Jordynne Grace Thwarts Wendy Choo From The Knockouts Title At Victory Road

0

Jordynne Grace has become a dominant champion in 2024 and she continues that track as she defeated NXT’s Wendy Choo at Victory Road on Friday.

Grace defended the TNA Knockouts World Title making history in NXT this past week against Sol Ruca. However, the match never reached its full ending when Rosemary and Choo arrived leading to this match.

The match at Victory Road did finish however and Grace won off of the Juggernaut Driver. After the match, Rosemary attacked the champion. Choo put Grace in a sleeper hold and choked her until officials were able to pry her off.

Grace’s grandma even got involved in this match.

Elsewhere, NXT’s Arianna Grace did have a segment with her father, Santino Marella.

Other results from Victory Road can be read here.

Toni Storm Sets Challenge To Mayu Iwatani And The IWGP Women’s Title

0

Toni Storm may not longer be the AEW Women’s World Champion but that doesn’t mean the Timeless one isn’t still searching for gold.

Sitting by a fireplace, Storm states she will always have respect for Japanese wrestling. In 2017 she became the World of STARDOM Champion and she is now ready to prove that winning a title in Japan wasn’t a mistake. On September 24, 2017 in Nagoya, Mayu Iwatani faced Toni Storm in a World of STARDOM Championship match and lost due to an injury two minutes into the match.

Storm has now challenged Iwatani for the IWGP Women’s Title on Oct. 5 in Nagoya.

Iwatani has held the championship since she defeated Mercedes Moné in April 2023. She has held the belt for over 500 days. There has only been six defenses during this time.

Zeuxis Defeats Willow Nightingale To Become CMLL Women’s Champion

0

CMLL hosted a Viernes Espectacular celebrating the promotion’s 91st Anniversary. At this event, Willow Nightingale defended the CMLL Women’s World Championship against Zeuxis.

Nightingale defeated Lluvia and Viva Van to win this title after Stephanie Vaquer was stripped after departing CMLL. Now, Zeuxis is the new champion after defeating Nightingale off of a pin from a Spanish Fly.

Nightingale had lost a championship eliminator match against Kris Statlander on the July 31 episode of AEW Dynamite. Statlander never got her title shot, but did defeat Nightingale in a Chicago Street Fight at All Out.

SmackDown Returns To USA; The Queen Tries To Play Divide and Conquer

Friday Night SmackDown made its return to USA Network this week, emanating from Seattle, Washington’s Climate Pledge Arena.

Michin would be in the ring gearing up for her match against Piper Niven, with Chelsea Green accompanying her at ringside. Michin would immediately unleash offense on Niven. Her attention was briefly diverted by Green, who would get hit with a kendo stick that was found underneath the ring, with Niven taking control afterward. It wouldn’t be long though before the Scottish gal would fall victim to an Eat Defeat and lose the match. Green would strike once again, helping Niven attack Michin and hitting an Un-pretty-her face first onto a trash can.

WWE Women’s Champion, Queen Nia Jax entered the ring to cut a promo. At this time last year, she returned to WWE, and ever since, everyone in the women’s division has realized why she’s the Irresistible Force and why she’s unstoppable, citing her accomplishments of Queen of the Ring and the Women’s Championship, both of which were easy. Every woman in the locker room fears her, and they have good reason to. She tells the WWE Universe that SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis informed her that she will be defending her Women’s Championship in three week’s time at Bad Blood. She doesn’t know who her opponent is, and she doesn’t care who it is, because they will see the same fate that Michin, Naomi, and Bayley have seen.

It is Bayley that interrupts Jax, mentioning that she has had the greatest year of her career, and is happy that she’s feeling confident because she wants her rematch. Jax says that Bayley is in no position to demand anything from her, stating that it’s not like last year where Bayley was running around and hiding behind Damage CTRL. She runs the division now, and she doesn’t need a patsy to do it. This brings up another one of the many questions about Tiffany Stratton’s role in their partnership, as Bayley recalls not needing Damage CTRL to win her title at WrestleMania XL earlier this year, but Jax apparently needed Stratton to help her win the title at SummerSlam.

