Ahead of Money in the Bank tonight, we’re taking a look back at memorable Diva moments from the history of the Pay-Per-View.
Today, we’re going back to 2014, when we had two Divas matches: Paige defended the Divas Championship against Naomi while Layla and Summer Rae faced off in a grudge match.
Fandango, having been “torn” between Layla and Summer for weeks, served as their match’s special guest referee. He was clearly Team Layla, though, at least after she won the match. A kick put Summer down for the count, and Layla danced off with both the victory and Fandango, leaving Summer in tears.
Meanwhile, Paige made her second major defense of the Divas Title against Naomi, who was determined to make the most of the opportunity. Her Funkadactyls teammate Cameron was less enthusiastic, but only until Naomi lost the match. When Paige hit the RamPaige and pinned Naomi, Cameron was ecstatic, and entered the ring to insincerely console her “friend”.
