Mickie James is embarking on her Last Rodeo.
During the September 1 edition of IMPACT Wrestling, Mickie James made an in-ring appearance to address her future. She highlighted the ups and downs on the way to winning the Knockouts World Championship last year. Since then, she suffered big losses that had her rethinking everything.
James proceeded to announce that she’s not retiring right now, but she’s embarking on one last journey to gold. She will issue open challenges and earn her way to another title match with the catch being that if she loses at any point during the journey, she will hang up her boots.
In the main event, Masha Slamovich went one-on-one with Deonna Purrazzo to determine who will challenge Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace at Bound For Glory next month.
Chelsea Green was at ringside and attempted to interfere numerous times. Despite that, Slamovich remained resilient and managed to break out of the Fujiwara armbar and kick out of the Queen’s Gambit. Masha booted Chelsea off the apron for good measure before driving The Virtuosa into the mat with the Snow Plow for the victory.
After the match, Jordynne Grace came out and handed her Bound For Glory challenger an envelope. Inside was a photo of Slamovich X’d out in red.
Next week’s show will feature Taya Valkyrie in singles competition as she faces Chelsea Green. Earlier in the night, Valkyrie shared drinks with Jessicka and Rosemary in celebration of Jessicka’s successful “debut” last week. Valkyrie looks to prove herself next as the trio refocuses.