Tiffany Stratton makes her way out and tells Bayley that Nia knows better than to listen to her. And besides, to Stratton, Bayley is just another woman in the locker room who is jealous of the fact that she is Miss Money in the Bank and doesn’t need to beg for an opportunity like a peasant. Said “peasant” reminds Stratton that she beat her last week. Stratton’s response? “Only because Nia got involved.”

While this leads to a brief moment of tension, Jax remains composed and accuses Bayley of trying to be manipulative. Another woman enters the fray in the form of Naomi, sticking up for one of her best friends. But being in the ring makes her realize that it’s been quite a while since she last won a title, and it’s about time that she do it again. With both Naomi and Bayley wanting a shot, the Queen says that why don’t the two of them team up next week against her and Stratton, and the woman that can pin Jax will get a title shot at Bad Blood. The babyface duo accepts, but also that if Jax and Stratton win, the woman that gets pinned will leave SmackDown permanently. The segment ends as Stratton gets hit with a Rear View by Naomi and retreats to her queen.

Byron Saxton is with Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Belair is excited now that they have their titles back, and Cargill issues a challenge to any team that wants to take them on, no matter the show. The interview is interrupted by Jax and Stratton, first warning them that something bad will happen to Naomi, and then reminding them both that she beat them in order to become Queen of the Ring, so while they are the tag team champions, SmackDown is her kingdom.

Also this week were two former Divas in the crowd with very notable runs on the blue brand. Vickie Guerrero, once upon a time SmackDown general manager from 2007 to 2009, and 2022 Hall of Famer Queen Sharmell were seen in brief glimpses watching the Team Blue action with the rest of the fans. Former TNA Knockout Katie Forbes was also seen alongside her husband Rob Van Dam.

Here is what’s set to take place next week on Friday Night SmackDown:

  • Naomi and Bayley vs Queen Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton; if Naomi/Bayley win, whoever gets the pin gets a title shot vs. Nia at Bad Blood; if Nia/Tiffany win, whoever gets pinned must leave SmackDown.

Spitfire Become Two-Time Knockouts Tag Team Champions

0

At TNA’s Victory Road on Sept. 13, Spitfire (Dani Luna & Jody Threat) had a lot of pressure places on them – either win the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Titles or disband as a team. Lucky for both Luna and Threat, their partnership remains intact as the defeat the champions to win the titles for a second time.

Now an asterisk is next to the champions as Alisha Edwards was not medically cleared to compete. So Tasha Steelz took Alisha’s spot and teamed with Masha Slamovich to defend the gold.

The finish of the match had Spitfire hit the Pressure Drop with Slamovich taking the pin.

Post match, Alisha got in the face of Slamovich blaming her for the loss. Steelz attached Slamovich aligning with Alisha.

Also at Victory Road, Steph De Lander announced that she needs to have neck surgery. She was planned to team with Matt Cardona to face PCO and Rhyno. However, this news led to her and her on-screen husband PCO to leave the ring. Cardona defeated Rhyno.

Megan Thee Stallion Lends Voice To New SmackDown Theme

It’s no secret that Friday Night SmackDown is going through a transformation: a new network, new logo, new graphics, and a new theme.

The voice of that new theme is none other than Megan Thee Stallion. The new song is “Neva Play”, her latest single release alongside RM of K-pop boy band BTS.

The rapper, known for songs like “Hot Girl”, “Her”, and “Mamushi”, previously made waves in pro wrestling circles in the summer of 2021 when she took some pictures with then-SmackDown Women’s Champion and current Women’s Tag Team Champion Bianca Belair.

Stallion also recently hosted the MTV Video Music Awards this Wednesday, where she not only switched up outfits, but took home two Moon Men for Best Trending Video (for “Mamushi”) and Best Art Direction (for “Boa”).

Stallion’s recent album Megan, released in late June, is available to stream on all digital music platforms.

You can view the new blue brand intro below!

SmackDown Discussion Post: 09.13.24

Happy Friday the 13th!!

