Moné Defends And Wins Dynamite Debut; Stephanie Vaquer Appears

Coming straight off the heels of Double or Nothing, champions were celebrated and some personal grudges were revealed on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite!

To start off the night, the “CEO” and new TBS Champion, Mercedes Moné, is in the building ready to celebrate her championship victory. While touting herself as the greatest of all time, she commends Willow Nightingale for the hard-fought match but says she’s just a little “too nice” for trusting Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway. She says that when Nightingale comes back, she hopes she’s able to “kick their ass.”

Moné has her sights set on Forbidden Door in four weeks but is suddenly interrupted by Skye Blue. Blue reveals that she is that “bitch” that attacked her in the dark a couple of weeks ago and says that it is some of her best work. She’s only getting started as she attacks Moné in the ring and afterwards is holding the TBS title above her.

Post-attack, it is announced that the TBS Championship is going to be on the line later on in the night, as Moné is set to defend her newly won title against Blue.

Tonight, we also get a glimpse at CMLL World Women’s Champion and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer, as she looks to make her AEW debut come Forbidden Door.

Speaking of Statlander and Hathaway, they come out later in the night to set up an assault on Statlander’s former friend Orange Cassidy by the Don Callis family.

The TBS Championship match is next, and Moné wastes no time getting to the ring and getting her hands on Blue in the early on-goings in the match.

Moné hits a Meteora off the apron to the outside, but later on in the match gets caught on the ropes and meets a boot by Blue. Blue takes over the match for a while and gets her dazed, while Moné finds ways around her offense with her patented Meteoras.

The two end up going back and forth with their strikes, but Moné finds a way around her and hits a Moné Maker defending her TBS title and winning her in-ring Dynamite debut. Post-match, Vaquer makes an appearance holding up the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship, the title Moné and Vaquer had once fought in a tournament for.

Statlander and Hathaway are backstage and explain why they attacked Nightingale at Double or Nothing. Statlander states that she’s tired of being body guard and getting booed for it. She then goes on to say that everyone else will need protection for themselves.

A match between Mariah May and Saraya was originally advertised going into tonight’s show. That match was seemingly cut and is unsure if we will get it at a later time.

What did you think of tonight’s AEW Dynamite? Will Vaquer have a Moné match? Where does Statlander go from here? Let us know what you think below!
