Moné Defends Against Shida, Paid A Doctor’s Visit; Shirakawa Comments On World Title Feud

We’re just 11 days away from All In, but tonight on AEW Dynamite the women have some stops they have to get through first well along the way to Wembley Stadium.

The show opens with “The CEO” Mercedes Moné as she defends her TBS Championship tonight against former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida. Shida had issued a challenge this past Collision, after touting that she needs some real competition.

Shida immediately starts off with her striking Joshi style, which Moné has some experience wrestling against. Both women have a stalemate in the early goings of the match. Moné has trouble getting offense in on Shida, but with the help of Kamille manages to get the advantage of Shida with her patented Meteoras.

Kamille tries to get involved again but Shida is tired of it and stops these shenanigans with her kendo stick. Moné takes the kendo stick away from Shida for Kamille to boot Shida right in the face. The Moné Maker hits the spot and “The CEO” retains her title.

Before the Moné Corporation can celebrate the win, “The DMD’s” music hits and Kamille targets a fan who is dressed in a disguise similar to that of Britt Baker’s a few weeks ago. However, this time Baker arrives from the crowd in her true fashion and confronts Moné in the ring. Baker gut checks Moné and attempts to lock in the lockjaw. Unfortunately for Baker, Kamille saves Moné from this unwanted Doctor’s visit.

Next, Mariah May previews her new film as she is set to face the AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm at All In

Backstage, Stardom’s Mina Shirakawa is back in AEW and Renee Paquette asks her what she thinks of the situation between Storm and May. Shirakawa had left Forbidden Door on good terms with both of them however hasn’t made contact with either of the two recently. She’s heartbroken about the feud and hopes that no one gets seriously hurt.

What did you think about tonight’s AEW Dynamite? Can “The DMD” lock in the Lockjaw at All In? Who does Shirakawa truly side in all this? Sound off in the comments below!

Welcome back to another week of NXT! This week we’re kicking off the build to No Mercy, let’s jump right in!

General Manager Ava announced an exciting addition for next week: a No Mercy Gauntlet Eliminator featuring women who haven’t yet had a title match. The winner of this match will face Roxanne at No Mercy for the Women’s Championship.

Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan were seen walking backstage, discussing Tatum Paxley’s performance last week. The conversation took a sharp turn when Lola approached Tatum, who was talking to her dolls. Tatum snapped, expressing frustration and resentment, particularly towards Lola whose had it easy. Lola was taken aback while Kelani suggested showing her the truth in the ring.

Lola Vice vs. Tatum Paxley

Kelani on commentary, the match kicked off with an aggressive lockup. Lola took control early with headlock takedowns, while Tatum managed some offense with a front facelock and a strike across the back. The match saw back-and-forth action until Wendy Choo attacked Kelani at the commentary booth, distracting Tatum. Despite this, Tatum landed a Psycho Trap, but Lola managed to dodge a 450 splash and hit a spinning backfist to secure the victory.

Winner: Lola Vice

Jordan had a response in the locker room after what transpired with Choo.

Izzi Dame vs. Brinley Reece

This match started with an aggressive lockup, showcasing both competitors’ strength and determination. Dame took control with a bodyslam and backbreakers, but Reece fought back with a big knee strike and several strikes. The match continued with intense counters and exchanges until Dame plants Reece, earning the pinfall victory.

Winner: Izzi Dame

Before all six names were drawn for next week’s Gauntlet Eliminator match, Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson had words with Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx. Henley was getting on Legend’s case because she is an athlete turned wrestler as if Nyx isn’t the same.

The stage is set for next week’s No Mercy Gauntlet Eliminator to determine Roxanne Perez’s opponent. The participants include Sol Ruca, Wren Sinclair, Jaida Parker, Adriana Rizzo, Kendal Grey, and Karmen Petrovic.

Ashante Thee Adonis was backstage talking to PC recruits and trying to pick up some of the ladies. He has some words with Dion Lennox who was only trying to read.

Backstage, Roxanne Perez visited General Manager Ava’s office, confidently stating that no one is on her level but acknowledging the chance for someone to step up and potentially become the next Roxanne Perez. She seemed excited to watch the gauntlet match, even though she hinted that it would be a long time before anyone comes close to taking her title.

