“Tiffy Time” Is In… Bayley’s Title Reign, Out?; Naomi Scores An Upset Win

Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown comes off the heels of last Saturday’s Money in the Bank premium live event. Speaking of heels and Money in the Bank, our women’s Money in the Bank winner is none other than Tiffany Stratton. How did her celebration go? Let’s find out.

Lo and behold, the celebration kicks off the show. Tiffany says that on Saturday, it officially became Tiffy Time when she claimed the ladder to the Tiffy Top and became the youngest female winner of the Money in the Bank ladder match in WWE history. While Trish Stratus may have been the host of the show, the Buff Barbie believes she was the real star of the show, and without having the Hall of Famer around to “ruin her moment”, it is now her time. She proceeds to name drop Liv Morgan, Roxanne Perez, and Bayley, each of them current women’s champions in the company, warning them to keep their heads on a swivel because their title reigns are now on Tiffy Time. One of the champs has had enough of Stratton’s words in the form of Bayley.

The WWE Women’s Champion takes her stand on the mic, congratulating Tiffany for achieving a big accomplishment by winning the Money in the Bank ladder match. Stratton questions Bayley’s motives for coming out to the ring, but the champ says she’s there to lend advice considering her own MITB victory in 2019, a time that had yet to feature Tiffany in WWE. Stratton doesn’t pay mind to Bayley’s comments because it is now 2024, once again flaunting her status as the youngest winner and verbally disparaging the woman that stands in front of her. Bayley isn’t bothered by the potato chip-eating insults, because she has one more piece of advice to lend to Tiffany: if she even plans on cashing in her Money in the Bank contract, she should additionally plan on making history as the first winner to ever fail her cash-in.

An additional woman joins the fray as Nia Jax makes her way out. The Irresistible Force accuses Bayley of making empty threats, especially when she’ll be facing her at SummerSlam for the Women’s Championship. But she won’t be facing any version of Bayley: not “Hugger” Bayley from NXT, not the Bayley circa 2017 who was injured for three months due to Nia, but the Grand Slam Women’s Champion and Royal Rumble winner, the same Bayley that is going to embarrass Nia at the Biggest Party of the Summer. However, on the off chance she loses the title to Jax, what’s Tiffany to do? Does she cash in on Nia?

Jax sees through Bayley’s words as a way to create friction with Stratton, her “personal little Barbie doll”. But to Jax, Bayley is not a toy; she is a victim, and at SummerSlam, Nia is going to victimize her. The champ attempts to throw a left punch that quickly turns into a double team attack by Nia and Tiffany, but Michin comes in armed with a kendo stick to rescue the Women’s Champion once again.

Following a commercial break, we get highlights of the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Byron Saxton tries to speak to Piper Niven and Chelsea Green, who are outside the office of Nick Aldis; Green is noticeably wearing a bedazzled neckbrace after her performance at Saturday’s show, stating that she has been called “mother of mayhem” and “princess of pain” by the whole world, so she does not have time to answer any questions. Piper commands Saxton to leave.

We cut right back to the in-ring action and the fight is on between Michin and Nia Jax. Michin tries to find ways to reverse Jax’s arsenal, but the Queen of the Ring winner somehow counters it off. Bayley is watching from ringside supporting Michin, while Tiffany watches from the other side supporting Nia. Jax eventually gains control of the match, but the Blasian Baddie continues to fight and shows no signs of slowing down. At this point, Tiffany tries to distract the referee by misplacing Michin’s kendo stick, but gets attacked by Bayley for doing so. The distraction seems like it’ll lead to a victory for Michin, but Nia kicks out at two, and she ends up falling victim to a Samoan drop and an Annihilator for Nia to win the match.

With the match now over, Bayley now attempts to throw hands with her SummerSlam opponent, but just like before, it turns into another opportunity for Nia and Tiffany to gang up on her. They exit the ring, but Tiffany seemingly has other plans, thinking of potentially cashing in on Bayley, but Jax stops her and gives her a concerning look, knowing that a cash in could cost her an opportunity to win the title at SummerSlam. Stratton becomes nervous, but quickly brushes it off by high-fiving Nia.

