In an act that has become a weekly occurrence, Lana has now been put through the announce table a total of six times by Nia Jax. Not only has she consistently gone through the table, but she also goes through it when Jax and Shayna Baszler weren’t even needed to be at ringside.
On a positive note, Lana has been winning a couple of matches recently.
On Monday’s RAW, Lana was the only woman who had to qualify to take part in the traditional RAW Women’s Team for the upcoming Survivor Series event. The other four women (Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Mandy Rose, and Dana Brooke) that make up the team did not have to qualify and were automatically chosen. Lana won a Fatal 4-way against Nikki Cross, Lacey Evans, and Peyton Royce but that didn’t stop Jax who was at ringside to deliver yet another Samoan Drop causing Lana to crash through the announce table for the sixth time.
Rumor has it that Lana may be receiving this backlash due to her husband, Miro’s (formerly Rusev in WWE) debut with AEW. He spoke in September with Busted Open Radio and had the following to say:
“I feel like they [WWE] should be professional and they should treat it as what it is and it’s nothing personal,” Miro said. “They always say it’s nothing personal, it’s a business. Hopefully, they do treat it as nothing personal, it’s a business because that’s what it is and I just hope that it won’t hurt her and I really do hope and I’ve been thinking about this for a long time.”
Since Miro has been signed with AEW, Lana has been booked almost weekly in matches. This was a change for her since before his signing she hadn’t wrestled since February against Liv Morgan. The positive part was she was being booked in matches. She won the Dual-Brand Battle Royal and went on to face Asuka for the RAW Women’s Title. Granted it was a losing effort.
The negative side is that until that battle royal win just a few weeks ago, she was taking the pin every match and subsequently being put through the announce table.
During a more recent interview with Inside the Ropes, Miro had the following to say when asked what he thinks about the booking of his wife.
“I don’t book their shows, I have no idea. All I know is that she’s most likely tougher than anybody else on their roster because clearly, that’s the first time in history that’s been done,” Miro said. “And every single time, she gets the f— up and keeps going, you know. She doesn’t say, ‘No.’ She doesn’t say, ‘I don’t want to do that.’ She doesn’t sell.”
He continues, “She’s going out there and doing her job, and doing her job to perfection. Because you can see, in that ring, when she gets that time, you can see who’s who and who’s been working, and who’s been sitting on their a— the whole time. And I’m so freaking proud of CJ, man because she’s proven that she’s most likely the most talented and underrated person in the whole entire wrestling community.”