Final Thoughts

This week’s NXT was short and sweet, setting up some exciting matches for next week. The announcement of the Gauntlet Eliminator has generated a lot of buzz, and while it’s hard to imagine anyone dethroning Roxanne, it’s sure to be an incredible match regardless. Fun show overall that could’ve used more women’s action. See you all next week!

Mariah May Says A Whole “New Era” Is About To Begin

There has been no mincing of words when it comes to the current feud between Mariah May and the AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm. Both women are out for blood and willing to do what it takes for the championship

The two are set to do battle at All In on Aug. 25 at Wembley Stadium. They are both out for blood and Storm in particular wants revenge on May turning on her after winning the Owen Hart Cup.

Prior to All In, May has spoken with Sports Illustrated about the upcoming bout.

“It’s going to be a cinematic masterpiece,” said May. “I’ve already taken Toni from black-and-white into technicolor. Wembley is her curtain call and a new start for me.”

“This is all about me,” said May. “A whole new era is about to begin.”

May has been with AEW since only November, however, she has cemented herself as a top contender and also storyteller. She is looking for her first piece of gold in AEW, but has previously held gold in STARDOM.

As for Storm, she is in her third AEW Women’s World Title reign, the most tied with Hikaru Shida. She is 26 days away from surpassing Shida’s total combined days at 436.

NXT No Mercy Gauntlet Eliminator Match Set For Aug. 20

0

The number one contender for Roxanne Perez’s NXT Women’s Championship will be someone who hasn’t had a shot at the title. Her opponent will be determined next week on NXT where a No Mercy Gauntlet Eliminator match will take place. The winner will go on to face Perez at No Mercy on Sept. 1.

Six women were selected by a draw on the Aug. 13 episode of NXT by General Manager Ava. She gave Stevie Turner the credit for the match idea (but it was Mr. Stone’s idea).

With a lot of talent waiting to hear if they were selected, these six women will be in the match.

  • Wren Sinclair
  • Adriana Rizzo
  • Sol Ruca
  • Jaida Parker
  • Kendal Grey

NXT Discussion Post: 08.13.24

Follow the past two week’s of The Great American Bash, surprisingly there’s no women advertised matches heading into tonight. Which is rare as NXT is normally good at advertising the women’s roster.

Maybe this could mean good things are about to happen tonight?!

Enjoy the show!

Becky Lynch Says She Has “Many Options On The Table”

0

Becky Lynch is currently taking a breather from wrestling as she has been spending time away from the ring. Her last match was a rematch for the Women’s World Title against Liv Morgan in a steel cage at the end of May. It was reported her contract with WWE was up on June 1 with no follow up on re-signing.

In an interview on Games with Names, Lynch shared the following about her break from wrestling.

“It’s great. It’s great. Everything is great. I have my wonderful little family. I have many options on the table. I get to, for the first time in a long time, get to take a breath to appreciate everything. When you’re on the road 52 weeks a year, non-stop, going from town to town to town, and in the last three years, I added to the chaos by having a daughter who I would bring everywhere with me. On top of that, I decided it would be good to write my biography. For the last year or two, it was pure chaos. Now, I’m taking a little bit more time. I’m taking a breath. Getting to look around the world. Getting to look at what I created and evaluate everything. It’s been wonderful
.” (Fightful)

The last on Lynch’s status with WWE was reported by Fightful Select who stated that their sources hadn’t heard anything of Lynch retiring.

Fightful reached out to sources close to the situation and WWE. WWE sources said that if she was retired in an official capacity, they haven’t been informed of it as of yet, and didn’t believe if she did retire, that it would be via Instagram. However, it was also noted by one WWE source that she’s not under a WWE deal to their knowledge and could retire without notifying them if she so chose.

WWE sources have repeatedly stated that Becky is enjoying her time off, and they wanted to be respectful of her space after what she’s given them over the years. It was also reiterated that she would always be welcomed back into WWE. At the time her contract expired, she was planning on simply taking time off, and WWE and Lynch both believed if and when the time was right that she’d be back in the fold.

Ivy Nile Attacks Maxxine Dupri At Ringside! Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn Assert Dominance

0

For the start of this week’s Raw, Rhea Ripley made her entrance to a thunderous ovation, fully embracing her babyface turn.

