Moné vs Vaquer Title For Title Added To Forbidden Door; Saraya Taps Out Mariah May

On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, rivalries look to get settled and new ones are brewing as we set to the road for Forbidden Door later this month.

To start the night, we see the return of former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale making the save for Orange Cassidy from an attack by Kris Statlander and Trent Baretta. They both share some commonality as they were both betrayed by those two recently.

Later, Nightingale reflects on her TBS title loss at Double or Nothing but promises to settle the score one day. Now, her sights are set on Stokely Hathaway and Statlander and despite her smile, says that they don’t know how dangerous she can be.

After a standoff last week between Mercedes Moné and Stephanie Vaquer, it is announced that at Forbidden Door it will be a Title for Title match with the TBS Championship and the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship both on the line. The two last faced off in the inaugural tournament for the title last year.

After being billed last week, Saraya and Mariah May finally face off tonight to settle this grudge the Outcasts have with “Timeless” Toni Storm’s entourage.

Saraya gets a quick start against May, attacking her before the bell even rings. May manages to get her footing together, but Saraya is having none of it and tries to dodge her. Saraya catches her again on the outside and continues to batter her on the barricade.

Saraya takes control of the match, but May manages to even the playing field by hitting a running crossbody. The two share strikes, but May quickly regains her momentum with a headbutt. Saraya manages to hit her Cradle DDT finisher on May, but miraculously May kicks out. May tries to roll up but eventually gets caught in the Scorpion Crosslock and taps out.

Storm on commentary, decides to help May in the ring but is caught in an attack by The Outcasts. That is until Mina Shirakawa flies in and makes the save for May once again. May’s companions are at odds, but she seemingly wants the two to get along. After being made official this past weekend, Shirakawa and Storm are set to face off for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door.

This Friday on Rampage, it is announced that Serena Deeb will face off against Mina Shirakawa in one-on-one action.

What did you think of tonight’s AEW Dynamite? How is the Forbidden Door card stacking up so far? What plans does Nightingale have in store for Statlander? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Asuka Shares Photo Of Her Injured Knee

The Empress of Tomorrow shares with her fans a photo of her injured knee. Asuka has been out of action since she and Kairi Sane lost the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Backlash in early May.

Asuka had been nursing a nagging knee injury and has taken this time to get it fixed. She was planned to be in the first round of the Queen of the Ring tournament but was pulled and replaced by Dakota Kai. Kai lost to Lyra Valkyria.

It is unknown at this time how long Asuka will be out of action.

Diva Dirt sends our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Asuka.

Women’s North American Title Summit Breaks Down! Jazmyn Nyx Gets First NXT Victory

0

Hello everyone and welcome to another NXT Recap!

It was a really fun show last night, some great build up leading up to Battleground this Sunday where we’re crowning the inaugural Women’s North American Champion!

Show opened up with Jordynne Grace vs. Stevie Turner! Nick already posted the recap for that match highlighting Jordynne’s dominance in her NXT in ring debut, you can discuss that here!

Winner: Jordynne Grace

For me, I’m still fairly new to Jordynne despite being familiar with who she is from frequenting Diva-Dirt. This match between her and Roxanne this Sunday is the one with the most intrigue due to the rumors swirling around around that WWE is purchasing Impact.

In ring summit took place featuring all six competitors for the inaugural Women’s North American Title match at Battleground this Sunday! This is a really fun segment with each performer getting a chance to shine on the mic. Jaida Parker is a damn natural, it’s come across effortless for her! She’s one I’m really enjoying watching at the moment.

Kelani Jordan came across much more confident in delivering her lines that a little bit came off as slogans, which could’ve easily come across as corny but she’s so darn likable it worked. I really hope Lash Legend has a stand out performance this Sunday, her storyline with Trick Williams is giving her a much bigger spotlight so this is definitely the time to make a name for herself.

In terms of the winner for this Sunday, it’s between Michin, Fallon Henley, and Sol Ruca for me. Michin is the veteran of this match, that usually doesn’t bode well for her booking but I feel like she’d be a great pick to establish a new title. Fallon and Sol are to me, the strongest options, it’s just a matter of whether WWE wants the inaugural champ to be a face or heel.