Tonight’s SmackDown is on USA Network and will be moving forward. Although nothing has officially been advertised for the women, we will likely see the following talent:

Tasha Steelz Replaces Alisha Edwards For Victory Road

0

Alisha Edwards is not medically cleared to compete at Victory Road on Sept. 13.

Edwards was set to defend the Knockouts World Tag Team Titles along with Masha Slamovich. They are set to defend against Spitfire with the stipulation that if Spitfire loses, they will disband as a team.

Since Edwards is out, her replacement is Tasha Steelz.

Heather Reckless Wins TNA In-Ring Debut, Helps Ash By Elegance Become Victorious

0

Tonight is the go-home show before TNA heads to San Antonio, Texas for Victory Road. And tonight on Impact, the Knockouts look to set the stage for the upcoming pay-per-view.

Set to make her TNA wrestling debut, Heather Reckless is set to take on Gisele Shaw, coming after a curious backstage interaction last week with Ash By Elegance.

They start with a sign of respect, but the rookie Knockout looks to find her feet against the more experienced Shaw. Reckless tries to find a quick win by trying to roll her up and takes Shaw down with an eye-catching Headscissors Takedown. Shaw doesn’t take too kindly to it and finds a way to overpower Reckless.

Reckless finds a way to come back with a Tilt-A-Whirl DDT, but incomes Ash and her personal concierge to get a closer look at this match. Shaw tries to catch Reckless on the ropes, but Reckless improvises and hits a Canadian Destroyer to almost take the win.

Shaw attempts to follow up with a spinebuster and hit the Shock and Awe, but it doesn’t take out Reckless. Unfortunately, Ash slaps Shaw on the top of the turnbuckle allowing for Reckless to hit her finisher and win her debut match.

Next, we see another vignette of a new Knockout coming soon.

Matt Cardona and Steph De Lander come out, and Cardona announces that at Victory Road she will be his tag team partner against PCO and Rhino tomorrow night. Despite the unruly odds, PCO comes out to take out Cardona and the married couple looks to share a happy moment before they face off tomorrow night.

https://twitter.com/ThisIsTNA/status/1834391796283015529

It may or may not be the last we see of Spitfire on Impact, as they are set to challenge for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championships which Alisha Edwards and Masha Slamovich hold. It’s do-or-die for the team if they lose tomorrow night, and the team looks more focused than ever to gain back the gold.

https://twitter.com/ThisIsTNA/status/1834392299788505582

After her successful title challenge defense this past NXT, the TNA Knockouts World Champion looks to have a word with the NXT and TNA liaison, Arianna Grace. The champion is set to face Wendy Choo tomorrow at Victory Road but makes it known that Choo is not welcome in TNA.

https://twitter.com/ThisIsTNA/status/1834399488158670957

After her appearance earlier tonight, Ash By Elegance is in action against former rival Xia Brookside. Ash looks to resume the shenanigans after a rough loss against Grace weeks back.

The two lock up and there is no love lost between these two. Brookside tries to use her athleticism to bring down Ash, but Ash looks to disrespect her in more ways than one. Unfortunately for “The Angel,” George Iceman trips her up for Ash to gain the advantage.

Despite the odds, Brookside manages to fire up and lock in an Octopus Hold followed up with a Side Russian Legsweep to float over and almost take the pin. Ash gets caught up in the corner for Brookside to hit the Broken Wings twice, but Iceman looks to bring that to a halt. Brookside goes for it a third time but misses.

In a turn of events, Reckless who won her in-ring debut earlier thanks to Ash sends Brookside crashing into the ring post. This allows Ash to follow up and gain the win.

https://twitter.com/ThisIsTNA/status/1834403120857641050

Reckless and Ash look to be on the same page, having both helped each other become victorious tonight. Backstage, Ash takes an interest in Reckless and finds her to be “interesting.” Iceman tells Reckless to give him a call for a “personal makeover.”

https://twitter.com/ThisIsTNA/status/1834404882583093601

What did you think of tonight’s TNA Impact? Who will come out on top at Victory Road? Can Grace overcome the unpredictable Wendy Choo? And is there a new team brewing between Ash and Reckless? Let us know your thoughts below!

