Mickie James is hinting at retirement over a few posts she has made on her Twitter account.
First, on Aug. 8, James was asked by a fan on social media if she was going to be Asuka‘s partner in the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Tournament. She responded –
“No. I feel I’m done in wrestling. But you can watch along with me & Nick Aldis tonight on @millionsdotco.”
James’ husband and fellow professional wrestler Nick Aldis, said the following –
James followed up that same sentiment with a response on social media today stating the following –
“I appreciate you. Honestly, I’ve been so blessed & love my fans so much! I wouldn’t have had all this without you. What is left for me to prove anymore? What else can I do? I’d rather bow out screaming “Womens Wrestling Matters” from the top of the mountain than the valley.”
Since being released from WWE in April 2021, she has worked for NWA and primarily IMPACT Wrestling. She became a four-time Knockouts World Champion during this time, ultimately dropping the belt to Tasha Steelz.
After taking a few months off after losing the gold, she did return recently to IMPACT and most recently wrestled against Chelsea Green in July. James also produced the first all-women’s pay-per-view to NWA title EmPowerrr which took place last August.
James is a former 5-time WWE Women’s Champion and held the Divas Title on one occasion.
She has not made an official statement on retirement at this time and her profile is still listed on IMPACT’s website.