Chelsea and Piper are at it again, still standing outside of Nick Aldis’s office. They run into Pretty Deadly, who are trying to get their budget approved for “Pretty Deadly: The Musical”, which they first pitched last week. The two are told by Green that there is a line to talk to Nick Aldis, because no one is getting in line before “mwah” does. The door then opens, and it’s LA Knight to much fanfare. Chelsea is offended, but asks if Aldis is busy, and is told that he’ll call her, but still has a few other things to do.

(Also of note: not Piper reading a book called “HOW TO START A CULT”. Embrace that brujería/witchcraft, queen!)

Blair Davenport is featured in another vignette. Dialogue and some clips from one of her previous vignettes were recycled, intercut with new footage of her main roster run. Davenport then makes her entrance, gearing up for a match with Naomi. The two have had lingering issues since Davenport’s arrival to the blue brand. The match is very back and forth at the start, but eventually picks up in Blair’s favor before a commercial break, as she targets Naomi’s arm and rams her into the ring post.

The break is brief, but the pain on Naomi’s arm continues. The fans remain on her side, in spite of commentary mentioning that her body is still banged up from Money in the Bank. Her and Blair get some near falls in, but it was Naomi who got the W over the promising upstart.

Naomi was now backstage and was congratulated by Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Like Piper and Chelsea, Bianca and Jade have been wanting to talk to Nick Aldis, but there’s still no sign of him at all. When Chelsea overhears this in the background, she and Piper storm into Aldis’s office. Since the show’s almost over, the ex-Women’s Tag Team Champions plan on going home and say goodbye to Naomi for the night.

The Girl with the Glow then runs into Blair, who is hurting and tells her she doesn’t want any trouble, admitting that the best woman won and offering her a handshake, but Naomi is doubtful that the respect is sincere, so Davenport walks away. Chelsea and Piper then exit the office, realizing Nick really is gone and letting Naomi know, leaving in a huff. Unfortunately for Naomi, her night ends laid out on the floor thanks to a sneak attack from Blair, showing resentment for her loss.

Deonna Purrazzo Says Actions Have Consequences In Rampage Promo

Deonna Purrazzo shares what it means to be The Virtuosa in latest promo.

Airing on Rampage, Purrazzo sit sipping a glass of wine as she shares the following words.

“I don’t think we’ve formally met yet. You’ve seen what I can do inside the squared circle. But do you know what it means to be ‘The Virtuosa’? Do you? Wrestling isn’t just a sport or an art form. It’s both, and more set to a quickening pace and a staccato beat of bodies slamming into pine, bones cracking, tendons tearing. All building towards a beautiful and violent crescendo. I like what this place has forced me to become. Because here, actions have consequences. I’m going to burn this empire down from the inside out to recreate in my own image. The Age of the Virtuosa.”

Purrazzo officially joined AEW at the start of this year. Although she did head right for Toni Storm and the AEW Women’s World Title, she felt short in achieving champion status. She has stayed in the limelight since in a high profile feud with Thunder Rosa. After a series of matches between the two, Purrazzo won the No Disqualification fight between them in June.

This promo seems to be the next chapter of The Virtuosa in AEW or is it? Purrazzo doesn’t seem to be finished with Rosa as she attacked both Rosa and Rachael Ellering on Rampage. Rosa defeated Ellering before the attack.

Rhea Ripley To Open July 15 Monday Night Raw

Rhea Ripley may have closed out last Monday’s Raw with her return, but she will open up the July 15 episode.

It was confirmed during SmackDown that Ripley will be opening Raw on Monday. Her return last week had her rushing to the ring to break up the winning celebration between Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio. Morgan ran from the encounter, but Mysterio tried to embrace his returning Mami. She wanted nothing to do with him as Raw went off the air.

