Mickie James Becomes Five-Time Knockouts Champion At Hard To Kill

The Last Rodeo has ended and it has ended to the benefit of Mickie James and the fans. James will not be going home to retire as she did what she set out to do. She faced multiple opponents and defeated each one on the road to the championship. If she would have lost the title match her career would have been over.

Mickie James defeated Jordynne Grace at the IMPACT Hard to Kill event on Friday to become a five-time Knockouts World Champion. Grace’s second reign as champion ends at 208 days.

The match took place in the rightful spot – the main event. It gave about 20-minutes of action and James had to dig deep throughout the match to counter Grace’s power. The final moments had James escaping a Grace Driver by holding onto the top turnbuckle. James avoided the rush by Grace by sidestepping out of the way which caused Grace to fly into the ring post. This allowed James to capitalize with a tornado MickDT to get the victory.

Post-match, James celebrated with Tara and her family including her son Donovan.

James won’t be able to celebrate for too long despite still having her career moving forward. She has Masha Slamovich up next. Slamovich won a number one contenders match at Hard to Kill against three other great opponents (Deonna Purrazzo, Killer Kelly, and Taylor Wilde). The finish of this match had duel submission with Purrazzo locked in a cobra clutch from Kelly while Slamovich in a crossface by Wilde. Slamovich was able to escape and delivered a Snow Plow to Wilde on top of Purrazzo and Kelly. Slamovich would get the victory after pinning Wilde.

The pre-show match that was advertised between the Death Dollz (Rosemary, Taya Valkyrie & Jessicka) vs. Tasha Steelz, Savannah Evans, and Gisele Shaw did not take place.