Ripley addressed the crowd, reflecting on her emotional rollercoaster since SummerSlam. She expressed feelings of embarrassment and heartbreak but ultimately revealed her anger and determination to move forward. Ripley delivered a sharp line directed at Dominik, hinting at their past relationship, before reminding Liv Morgan that she is “Rhea Bloody Ripley.”

The interruption came from Liv Morgan, the Women’s World Champion, who was perched in the cheap seats alongside Dominik Mysterio. Dominik attempted to explain his actions, but the crowd drowned him out with boos. Dominik accused Ripley of trying to change him and claimed that Morgan allowed him to be himself. He boasted about finally defeating his father with Morgan’s support, something Ripley never helped him achieve.

Ripley responded with a mix of pride and disappointment. She acknowledged Dominik’s accomplishments but warned him that his decision to leave her would have consequences. Morgan then chimed in, taunting Ripley by claiming ownership over everything Rhea once valued, including Dominik, the Women’s World Title, and the division itself.

Ripley had enough and told Morgan to shut up. She vowed to come after Morgan and warned that Liv would have to kill her to stop her. As tensions escalated, Damian Priest appeared to a huge pop, leading to a brawl between Priest and Dominik. Ripley made her way up the steps to confront Morgan as Priest battled Dominik into the ring. Carlito attempted to assist Dominik, but Priest countered by clotheslining Carlito out of the ring, setting up their match to follow.

Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri were hanging out backstage when Ivy Nile approached Dupri, suggesting she join their new group. Dupri declined, citing loyalty to her family. The segment set up the post-match attack later in the night.

Tornado Tag Match: Alpha Academy vs. American Made

During the tornado tag match, Ivy Nile attacked Maxxine Dupri at ringside, slamming her onto the commentary table and locking in a Dragon Sleeper. The distraction allowed American Made to pick up the victory.

A video aired featuring Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane discussing their dominance in the women’s division. Sane vowed revenge against Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark for taking out Dakota Kai. Sky declared their intention to rule Raw, promising that the heel trio would never achieve their dreams.

Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark cut a promo, revealing their new faction name, the Pure Fusion Collective. Baszler stated that they should be the Women’s Tag Team Champions and promised to tear through the division again. Stark issued a challenge to anyone willing to step up.

#1 Contenders Match: Damage CTRL vs. Pure Fusion Collective

Iyo Sky & Kairi Sane faced Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark, with Sonya Deville at ringside. The match saw back-and-forth action, with Baszler and Stark taking control at various points. Despite a distraction from Deville, Sky managed to hit her Over the Moonsault, but Isla Dawn interfered, leading to a no-contest.

Winners: No Contest

After the match, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn attacked all four competitors, making a statement by taking out both teams. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions stood tall, celebrating their dominance in the division.

Next week, there will be a Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. The champions Dawn & Fyre will defend against both the Pure Fusion Collective and Damage CTRL.

Dakota Kai Said To Be Out Up To Ten Weeks With A Torn Meniscus

0

In was announced on the Aug. 12 episode of Raw that Dakota Kai will be out for eight to ten weeks with a torn meniscus.

Kai was written off last Monday when she was originally scheduled to face Sonya Deville. Instead, IYO SKY replaced her in the match and came out with a win. Kai was attacked backstage prior to the match by Deville, Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark. The group now named the Pure Fusion Collective.

Kai has a history of knee injuries dating back to her time in NXT.

This leaves only two members of Damage CTRL on screen with SKY and Kairi Sane. Asuka has been out with an injury herself.

Possible Name Change For New Judgment Day; Mixed Tag Team Match Rumored For Bash In Berlin

0

Heading into this week’s Raw a few things are being reportedly and heavily rumored. They both surround the newly formed Judgment Day as Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest have been removed and Liv Morgan has made her way in.

According to a report by WrestleVotes:

Plans are in motion to rebrand the ‘new’ Judgment Day. Sources say the group’s essence will stay the same, but a name change is likely. The leading candidate is an out-of-the-box, yet bold idea: ‘Street Trash.’

On a related note, Bash in Berlin is the next WWE premium live event and will be airing on Aug. 31. Although not confirmed by WWE, it is being rumored by PWN that a mixed tag team match will make it on the card as Rhea Ripley & Damian Priest will do battle against Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio.

Raw Preview, Aug. 12: Rhea Ripley To Kick Off Raw

0

Tonight’s Raw in Austin, Texas has Rhea Ripley set to kick off the show.

