Michelle McCool talks what led her to leave WWE

Former WWE Diva Michelle McCool recently spoke to Lilian Garcia on her podcast Chasing Glory. McCool left the company in 2011. She left after a loser leaves WWE match to her former tag team partner Layla. The inaugural Diva’s Champion left in order to start a family with her husband, The Undertaker.

During Garcia’s podcast, McCool explained in more detail about leaving and why. Starting a family wasn’t the only reason for her retirement. She speaks in regards to being treated differently as a result of dating one of the biggest names in the business.

Thank you to Fightful for the transcription. She said the following:

“Leaving was tough because it got to a point where — I was dealing with so much, mostly being Undertaker’s girlfriend while I was on TV. There was even a writer who threw the papers up one day and said, ‘Why don’t we just call it the Michelle McCool and Undertaker show.’ I went to Vince [McMahon] on numerous occasions and said, ‘I don’t want to hate something that I grew up loving so much. The longer I stay, the more I get this sour taste in my mouth.'”

There have been prior rumors of her making her in-ring return, but nothing as a full-time talent has been confirmed. At this point, she has worked in sporadic matches. She participated in the first Women’s Royal Rumble match where she made the most eliminations at five. She also participated in the Battle Royal at the Evolution pay-per-view.