Check in with Diva Dirt on Monday night to chat live about what Mami has to say and more!

CJ Perry Confirms Exit From AEW

CJ Perry states that she is finished with the AEW promotion after a short run.

Perry came into AEW in 2023 with an on-screen grudge against then-husband Miro. She aligned herself with Andrade before he left AEW to return to WWE. Perry turned on Andrade in his match against Miro at AEW Worlds End on December 30.

Perry has been offscreen for the past six months or so and prior to that was dealing with a MRSA infection. She spoke recently with USA Today about her current status.

[My] time with them has just finished,” Perry said.

NXT’s Izzi Dame Challenges Jordynne Grace; Gisele Shaw Shocks and Awes Tasha Steelz

Just one week from Saturday, TNA is heading towards Slammiversary but with a few more surprises in store for us along the way.

To open the show, TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace issued an open challenge for her title last week. She is scheduled to face Ash by Elegance heading into Slammiversary. But tonight, the champion looks to prove herself in this bout and her surprise challenger is none other than WWE NXT’s Izzi Dame.

Before the match can even get started, George Iceman interrupts another Knockouts Championship match and announces that Ash is watching via satellite in The Bahamas.

The match gets started and Dame attempts to wrestle around Grace, but can’t seem to outmatch her power. Dame is significantly taller than Grace and attempts to use that to her advantage.

Dame unfortunately gets dumped outside the ring, but Grace can’t keep her eyes off of Iceman. But, seemingly Rosemary has eyes for Iceman and sends him running towards the back. This distraction allows Dame to take back control.

Grace tries to come back and roughens up Dame just enough to hit the Juggernaut Driver and retain her title.

Next, we see Steph De Lander on the beach reflecting on her love life and her storied history with PCO. SDL says she has some loose ends to tie up back in Australia, but promises she’ll take care of that business and asks if PCO will wait for her.

In more Knockouts action, we see Tasha Steelz take on a more reinvigorated Gisele Shaw. Before Shaw can finish her entrance, Steelz takes her out and steals her spotlight.

Shaw is at a disadvantage and tries to fight back as Steelz continues the assault on her. The two start to trade forearms and Shaw is able to stand on her two feet and hit the Shock and Awe. Shaw finds another opening and hits the Denoument Knee for the win.

Xia Brookside is backstage watching the match and says that she wants to take on one-half of the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champions Alisha Edwards next week after getting involved in her match with Masha Slamovich. She is then asked about the status of SDL and believes that “true love conquers all.”

What did you think about tonight’s TNA Impact? How did Izzi Dame look in her surprise TNA appearance? And can Gisele Shaw continue her momentum? Let us know in the comments below!

Mariah May Wins Owen Hart Cup And Turns Heel (Literally) On Toni Storm

After an explosive AEW Dynamite last week, the women’s division is heating up as we start to head towards All In tonight in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

After a raucous celebration last week, Mercedes Moné looks to celebrate her double championship win again by holding a victory toast tonight. Moné arrives with extra security and says that she’s the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be!

Dr. Britt Baker arrives and is tired of hearing all this and cuts the celebration short taking out all of Monés security. Moné retreats and Baker is standing tall with the AEW fans behind her.

In our main event tonight, Willow Nightingale and Mariah May are set to face off in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Nightingale looks to win the Cup for a second time in a row, while May has her eyes sight on getting that world title shot in her home city of London, England.

The two shake hands and it becomes a test of Nightingale’s power versus May’s ever-growing ring experience.

The two are so evenly matched, and Nightingale finally gains he advantage as she hits a cannonball to the outside of the ring. And the AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm, watches nervously.

May tries to come back with dropkick and follows up with a Hip Attack inspired by Storm, and manages to get more fired up. Nightingale fights back and attempts to hit a Pounce, but May counters with a headbutt. Unfortunately for Nightingale, Stokeley and Kris Statlander get involved and May finds an opportunity to cover. But, Nightingale kicks out!