Ripley has had nothing but heartbreak since returning from injury. From losing her match at SummerSlam in a failed attempt on regaining the Women’s World Title, to losing the affection of Dominik Mysterio – – – Ripley has a lot to say.

Also, a number one contenders match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles will take place as Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY and Kairi Sane do battle with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. SKY picked up a win against the opposing groups leader Sonya Deville last week. The match was planned to be Dakota Kai vs. Deville but she was taken out backstage and SKY took her place in the match.

Saraya Defeats Nyla Rose As She Continues To Try And Make It To Wembley

One former AEW Women’s World Champion took on another during the main event of this week’s Rampage. Saraya battled Nyla Rose to prove a point of why she should be on the All In card at the end of the month at Wembley Stadium.

Saraya pulled out a victory with help from Harley Cameron as The Outcasts continue to dominate with the numbers game. Rose tried to neutralize Cameron but in the end, Cameron would hold onto Rose’s legs so that Saraya could get the three count.

Willow Nightingale appeared on Rampage in a backstage interview. She was asked about her recent troubles with Kris Statlander and she says she loved her and they worked so well together….that is until Stokely Hathaway. She was interrupted by Tomohiro Ishii who said Stokely had to pay. Nightingale walked off with him saying she had a plan for Wembley.

Kairi Sane Pins Liv Morgan In Mixed Tag Team Dark Match

0

A dark match took place after SmackDown went off the air on Aug. 9. In that match was a mix tag that involved Kairi Sane & Braun Strowman taking on the Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio. The match was original said to be two matches with Sane against Morgan and Strowman against Mysterio.

The match came to a close as Sane hit an InSane Elbow off of Strowman’s shoulders to get the three count on the champion, Morgan.

Sane has a match alongside IYO SKY next week to face Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. The winners will get a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match.

Belair, Cargill, and Naomi Get Even; Stratton and Green Get Catty

Friday Night SmackDown rolled through Tulsa, Oklahoma’s BOK Center for another week of action. SummerSlam is now in the books and Queen Nia Jax is the new WWE Women’s Champion after defeating Bayley. The next premium live event will be the first-ever Bash in Berlin show, which takes place Saturday, August 31st, from the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany.

B-Fab is first in line on the show this week as her and The Street Profits are interviewed by Byron Saxton right before their match against A-Town Down Under. Saxton inquires about how the trio is eager to get back at The Bloodline with Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga being the new WWE Tag Team Champions. The fab female cuts him off and lets him know that the Profits are more than just eager; they are motivated, determined, and on point. After some words from Angelo and Montez regarding the return of Roman Reigns and his impending revenge on the group he once lead, the trio make their way out to the ring, and The Street Profits end up winning the match.

The new WWE Women’s Champion Queen Nia Jax was featured in a vignette that recapped her SummerSlam match with Bayley. The segment was then followed by Tiffany Stratton making plans for Jax’s championship celebration next week. Pretty Deadly interrupts and once again tries to pitch their musical. An annoyed Stratton walks away, but finds herself confronted by Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, with Green suggesting that she should take over the planning aspect if the celebration is anything like Stratton’s “abysmal outfit”. Stratton’s insult of “having a ladder to fall off of” only creates more discourse, and the duo of Niven and Green come to the conclusion that the celebration is a ploy for the Buff Barbie to cash in on her friend’s championship. In response, Stratton says that Green is so right, at being arrogant, oblivious, and delusional. It’s interesting how both Chelsea and Tiffany are heels but have this petty, antagonistic dynamic to these recent interactions they’ve had.

Jade Cargill was up next to face one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alba Fyre. Fyre starts with a kick and a waistlock that gets reversed by Cargill, but the champ makes sure to keep her off her game and employs an octopus hold (famously used by AJ Lee as the Black Widow) that seems to hold Cargill down. Trying to reach the hand of her tag team partner Isla Dawn outside the ring, Bianca Belair made sure to counter her presence, which allowed Cargill to regain control and hit Jaded for the victory.

Just like last week, The Unholy Union and Blair Davenport attack the duo, but this time, Naomi made the save to finally even out the odds.

Here is what’s set to take place next week on Friday Night SmackDown:

  • Queen Nia Jax’s Championship Celebration featuring Tiffany Stratton
  • Naomi vs. Blair Davenport