Robert Stone comes out as the segment breaks down to announce a 6 woman tag match for later tonight! Onto our next match of the night though…

Jazmyn Nyx vs. Thea Hail

Tie up to start the match between the two competitors, with Thea dominating from the get go despite not having the full support of Chase U. Nyx gets the better of Thea and takes control of the match. Not the cleanest bout but not bad by any means either, and there’s no getting better without getting reps. After a brief distraction, Nyx hits an impressive pelee kick to score the victory.

Winner: Jazmyn Nyx

Jordynne Grace is walking backstage and is approached by Mia Yim, we get a brief TNA reunion before what can only be described as a revolving door of interruptions from the entire women’s lockerroom introducing themselves to Grace. This segment was fantastic, it was not only fun to watch but gave the audience a detailed glimpse of who Jordynne Grace is and what she’s about.

Segment next hyping up Shayna vs. Lola this Sunday!

Izzi Dame vs. Natalya

Nattie two nights in a row! She’s taking it to Izzi Dame too, Karmen Petrovic is at ringside with crutches. It was confirmed that it was supposed to be Karmen vs. Izzi but Karmen is injured. Izzi takes control and get’s in some really good looking offense against Natalya. Some nice mat wrestling on display here but Izzi shows off her size and power. Nattie ain’t no slouch though, powerbomb from the corner for two! Surprisingly, Natalya scores a win over Dame with a roll up. It’d be nice for Nattie to have a pinning finisher at this point in her career whether that be transitioning the sit-out powerbomb into a finisher or potentially a bridging German Suplex.

Winner: Natalya

Lash, Kelani & Fallon vs. Michin, Jaida, & Sol

In a backstage segment Robert Stone approached General Manager Ava earlier in the night stating the tag match tonight would have a special twist to it and even though this was the simplest of changes, putting 1 face with the heel team and vice versa, it resulted in such a fun and entertaining tag match that built upon the success of the earlier segment.

These six had great chemistry throughout the match! Between the excitement of debuting a secondary title, the in ring talent and the personality we’re seeing from each of the performers, NXT last night was giving me flashbacks of the 2008 Smackdown Women’s Division. Effective booking all around with characters that are easily understood. Can’t recommend watching this match enough! Even if it’s just to see yet another interesting variation of how Sol transitions into her finisher.

Winners: Michin, Jaida & Sol Ruca

We also got an inside look for Shayna Baszler vs. Lola Vice for this Sunday in NXT Underground match.

Week is off to a great start for women’s wrestling fans after Raw on Monday and NXT last night!

Sound off in the comments on whose your pick to win the Women’s North American Championship! See ya’ll on Sunday!

Jordynne Grace Dominates In NXT Debut

0

The TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace made her in-ring NXT debut on June 4. This was history making as Grace makes the only contracted TNA talent to ever wrestle in an NXT ring. She appeared earlier this year in a WWE ring in the women’s Royal Rumble.

Grace faced and was victorious against Stevie Turner on this week’s NXT. She won with the Juggernaut Driver.

After the match, Grace’s opponent at NXT Battleground on Sunday the NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez appeared in the ring. The two got into a shoving match and Grace would seemingly get the better of the interaction by pushing Perez down to the ring mat. Perez would then retreat and leave the ring.

Grace also had a backstage reunion with Michin and also ran into NXT’s Grace – Arianna. It also appears that Tatum Paxley has interest in the TNA Knockouts Title.

More NXT results to come including:

  • Jazmyn Nyx first win
  • Jacy Jayne returns
  • NXT Women’s North American Title Summit

Wendy Choo Returns To NXT Next Week, June 11

0

Wendy Choo will be making her NXT return for the first time in over a year. But are we getting the same Wendy Choo?

In a vignette aired on the June 4 NXT episode, Choo is seen waking up from her slumber as she heads into the bathroom. She turns the water on from the sink and as she looks up you can see a darker version of Choo as the “glass” breaks.

Choo has had one televised match since returning from injury and that was on May 10’s NXT Level Up with a win against Wren Sinclair.

What are your thoughts on Choo’s new look?