The two end up going back and forth until May can counter the Death Valley Driver and roll up to win the Owen Hart Cup Tournament.

Just as May and her company can celebrate, May blindsides Storm and attacks her with the Owen Hart belt busting her open, and sends Luther through a table off the stage. A bloody Storm cries in disbelief as May proceeds to turn the high heel on the woman she called her mentor.

What did you think of tonight’s AEW Dynamite? Did the right women come out on top tonight? And Why Mariah Why? Let us know in the comments below!

The news was tweeted out by Shawn Michaels and welcomed Vaquer to the WWE family.

Breaking: Stephanie Vaquer Leaving CMLL And NJPW *Updated*

0

*Update* – Since the publishing of this article, it is being reported that Vaquer is heading to NXT/WWE. She was backstage at Heatwave.

CMLL has confirmed that Stephanie Vaquer will no longer be competing for them nor NJPW. Vaquer was both the CMLL World Women’s Champion and one-half of the CMLL World Women’s Tag Team Champion with Zeuxis.

The promotion writes:

We want to inform you that Stephanie Vaquer has abruptly informed us that she will not participate, for personal reasons, in her next fight at FantasticaMania USA. As of today, she also no longer belongs to the CMLL and NJPW talent.

A championship match was confirmed to crown a new CMLL Women’s Champion. A three-way will take place between Viva Van, Willow Nightingale, and Lluvia.

Vaquer was also the NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion up until the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event. She dropped that title to AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné.

There had been rumors recently that Vaquer had interest from both AEW and WWE, but it was unsure if an offer was made.

Fallon Henley Forms Alliance With Jacy & Jazmyn! Thea Hail Brings Victory Back To Chase U

0

Hey everyone! Back for another episode of NXT! We’re following up from Heatwave so let’s see what NXT has in store tonight!

Karmen Petrovic vs. Arianna Grace

Tie up to start the match with Arianna spewing some trash talk right out the gate. Karmen gives her a slap across the face in response. Jacy & Jazmyn come out to ringside to observe the action. Match doesn’t seem to get out of second gear as Karmen hits a flurry of kicks with a spinning kick to the back of Grace’s neck to put her down for the count.

Winner: Karmen Petrovic

Fallon comes out post match to beat down Karmen, walks past Jacy & Jazmyn exclaiming she’s tired of these rookies getting opportunities.

Thea Hail vs. Izzi Dame

Crowd is firmly behind Hail who had a segment earlier saying she’s ready for the NXT Women’s Champion. Izzi dominates early on, showing off her power. Tatum Paxley makes her presence known once again in one of  Izzi’s matches but this time Dame goes on the offense and attacks Tatum! This bites her in the back though as Thea is able to capitalize on the distracted Izzi and shifts the momentum of the match in her favor. Kimura and the tap!

Winner: Thea Hail

Fallon Henley vs. Sol Ruca

The match began with a circle and lockup, leading to Fallon working Sol’s wrist before Sol countered with a front facelock. Both women showcased their agility, each flipping and landing on their feet. We get some near fall exchanges with Sol briefly gaining momentum, but Fallon countered with a head kick for another near fall.

Sol fought back, rolling up Fallon for two and hitting a springboard crossbody. A kick to Fallon’s head followed, but Fallon tripped her during a springboard attempt and landed another head kick for two. The action continued with Sol hitting the Sol Snatcher on Henley, but Jacy and Jazmyn attacked, causing a disqualification.

Winner: Sol Ruca

Tatum Paxley is seen pacing in the backstage area telling her naked barbie that while she’s still interested in championships, she wants vengeance against girls like Izzi too. She drops the doll and Wendy Choo picks it up.

Surprisingly neither the women’s North American nor NXT Champion were seen this week. Roxanne I can somewhat understand, but this was Kelani’s first title defense! Even if we didn’t get a celebration, at least a follow up interview backstage where she commented on her defense and Fallon joining up with Jacy & Jazmyn.

