On this week’s Monday Night Raw (Feb 19th), momentum continued to build as we head into Sunday’s Elimination Chamber PPV, which will see the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match.
During the main event, a six-woman tag match saw Bayley, Mickie James and Sasha Banks team up to take on the team of the Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.
Bliss appeared to start things off for her team but quickly made a tag to Deville after standing across James. James looks for early control with a side headlock but Deville counters with a waist lock takedown. She breaks from Deville’s grip with a toe hold and makes a tag to Banks, who lands a kick to the midsection.
Deville responds with a right forearm and shoves Bank to the opposite corner where a tag to Rose is made. She tries to body slam Banks at a corner but Banks reverses and instead drives Rose headfirst to the turnbuckle. A tag to Bayley is made and she boots Rose to a corner. She follows with a suplex that causes Rose to roll out of the ring as we head for a break.
When we return, Bayley fighting out of submission by rolling up Rose into a pin. She tries to make a tag but Rose keeps her at bay. When Rose carriers Bayley to a corner, Bliss tags herself into boot and takes Bayley back to the corner. After a few offenses, Deville gets tagged back into the match.
Deville keeps Bayley grounded with a cross body scissors. Bayley manages to get to her feet and create separation after hitting a jawbreaker. This allowed for Bayley to make a tag to Banks but the acting referee did not see that tag due to Rose running in two provide a distraction.
Bayley makes another tag, this time to James who takes Rose down with a flapjack and kick. She also manages to knock off Deville from the apron with a kick.
James stays in control and climbs the top rope to land a flying These Press on Bliss. She also lands a neck breaker onto Deville when she tries to interfere. James turns her attention back to Rose to land more kicks but a small distraction from the outside from Deville allows for Rose to take control after hitting a running knee to James.
Rose applies an abdominal stretch and a suplex to James before tagging in Deville. Deville strikes James with a quick kick and shoves her to a corner. James fights out with a corner hurricanrana.
James tries to make a tag but Deville blocks this and makes a tag to Rose. Absolution goes for a double suplex but James counters with a double neck breaker, setting up for a hot tag scenario. The tags are made, with a fired up Banks in charge of Bliss. Banks lands the double knees from the second rope, going for the cover but Rose made the save.
Bayley clears out Rose from the ring as Bliss shoves Banks headfirst to the middle turnbuckle. She sets up for the DDT but Banks counters to a Bank Statement forcing Bliss to tap out.
Post-match, Absolution attacked Bayley and Banks. They also had their sight on Bliss but James made the save.
During Raw’s Fallout, Banks teased that she will introduce Absolution to a new side of The Boss.
Ahead of their match at Sunday’s Elimination Chamber, Asuka addressed her opponent Nia Jax during an in-ring interview with Renee Young. Asuka said that she says control her own destiny, which is it to win the Championship at WrestleMania.
In response to Jax’s comments from last week, where Jax said she would be the one to break her streak, Asuka said that Jax likes to talk, but on Sunday, she will not be talking – instead, Jax will be tapping out.
Jax runs into the ring and tries to attack Asuka from behind but Asuka fights her off with kicks. Jax endured the strikes and was able to lay Asuka out by the end of the night via Samoan Drop and three leg drops.
Tonight also saw a hype package for Ronda Rousey, who will officially sign her WWE Raw contract at Sunday’s Elimination Chamber PPV event, training with comments from the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Naomi, Natalya, and Stephanie McMahon.