NXT Preview, June 4: Last Stop Before Battleground

0

Tonight’s NXT episode will be the last stop before we reach Battleground this Sunday. With three women’s matches on the upcoming card, tonight should prove very highly for the ladies!

Two matches are scheduled, with one being a HUGE first as the TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace will be in action against Stevie Turner! Grace will be facing the NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for the NXT gold this Sunday!

We also have Jazmyn Nyx who will be taking on Thea Hail. Their rivalry has only intensified after Hail took out Jacy Jayne. Nyx is looking for revenge in the form of a win.

We will see an inside look into the upcoming NXT Underground match for Battleground between Shayna Baszler and Lola Vice.

Lastly, the six participants who will participate in a ladder match to crown the first NXT Women’s North American Champion will have their final build now that we know all the competitors!

Liv Morgan’s Revenge Tour Gets Dirrty! Alba & Isla Set Their Eyes On The Tag Team Champs

0

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw!

Last week we saw Liv Morgan successfully retain the World Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch. After last week, Becky Lynch’s contract has expired with no mention of reaching a new deal, so for the unforeseeable future we’ll see how well the Raw Women’s Division adjusts without The Man.

Liv Morgan is out to open the show and welcomes everyone to the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour!! Great reaction for the World Women’s Champion. Liv, with some impressive white platform boots on, boasts on being able to do what no one else on this roster has been able to… taking out both Rhea Rhipley and Becky Lynch. Morgan is really shining here and the segment only gets more interesting as Dominik Mysterio comes out to HEAVY boos.

Dom Dom can’t get much dialogue in with the reaction he’s getting, but he does warn Liv that when Mami returns, she’s going to kill her. Morgan responds with a zinger that even I gasped at when she told Dom she’d make everything worth his while. Liv closes the gap between her and Dom only for Finn Balor to interrupt the seduction going on in the ring.

Liv really turned the volume up to a level we haven’t seen much from WWE in the modern era. What’s great about it here is Liv leaning into her sexuality to seduce Dom fits within the storyline of infiltrating Judgment Day. Taking Dom from Rhea feels too simple at this point, shattering Judgment Day from its core feels like a much grander story.

Maxxine Dupri shines in her segment with Alpha Academy & Sami Zayn. The crowd was very much behind her, looking forward to seeing where this storyline goes!

Natalya vs. Kiana James

Kiana has a really strong back and forth with Nattie in making her in ring Raw debut.  The veteran didn’t slow down the pace once throughout this bout once but James did well in keeping up but I didn’t really feel like she got a chance to shine much. Personally, I feel like Kiana has all the potential for a major ascent on the main roster but she hasn’t been given the same presentation in juxtaposition to other newcomers as of yet. That being said, it’s only been a month since being called up so perfectly fine with letting this play out. Kiana hits the 401k for the victory.

Winner: Kiana James

Nattie is seen walking backstage after the match and is approached by Sonya Deville. The queen of harts quotes “Enough is enough and it’s time for a change” and I’m not sure if that hints at a heel turn or Natalya hinting at something else considering her contract status then walks out of the frame, only for Sonya to try her hands again at recruiting Shayna and Zoey. The pair turn Sonya down on her offer once again.

Liv Morgan makes her presence known again during Carlito and Braun Strowman’s match. I do enjoy the story progressing more throughout the show as opposed to the booking from the previous regime which we’d have to wait until the next week for more follow up.

Jade and Bianca are out next and making their presence known on Raw! Incredibly happy to see the EST back on Raw and this is my first time getting to cover Jade! The champs wasted no time in calling out their challengers either!. Zoey and Shayna are out next and accuse the champs of ducking them. Some good back and forth here then out comes Adam Pearce to make the tag team title match official!

Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill vs. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark

Match starts with Bianca very much in the driver’s seat with Shayna not getting a ounce of offense in to start the match. Zoey tried turning the tide in the challengers favor by hitting her impressive springboard missile dropkick but as soon as Jade tags in her power overwhelms Stark’s offense. Really cool standing vertical suplex spot.