Thea being set up as Roxanne’s next title defense works for this guy! It feels like Roxanne’s reign won’t be threatened until Guilia makes her NXT debut. I don’t disagree with that as it feels like Roxanne is head and shoulders above the rest of the division atm so might as well let her have bangers with the lockerroom (while also allowing her to work on her promos). Still not a bad show. Sound off in the comments and see you for Raw next week!

Knockouts Tag Team Title Match Added To TNA Slammiversary

0

TNA’s Slammiversary is approaching quickly as it takes place on July 20. Already at that event, we will see Ash by Elegance challenge Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts World Title. Now, the Knockouts World Tag Team Titles will also be on the line as Masha Slamovich & Alisha Edwards defend against former champions Spitfire.

Slamovich and Edwards known as Malisha, have held the gold for 67 days and counting from May when they defeated Spitfire at Under Siege. This has been the longest a team has held the titles since MK Ultra’s first run in July of last year.

Miyu Yamashita Confirmed As Shayna Baszler’s Bloodsport Opponent

0

It had been previously announced that WWE’s Shayna Baszler would be returning to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport.

Last time, Baszler faced TNA’s Masha Slamovich in April and came out with the victory. This time, she has a much different opponent, Miyu Yamashita. The two have never met in the ring before.

Per Barnett’s post –

Two fierce warriors of the ring.

Two battle hardened women through martial arts and pro wrestling training.

Two meeting for the first time in the hardest hitting event in all of Professional Wrestling.

The kicks of Miyu Yamashita taking on the submission holds of “The Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler at Josh Barnett’s:Bloodsport XI.

First Main Roster Women’s Mid Card Champion? – You Vote!!

0

There have been rumors for a bit now, as the women’s roster on both Raw and SmackDown grow, to add mid card titles to the women’s rosters. With adding the Women’s North American Title to NXT (currently held by Kelani Jordan), this could be a test run to introduce this to the main roster.

Although there hasn’t been any firm mention of the women getting mid-card titles on the main roster, the possibility is likely. With the growing of the rosters and many women knocking at the door to be called up, it wouldn’t be a bad decision according to most fans.

Let’s vote here on Diva Dirt that if this were to happen, who should become the inaugural champion? To keep things fair, I have included even the top tier talent who have won multiple championships. If you don’t want them to win a mid-card title then don’t vote for them.

Since there are 44 women you can vote for, you can vote up to 10 names.

Happy Voting!

Sonya Deville Leads An Attack On Damage CTRL! Mami Is Back

0

Welcome back to another edition of Monday Night Raw! It wasn’t an active night for the women until the 3rd hour of the show when we got back to back action. I was pulling for Trish Stratus to make an appearance tonight as well but maybe they’re saving that for Smackdown this Friday. Anyways, let’s dive in!

Liv Morgan approaches Dirty Dom backstage while he’s complaining to Adam Pearce about their mixed tag team match later on tonight. Dom relents after some easy persuasion by Liv, not exactly easy to break are you Dom Dom?

Abby the Witch (Nikki Cross) appeared once again, this time during the Chad Gable and Jey Uso match. She presented another box to the announce team.

Backstage vignette with Damage Control saying how they’ve lost all control and tonight they start new, tonight is the beginning of a chance in the tag division. Spoiler, they sure were right about that.

Damage CTRL vs. Kayden, Katana & Lyra

Frenzied action to start the match with Carter and Sane starting out. Lyra tags and we see a cool triple team move that included Chance’s running knee and a dropkick for a near fall. A trio dropkicks from the babyface team to Damage CTRL before hitting commercial.

Returning from the break, the two broken MITB participants are exchanging blows. Chaos ensusd as all six women entered the ring, culminating in simultaneous superplexes by the babyfaces. Finish comes when Dakota stomps on Carter, allowing Sky to hit the Over The Moonsault for the pin.

