Mickie James is one of four women who was recently released by WWE the week after WrestleMania. James hasn’t been utilized in a match other than the Royal Rumble since September of last year. The treatment of James since she returned to WWE at the end of 2016 has been baffling to many fans. This has even strummed up the topic of how WWE treats its male legends far better than the women.
James has made a few social media comments since her release about how grateful she is as well as thanking Vince McMahon himself. She recently mentioned how she has been met with a lot of media requests but she isn’t ready for that just yet. She did start talking about her release openly on her own podcast GAW TV which she hosts with Lisa Marie Varon and SoCal Val. She seems in good spirits and confident in what her future may hold.
On this most recent episode of GAW TV the trio celebrate their 50th episode!
James had the following to say about her release at this time:
“Obviously now, I’m not with WWE. I got my ‘future endeavor’ on Thursday (April 15). I don’t want it to ever feel like I’m not thankful or not grateful because I’ve had so much fun and the girls in the locker room and I’m grateful for so many experiences, but I honestly feel in the last two years that I’ve been comfortably uncomfortable. I’ve been trying to be pigeonholed or fit into a square mold of ‘this is what we want you to be’ and ‘this is what we want you to believe you are’ and I’m just not that. A lot has been happening in the last two years and I’ve been in this little space. I wasn’t going to get super deep on it but I am going to be honest with you guys. I’m just going to throw it out there.” [h/t Fightful]
SoCal Val ended the episode and stated that Mickie will give her full story on next week’s episode and it will be completely unfiltered.