Back from the break, the camera work covering Bianca’s offense really show’s how incredible of an athlete she is. It gives me a new appreciation for just how talented the EST is! Just as Bianca is about to win after hitting the KOD on Zoey, Isla and Alba attack Belair!!! Jade tries to make the save but the champs end up getting beat down by the four challengers. Triple threat at Class of the Castle? I’m not mad about it and making it a triple threat gives booking an out if they want to pull a swerve and take the titles off Belair and Cargill (potentially in preparation for match at SummerSlam?)

Winners by DQ: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill

Lyra is backstage being interviewed by Cathy Kelley where the runner up to the QOTR declares herself for Money in the Bank but then is attacked by IYO SKY! Iyo is on a rampage backstage assaulting Valkyria, still a little salty after her loss in the QOTR, and the match is made next week!

Great show overall from Raw last night! Advanced multiple storylines and having Bianca & Jade appear on Raw is a welcome addition while the rest of the division finds its footing without Rhipley and Lynch. Sound off in the comments below!

Raw Discussion Post: 06.03.24

Tonight’s Raw has some moments already pre-scheduled for the women. First, Liv Morgan will start off the show explaining her actions from last week. You know, the lip action!

Kiana James will have her official first match on Raw as she takes on Natalya. There also seems to be a Women’s Tag Team segment at least. Bianca and Jade are at the event.

Becky Lynch Officially A Free Agent

0

As of midnight on June 1, Becky Lynch is a free agent. Although her future is unknown during this time, Lynch has gone on record in the recent past to say she intends on retiring in WWE.

In a report by Fightful Select, they share some light on the current status of Lynch.

Becky Lynch is now a free agent.

As of midnight, Becky Lynch’s WWE contract has expired and she is now a free agent for the first time in 11 years. Lynch had re-signed with the company back in 2021, and saw out her contract, and was largely wrapped up on WWE TV last week as she lost the World Title to Liv Morgan. We’re told that WWE seemed aware that Lynch would look to take time off even before she won the World Title, but felt like it was a better approach for the story to have her win it. There was no concern that Becky would “do business.”

Those we spoke to claim there was no agreement or deal reached at the 11th hour, but that WWE has communicated their desire to continue working with Lynch. WWE and those close to Becky aren’t expecting her to go anywhere else as things stand now, but are expecting major offers to come her way. Industry sources have long expected her to get the largest contract offers of any woman in wrestling history.

WWE sources that Fightful spoke to said that Lynch has been “class” to deal with and had communicated to them that she was taking time off.

Lynch hasn’t been a free agent since 2013, and hasn’t been an active free agent since about 2006, as she’d left the business before signing with WWE.

Liv Morgan Segment Added To June 3 Raw

0

After Liv Morgan’s shocking moment to end Raw last week, the Women’s World Champion will be on the June 3 Raw to explain her actions.

Per WWE.com

Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will make her first appearance since her unforgettable kiss with “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio on last week’s episode of Raw.

Morgan retained her title in epic fashion by defeating Becky Lynch inside of a steel cage thanks to an inadvertent assist from Mysterio, but it’s what happened following the match that has the world buzzing.

As she went up the ramp, Morgan planted a kiss on “Dirty” Dom, leading to what should be a must-see episode of Monday Night Raw live at 8/7 C on USA!

Velvet tries to fight back but ultimately Starkz stands tall.

Marina “The Problem” Shafir had a backstage interview. She put the entire roster on notice.

Athena defeated Viva Van as well on this episode.

Bayley vs. Piper Niven Added To Clash At The Castle

Piper Niven will be getting her shot at the WWE Women’s Championship and in her home country of Scotland. She will be facing the champion Bayley at Clash at the Castle on June 15.

Per WWE.com

The WWE Women’s Championship will be on the line when Bayley defends her title against Scotland’s own, Piper Niven.

Since winning the title at WrestleMania XL, Bayley has been tormented by Niven and Chelsea Green, enough so that General Manager Nick Aldis has deemed the Scotswoman the No. 1 Contender to The Role Model.

With Queen Nia Jax already having a guaranteed championship match at SummerSlam, which Superstar will be the one to face her?

Find out who will leave Glasgow, Scotland as champion at WWE Clash at the Castle, streaming live Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network everywhere else.

