Miyu Yamashita Earns AEW Women’s Title Shot

Thunder Rosa visited Japan to participate in TJPW’s Summer Sun Princess event on July 9. The AEW Women’s World Champion took on Miyu Yamashita and the two would battle in singles competition.

Before the match went underway, Rosa stated that if Yamashita wins, she would give her a title opportunity when Yamashita comes to the United States. The final moments of the match had Yamashita reverse an inside cradle giving her the pinfall over the champion.

Rosa kept her word after the match and sealed the future agreement to the title shot with a handshake. Yamashita is a former three-time TJPW Princess of Princess Champion and a former SHINE Champion.

Also at the Summer Sun Princess event, a new International Princess Champion was crowned as Alex Windsor defeated Maki Itoh. Itoh held the title since January as her title reign ended at 185-days. Itoh was in her second reign.

The tag titles also changed hands as Saki Akai & Yuki Arai defeated the Magical Sugar Rabbits. (Mizuki & Yuka Sakazaki) This ends the reign of the Magical Sugar Rabbits at 272-days. They held the gold since October.
