Possible Spoilers are listed in this article.
Mickie James returned to IMPACT Wrestling last night at Slammiversary. After Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo retained her title against a mystery opponent, which ended up being Thunder Rosa, James came out to offer up an invitation.
James has been working with the NWA promotion since being released from WWE in April. She is serving as a producer for the upcoming NWA Empowerrr event which is the first all-women’s show that the company has produced in its long history. She is in search of the best talent out there, and she recognizes Purrazzo as that.
Purrazzo didn’t take the invitation well and the segment ended in a slap from James. After the show, James reunited with IMPACT producer Gail Kim. Kim explained that James can’t just come in and attack the Knockouts Champion. They agreed that James will come to make things right on this Thursday’s IMPACT episode.
The partnership between IMPACT and NWA is creating a lot of buzz. Along with AEW, all three promotions seem to be working well together in some capacity. Chelsea Green also returned to IMPACT last night and is doing work with ROH as well.
Fightful Select is reporting a lot about the inner workings of the promotions. As for Green, they state that her deal to work with IMPACT came along at the same time as the plans for her to work with ROH. As of now, there is no contract that has been signed between Green and either IMPACT or ROH. Both companies are aware of her work with each other.
As for James, despite her confrontation with Purrazzo, she isn’t currently planned as her opponent. The working plan as of now is for Purrazzo to actually face Melina, most likely at Empowerrr. However, an eventual feud between James and Purrazzo is not off the table down the line.
One last woman that was involved at Slammiversary last night was Thunder Rosa. Rosa has already been working between NWA and AEW. Rosa working the match at Slammiversary against Purrazzo was the plan as of a month ago. Rosa is still expected to work with AEW and NWA for at least until the end of 2021 with her current contract for NWA.