We let you, the readers, vote and here is who you have selected. There were 26 women to choose from. The top spot received 454 votes and the total amount of votes were, 2,664.

Here’s the results!

Nia Jax Rules The Roost; Bayley Remains A Target

Friday Night SmackDown was held in Albany, New York from the MVP Arena. Nia Jax is now the first ever Queen of the Ring after defeating one of the newest female Superstars on Monday Night Raw, Lyra Valkyria, at King and Queen of the Ring in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last Saturday. With that victory comes an important caveat: a title shot at SummerSlam. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill also retained their Women’s Tag Team Championships over Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell during the event as well.

The show opened with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis in the ring, who introduced Nia Jax for her Queen of the Ring coronation. As boos and chants of “YOU SUCK!” consumed the venue, Nia called out WWE Women’s Champion Bayley, who made her way out but would get ambushed by Piper Niven and Chelsea Green

Niven would then enter the ring and have a staredown with Jax, as Green reminded the new Queen of the Ring that her “sweet pea, best friend, little spicy margarita” in Niven would be the champion by SummerSlam. Jax replied and said that she didn’t give a damn who the champion would be by then because she would annihilate them regardless, before walking off. Still reeling from her attack, Green and Niven would taunt Bayley, their feud clearly being far from over especially with a new obstacle in the champion’s way thanks to Jax.

Now in the trainer’s room, Bayley is getting her arm checked out by one of the doctors when Naomi enters the shot. Naomi tells her that Chelsea and Piper will not be getting away with their attack, and asks Bayley if she’s good to fight later. Bayley believes she’s all good, allowing Naomi to go to Nick Aldis and make a tag team match for later on.

A backstage meeting between new Team Blue female Blair Davenport and Nick Aldis was interrupted by Naomi, who wanted her tag team match to be approved. This didn’t sit well with Davenport, who assured The Girl with the Glow that she will eventually find out who she is before walking away. Naomi got what she wanted, although it was certainly not a new friend in the locker room, as her tag team match was given the okay by the blue brand’s head honcho.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair were talking backstage before being interrupted by Indi Hartwell, who claims that Candice LeRae is now stuck at home with a hurt knee. Bianca says her concerns are a bit extra as it was her and Candice that had injured Bianca’s knee during the Queen of the Ring tournament. Cargill would shut Hartwell up by promising to put her on the shelf with her buddy Candice if she kept complaining.

Michin was interviewed by Kayla Braxton, and was asked about AJ Styles’s announcement regarding his future at the end of the night, as they are both members of The OC. She tries to say that AJ hasn’t really communicated to them but Nia Jax makes sure to spoil the conversation by interrupting her, telling her that as the Queen of the Ring, she should be the talk of the night and warns Michin to not step to her. They have a staredown with Jax promising Michin that she will regret it.

Bayley and Naomi were up next against Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. From the outset, the heel team made sure to brutalize the champion early on. Bayley was able to get a tag in on Naomi, who took out Green on the outside of the ring before the first commercial break.

The show returned from commercials with Piper and Chelsea having taken control of the match. With Bayley trying to make a tag to Naomi, Niven made it her mission to stop her from tagging in, but a reversal threw her off course and led to both Naomi and Green being tagged into the match, with Naomi getting a near fall on Green. After some back and forth from all four competitors, it would be Chelsea and Piper who would win as Piper took a laid out Naomi and helped her tag team partner pin her.

Here’s what’s set to take place next week on Friday Night SmackDown, set to air from Louisville, Kentucky:

  • Jade Cargill vs Indi Hartwell

Report: Talks On WWE Women Mid- Card Titles For Both Main Roster Brands

0

There is a new report making its way around social media that WWE is talking over having two Women’s Mid-card Championships. One for Raw and one from SmackDown.

The report is coming from ViperReports and PWN.

“There is a very good chance we see a Women’s Mid Card belt on both brands.”

Currently, the NXT brand is about to crown its first mid-card champion with the NXT Women’s North American Title. The winner will be determined in a Ladder Match at Battleground on June 9.

Who do you think would make good mid-card champions on the main roster if this were to take place?