“The Glamour” Mariah May Knocks Off Queen Aminata And Calls Out Mina Shirakawa

Just off the cusp of a raucous All Out pay-per-view, the women of AEW look to tie up some loose ends and have opportunities at stake on this episode of Dynamite!

First, we take a look back at All Out and the Chicago Street Fight between Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander.

After a bit of discourse over the past weekend, the AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May goes against Queen Aminata in an AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match. Aminata issued the challenge after making the save for Skye Blue from May this past All Out.

The two begin to charge at each other and have an even stalemate. Aminata tries to outpower May early on, but the confidence of May manages to outdo this Queen and send her packing to the outside.

May is in control of this match and connects with a Joshi-esque dropkick. Aminata attempts a comeback after finding an opening in the corner. But, the in-ring prowess of May manages to strike Aminata with the knee and hit the Storm Zero for the win.

Post-match, May says that she still has not had her championship celebration and calls out her old Club Venus tag-team partner, Stardom’s Mina Shirakawa, to hopefully join her.

What did you think of tonight’s AEW Dynamite? How was the match between The Queen and The Glamour? And will Mina answer the call? Let us know in the comments below!

AEW Dynamite Discussion Post: 09.11.24

Tonight’s Dynamite will have a match between the AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May vs. Queen Aminata. The last and only time these two were in the ring were earlier this year in January on Dynamite. May defeated Aminata in that encounter.

WWE PC Recruit Gets New Ring Name, Makes Debut On NXT Level Up

Armstrong has had a handful of matches at NXT live events since June. She has also been seen as an extra in backstage scenes on NXT. She will be making her debut in the ring on TV during the Sept. 20 episode of Level Up. Her opponent will be Brinley Reece.

Another match that was taped for Level Up was Kendal Grey vs. Tyra Mae Steele.

Naomi Advances In WWE Speed Tournament

0

Naomi is the second woman to get an advancement from the first round of the WWE Speed Tournament. She defeated Blair Davenport, by submission, in a match that aired on Sept. 11 on the X social media platform.

Naomi advancing means she will collide with IYO SKY in the semi-finals. SKY defeated Lyra Valkyria in last week’s match. Naomi had words for SKY that you can see below.

Matches still to come –

1st round – Elektra Lopez vs. Kairi Sane and Candice LeRae vs. Piper Niven

Semi- Finals – Naomi vs. IYO SKY

Who will be crowned the first Women’s Speed Champion?

Athena vs. Gisele Shaw Set For ROH Women’s Title Match

0

Athena will be defending the ROH Women’s World Championship at the Maple Leaf Pro, Forged in Excellence event in an upcoming two night event. Her opponent? Gisele Shaw. This will be a first time match up between the two.

Shaw has wrapped up her last moments with TNA which are set to air this week. She will become a fixture for the Maple Leaf Pro revival promotion. It has been revived by former TNA President Scott D’Amore.

Athena (641) approaching 650 days as champion and is set to surpass the longest reigning champion in ROH history – Samoa Joe at 645 days.

Wendy Choo vs. Jordynne Grace Set For TNA Victory Road

0

Wendy Choo is getting a shot at the TNA Knockouts World Title.

Choo along with Rosemary unleashed an attack on Grace during this week’s NXT. Grace was defending the Knockouts Title on NXT against Sol Ruca, but just as she was seconds away from possibly retaining the title – the Demonic Duo attacked.

Grace now says Choo can’t wait her turn so she is going to go ahead and give her a title match, at Victory Road, this Friday.

The NXT/TNA continues to move strong. Choo and Rosemary will also be in action on the Sept. 17 episode of NXT against Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley.

Already announced is a TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title match. If Spitfire doesn’t win the titles then they have to disband.

Giulia Shines In NXT Debut; Sol Ruca Answers Jordynne Grace

0

A couple of firsts took place on the Sept. 10 episode of NXT.

First, we have Giulia making her highly anticipated in-ring debut. Her opponent? Chelsea Green. Green had her moments in this match and even introduced Giulia to the announce table by tossing her over it! But Giulia was resilient and proved why she is the one to be looking at as the future of NXT. Beautiful Madness defeated Green after hitting the running knee and following it up with the Northern Lights Bomb to get the pin.

