, let’s dive in!
NXT Women’s North American Championship #1 Contender’s Match
Opening the show with flair, Shotzi and Stephanie Vaquer delivered a technical masterclass with bursts of high-speed offense. The match began with a cautious exchange as both competitors felt each other out. Shotzi locked in a wristlock early, but Vaquer reversed into a smooth counter, showcasing her springboard agility. The back-and-forth was so crisp it felt like a tutorial on counter-wrestling.
Shotzi took control with an enzuigiri and hit a corner leg scissors, hanging over the ropes for a dramatic four-count. A crossbody followed for two, but Vaquer answered with a dragon screw and legscissors that slammed Shotzi’s head into the mat—a creative use of aggression as we headed into the break.
Returning from commercial, Shotzi hit a jaw-dropping superrana, earning a near-fall that had the crowd buzzing. Vaquer regained control with a hiptoss into the corner and a brutal double knees follow-up. Just as the match reached its crescendo, interference reared its chaotic head. Jacy Jayne’s distraction led to Fallon Henley nailing Vaquer with the belt, leaving Shotzi to secure the win via roll-up. The match was excellent, even if the finish felt like the chaotic cherry on top of an already wild sundae.
Winner: Shotzi
Sol offered Kelani some sage advice after last week’s loss, but Cora Jade had to ruin the moment. She’s the queen of snide remarks, claiming she’d already be #1 contender without Kelani holding her back. Kelani responded with a slap that felt years in the making.
In a moment of levity, Ashante decided it was finally time to woo Karmen, gifting her a rose. Karmen’s “About damn time!” was the perfect cap to this charming interaction.
The NXT Women’s Champion Giulia is living her best life, and the spotlight package on her title win last week cemented her status as a global superstar. Giulia thanked fans for their support and promised to bring “Beautiful Madness” to her reign. With challengers lining up, it’s clear Giulia isn’t just ready for the pressure—she’s thriving in it.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Match
This tag team clash was pure chaos, with both teams throwing everything they had into the mix. Jakara and Alba started with quick exchanges, showcasing Jakara’s athleticism against Alba’s precision. Lash Legend’s sheer power came into play when she splashed Isla in the corner and nailed a wheelbarrow slam on Alba.
The match escalated with Isla and Alba employing underhanded tactics, including a boot choke and brutal double teams. Lash’s resilience stole the show—her fallaway slam and flapjack combos were a masterclass in dominance. Jakara added flair with a standing twisting senton for a close two-count, but the Unholy Union’s viciousness kept the match balanced.
The finish saw Lash and Jakara pull off a wheelbarrow slam/facebuster combo, securing a decisive victory. Bonus points for the commentary acknowledging Masha Slamovich’s presence—could a TNA/NXT crossover be brewing.
Winner: Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson
Kelani Jordan vs. Cora Jade
Kelani’s fire and determination were on full display in this hard-fought bout. From the opening bell, Kelani took it to Cora, delivering a front dropkick and mounted punches. But Cora, ever the opportunist, turned the tide by tripping Kelani off the top rope and unloading with vicious stomps.
The match hit its stride when Kelani rallied with a sitting facebuster for two. Her aggression peaked with relentless stomps in the corner, but the ref’s intervention gave Cora the opening to rake the eyes. A quick DDT sealed Kelani’s fate, giving Cora the win.
Winner: Cora Jade
