MYC II: Week 2 Review

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Priscilla Kelly

Our first match of the evening saw the Virtuosa Deonna Purrazzo go one on one with Priscilla Kelly. Although Purrazzo offered a handshake to start the match, Kelley slapped Purrazzo’s hand away. The bout was an even affair between the two competitors. Purrazzo utilized her speed and athleticism, while Kelly implemented more of a striking style to ground Deonna. The end of the match saw Deonna hit Kelly with a russian leg sweep and then float over into her signature arm bar submission. Purrazzo’s signature armbar allowed her to make Priscilla submit and earn the victory.

Post match, Deonna discusses how it took her four years to end up back at NXT and become the Virtuosa. Deonna also claims that she plans on taking each match as it comes. She also made it clear that she has her sights set on competing in the finals of the tournament at WWE Evolution.

Thoughts: While the match was not very long, I found this to be a solid encounter between Deonna and Priscilla. Renee noted on commentary how Priscilla reminded her of a young Paige. I can definitely see the resemblance between the two. It was a pretty enjoyable match to open up this week’s episode. Deonna’s float over into the armbar was executed really well. I’m pumped to see how she does in the next round and in the NXT women’s division.