Giulia appeared a couple other times on the show. One, where TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace caught the eye of Giulia as she was making her way out to the ring.

The second time was towards the end of the show when she was speaking with Ava alongside Funaki. The NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez interrupted and wasn’t happy that Giulia jumped the line for a title shot. Giulia said Perez was scared and should be.

Moving on to Jordynne Grace….this was history as the first time the TNA Knockouts Title has been defended on WWE programming. She issued an open challenge and who better to answer but Sol Ruca!

What a fluid and just fun match between the two. There was even a few times that left me personally thinking, is Ruca gonna take this? But in the end, the finish was deemed a DQ as the lights went out just as Grace was attempting to put Ruca away with the Juggernaut Driver.

As the lights came back on, it was the Demonic Duo who caused the bell to ring. Rosemary screaming in Grace’s face as Wendy Choo caught Grace from behind putting the Knockouts Champion to sleep.

Prior to this, a vignette aired showing the Demonic Duo’s partnership.

Ruca may have answered the open challenge, but this decision had the whole women’s locker room in a frenzy! Everyone was eager to take this opportunity, but this also ruffled some feathers. Especially between Fatal Influence and Lola Vice. Jaida Parker was also hunting down Fatal Influence with a baseball bat in hand but they kept dodging her after they attacked her last week posy match. Vice tried to say she wanted to help out Parker but she wasn’t having it. Vice vs. Jayne is booked for next week.

Tatum Paxley and Lyra Valkyria were at Paxley’s dollhouse backstage. Valkyria has a lot of work to do in reeling in Paxley and the two agree they will work together to take out Choo and Rosemary. That match takes place next week.

NXT Discussion Post: 09.10.24

0

Also expecting on the show: NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan, Tatum Paxley, Lyra Valkyria, Wendy Choo, Fatal Influence, and more.

Mariah May vs. Queen Aminata Added To Sept. 11 Dynamite

Queen Aminata is looking to earn herself a championship match this Wednesday, that is, if she can beat the champion, Mariah May

These two women had a confrontation over the weekend at All Out. An already injured (and on crutches) Skye Blue was addressing the Chicago office when May interrupted. They verbally traded banter before May attacked Blue. This caused Aminata to come out and make the save.

Aminata was in action on Friday’s Rampage where she defeated Missa Kate.

NXT Preview, Sept. 10: Giulia In-Ring Debut; Jordynne Grace Open Challenge

0

Another riveting episode of NXT is upon us!

First, Giulia is finally going to make her in-ring debut for NXT. This has been months in the work and many fans have been waiting for arrival for a while now. She appeared at No Mercy to start the month and since then has challenged Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Title on Oct. 1 when NXT moves to the CW Network. But first, she will have her in-ring debut tonight against Chelsea Green.

Next, we certainly have a first and history being made as TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace will be defending her title tonight. Yes! The a TNA title is being defended on NXT. Her opponent is unknown as this will be an open challenge.

Some follow ups are likely to happen as well. Speaking of TNA, Rosemary has been featured recently in NXT and we may be getting Wendy Choo in TNA shortly as well. The two have made a formidable pact together and have targeted Tatum Paxley in NXT and Jordynne Grace in TNA. Lyra Valkyria has joined the mix as she came to Paxley’s rescue last week.

Lastly, we have possibly Kelani Jordan’s next opponent as Jacy Jayne from Fatal Influence seemed real interested in their verbal scuffle from last week.

Don’t forget to return to Diva Dirt during showtime to discuss this and more in our NXT Discussion Post!

Natalya makes Her Raw Return In Calgary! Belair & Cargill Retain

0

Welcome to the season premiere of Monday Night Raw! A jam-packed show indeed, with the headline news that Raw is temporarily returning to a 2-hour format starting Monday, October 7th. So, clear your calendars – less might just mean more!

The Women’s Tag Team Champions, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, were shown looking sharp as ever, while their opponents for the night, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, were prepping backstage.

