Naomi and Sasha Banks are just weeks away from potentially becoming the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. The re-formed Team B.A.D. will be facing the champs Carmella and Queen Zelina at the Show of Shows on Sunday, April 3. But before we get there, Naomi faced Carmella on this week’s SmackDown.
In a far too short of a match, Naomi picked up the win by pinning Carmella after hitting the split-legged moonsault. There wasn’t much time for the match to gain any momentum but Queen Zelina did try to help out her teammate by hopping up on the apron and going for Naomi behind the referee’s back. Banks caught her however and delivered a Meteora into the ring post to keep Zelina from interfering.
After the match, Natalya was seen backstage watching the match. Next week, Banks will be going one-on-one with Zelina.
In a Digital Exclusive, the tag team champions seem to be in a bit of a chaotic mess. Enraged by what took place in the match, Carmella walked off after saying she has her wedding to plan and doesn’t have time for this bullcrap. Zelina was left alone saying that they have the tag titles to worry about before complaining about Sasha’s attack on her.
In the main event, Ronda Rousey had her first-ever match on SmackDown. She faced Sonya Deville who blindsided her with an attack last week. The match was mostly Rousey on offense and she made Deville tap out in the armbar after hitting her with the Piper’s Pit.
Post-match, SmackDown Women’s Champion and Rousey’s WrestleMania opponent Charlotte Flair, entered the ring. She was on commentary throughout the match. In mere seconds Rousey had Flair caught and took her down in an ankle lock. Flair tapped out several times before Rousey would release the hold.
Prior to SmackDown, Aliyah defeated Shotzi in a Dark Match.
After SmackDown on NXT: Level Up, Tiffany Stratton defeated Erica Yan.