Winner: Damage CTRL

Post Match, Zoey & Shayna alongside Sonya Deville attack Damage CTRL, with Stark telling SKY mid beatdown that she cost her everything! This is a heel on heel beatdown so it’s more about the element of surprise here but really excited for this addition to the tag division.

Backstage, Zoey Stark, Shayna Baszler, and Sonya Deville were interviewed. Deville issued a warning to the women’s division, declaring their presence and asserting that no one could stop them. Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn then approached, holding the Women’s Tag Team Titles, and proclaimed that the division belonged to them as long as they held the championships.

Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio vs. Zelina Vega & Rey Mysterio

Main event time! The match here was pretty good, it didn’t get to Zelina/Liv levels last week but the story focus was on the dramatic ending of the match with Morgan helping Dom defeat his actual daddy along the way. Props to Liv too bc she put in the work to make sure that happened for Dirty D, who looked mightly conflicted after his win.

Winners: Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio

After the match, Morgan jumped into Dominik’s arms, showing interest, but Rhea Ripley returned, causing Morgan to flee into the crowd in fear. Ripley then glared at Dominik, who attempted a hug, but the show cut off before revealing the outcome, leaving viewers in suspense.

Authors Note:

Personally I felt like they could’ve waited a little bit longer for Rhea to return but I’m also not upset about the pacing of the story moving at this speed. It’s definitely a cliff hanger for next week, it was just weird seeing Rhea Ripley return just to chase off Liv and glare down Dom. The lack of physicality is making me wonder if she’s been completely cleared yet. Time will tell! Really happy for Sonya, Shayna & Zoey! They definitely need a stable name. No Natalya again, the lack of news on her contract status has me a little bit worried. No Kiana either whom I was hoping would at least get some kind of story at this point. Either way, not a bad Raw by any means. Sound off in the comments below!

Rhea Ripley Returns On July 8 Raw

0

Rhea Ripley is back!

Mami returned to close out the July 8 episode of Raw. She had been out of the ring since just after WrestleMania due to a shoulder injury. This was written off as Liv Morgan taking her out of action.

In the main event was a mixed tag team of Zelina Vega and Rey Mysterio vs. the Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio. Ever since winning the title, Morgan has been seducing Dom Dom, helping the Judgment Day, and trying to take every last thing Ripley has worked for.

Morgan and Dom won the match and the celebration ensued as Dom had to remember just exactly who he was celebrating with. “This is my Brutality” hit as Ripley came rushing out and Morgan quickly escaped through the crowd. Raw went off the air as Ripley was confronting Dom in the ring.

Jordynne Grace’s TNA Contract Expires In January 2025

Current TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace has revealed when her current TNA contract is up. One of the most dominant women to ever hold the TNA gold spoke with Matt Morgan on his Gigantic Pop show.

During the interview, Grace stated: “I am under contract until January of this upcoming year. It’s coming up.

Grace has been one of the most talked about talents in 2024. Not only has she defended the championship 12 times since defeating Trinity in January, she has bridged a relationship between TNA and WWE. She appeared in the 2024 Royal Rumble and has had a shot at the NXT Women’s Title against Roxanne Perez.

In addition to dishing out when her TNA contract ends, she says it was WWE producer TJ Wilson who threw her name out there to be the one from TNA to start the sharing of talent in WWE.

“Recently, I found this out. I found out that T.J. Wilson was actually the one who put my name in the hat during a creative meeting and I don’t think I’ve said that during an interview before because I just recently, like within the past month, found it out. But he had watched my match with Trinity at Hard To Kill and he watched that match and I think they were all discussing who to bring in because I don’t think they had any big surprises and he pitched me so, I haven’t got to thank him in person so, if you ever listen to this, thank you TJ.”

There is no word at this time if Grace has plans to re-sign with TNA or seek a home elsewhere. She has worked with TNA since 2018 and is a three-time Knockouts World Champion. She sits as second in history for the most combined days at 566, just behind Gail Kim’s 711.

  • Lyra Valkyria, Kayden Carter, & Katana Chance vs. Damage CTRL