Street Fight: Wyatt Sicks (Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, and Nikki Cross) vs. American Made (Chad Gable, Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, and Ivy Nile)

It’s been a hot minute since Nikki Cross had a match, but she more than made up for it with a brawl that saw her locking horns with Ivy Nile. Punches were exchanged, and before long, the ring action spilled outside. Chaos ensued, as Cross delivered a sitout front suplex to Nile on the floor, before making the kendo stick her weapon of choice – battering Nile, who was hidden under a trash can for good measure.

Elsewhere, Julius Creed was manhandled by Rowan, while Brutus sent Gacy into the apron. Lumis, meanwhile, hit a full nelson slam on Gable, because why not? In a final act of mayhem, Cross gave Nile a neckbreaker onto steel chairs, leaving Lumis to wrap things up with a Superfly Splash on Gable for the win. Carnage in all the right ways!

Winners: Wyatt Sicks (Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, and Nikki Cross)

Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley at Bad Blood Announced!

Balor, flanked by Carlito, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio, had a bone to pick with Priest. Things quickly escalated, and The Judgment Day boys ganged up on him. But just when it seemed Priest was done for, out came Rhea Ripley (crutch and all) to save the day…only for Liv Morgan to turn up and attack Rhea! The tide turned as Morgan, armed with a crutch, targeted Ripley’s injured knee. Priest tried to shield Ripley, but Jey Uso came out with a chair to chase the heels off. Drama!

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill vs. Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn)

The champs, Belair and Cargill, kicked things off with a mix of power and agility. A few impressive double-team moves gave them control early on, but Fyre and Dawn fought back with some crafty maneuvers. Fyre nearly pinned Belair after a double team Gory Special facebuster, but Jade saved the day.

In the end, Jade finished things off with a German suplex to Fyre, giving the champs another win in their already glittering reign.

Winners: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill

Post-match, the Women’s Tag Team Champs crossed paths with Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane of Damage CTRL, who warned them not to get too comfortable with those shiny titles. Belair and Cargill’s response? Polishing their titles a bit more.

Natalya, Lyra Valkyria, and Zelina Vega vs. Pure Fusion Collective

It was the return of Natalya, as the “surprise” partner to join Lyra Valkyria and Zelina Vega in this six-woman tag team match. The crowd was all in for the return of the veteran, and she didn’t disappoint. Natalya, as sharp as ever, applied the Sharpshooter to Zoey Stark, who promptly tapped out. Not to be outdone, Lyra and Vega each applied their own submissions to the other members of Pure Fusion Collective, completing the clean sweep.

Winners by submission: Natalya, Lyra Valkyria, and Zelina Vega

Backstage, Natalya was feeling the love after her return match, sharing a sweet moment with Uncle Bret “The Hitman” Hart, who gave her a hug and insisted, “This is your moment, not mine.”

And there you have it – a lively season premiere for Monday Night Raw! Big news on the 2-hour format change, thrilling matches, and the return of one of the finest technical wrestlers in WWE history. What’s not to love? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Raw Returns To Two Hours Starting On Oct. 7

0

Raw is returning to two hours. At least from Oct. 7 through the end of 2024. In breaking news on Sept. 9, the announcement was made. Raw has been consistently three hours since 2012.

Of course, starting with the Jan. 6 episode of Raw, the show moves to the Netflix streaming platform. It is unknown at that time if the show will return to a three hour format, but keeping in mind currently Netflix does not have commercials.

What are your thoughts on losing the last hour of Raw? Discuss below.

Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley Added To Bad Blood Event

0

The story continues between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley at Bad Blood on Oct. 5.

It was confirmed on the Sept. 9 episode of Raw that Morgan will defend her Women’s World Title against Ripley.

The two battled at SummerSlam with Morgan retaining and taking both Dominik Mysterio and The Judgment Day from Ripley and Damian Priest. Ripley and Priest did receive some payback with the mixed tag team match against Morgan and Mysterio at Bash in Berlin.

At the time of this writing, no stipulation has been added, but it sure seems like one should be listed for this match.
