Report: Stephanie McMahon to Return to the Ring?

190

Will Stephanie McMahon be returning to the ring in the near future?

PWInsider has dug up some information from the WWE’s third quarter 10-Q filing that reveals Stephanie has signed a new booking deal with the company. The deal lasts for three years and was effective on October 7th of this year.

The report says that the agreement looks a lot like a wrestler’s contract, down to Stephanie being referred to as a “wrestler”.

Fans have wanted to see a Diva stand up to the Administration in the way Daniel Bryan, Big Show and others have done, so this change could open the door for a match with Stephanie down the road.

Who would you like to see face Stephanie?

Picture(s) of the Day: Halloween Costumes Galore

34

Hopefully everyone had a safe and great Halloween, whether you went to a party, went trick or treating or stayed home eating a bunch of candy by yourself (can’t beat that, right?). Whatever the case may be, while you’re winding down from an exciting night, how about we take a look at some of the Halloween costumes shown off today through various social media accounts.

First up, as shown above, we take our first look at at a few of the zombie type look that all of the NXT Divas seemed to go for this year as Eva Marie, Veronica Lane, Devin Taylor, and JoJo pose for the camera. This image was posted on Veronica’s Instagram account, captioned off with, “Diva’s in zombie mode! Love my LA crew! HAPPY HALLOWEEN @natalieevamarie @brittykin @joseann_alexie”.

Up next, we focus upon a second foursome, this time consisting of Emma, Lana, NXT Women’s Champion, Paige, and Eva Marie. The quartet’s photo was shown on Emma’s Facebook page with the caption, “Happy Halloween!!! NXT Zombie Divas!!!”

Following that, we go for another one of Emma’s posts, this time featuring she and everyone’s favorite huggable headband lover, Bayley! Bayley, while keeping her sideways pony tail, did opt to take out the headband this time, perhaps for the realism effect since we don’t recall seeing any headband wearing zombie walkers on The Walking Dead recently.

Neexxxt up in our list of zombie looks, it’s time to head up north (depending on where you’re located upon reading this) and check in with Becky Lynch, who poses alongside new Diva recruit, Leah Van Damme. The picture featuring both of them looking creepily stunning, was posted on Leah’s Twitter account and captioned with “#zombies #HappyHalloween @BeckyLynchWWE”.

Out of breath yet from all the NXT goodness? Well take a few deep ones and get ready for more, as we’ve got the one and only southern sweet, Alexa Bliss… except it seems she’s turned a little sour for the holiday fun. Bliss posted the shot on her Twitter account, captioning it “Happy Halloween #zombie”, and we must say, the added effects certainly do bliss our hearts to the fullest.

HPOTDSashaRaquel

To conclude the NXT Divas portion, we cap things off with Sasha Banks (whose “Boss” style necklace instantly gains our support once again) and the recently returned, Raquel Diaz, who displays a new half blonde/half brunette look with her hair. This snapshot was posted on Raquel’s Twitter account, under the caption “@SashaBanksWWE and I know how to rock the dead look #UltraDiva #bossbanks #LoveIt #Bankonit”.

Now that NXT is fully on display, we turn to the star of our new web series, Independent Women, Cheerleader Melissa! She opts for a more classic approach, sporting the trademarked look and gear of Rosie the Riveter. The picture was shown on Melissa’s Twitter account, reading off “Happy Halloween! And representing all hard working women of America! We can do it! -Rosie the Riveter!”

And finally, we round out tonights post with that of a blast from the past, as Tara, Tris… Mickie James, Candice Michelle, Maria, Ashley Massaro and Trish Stratus pose for a candid shot backstage on the night of their 2005 Halloween costume contest on Raw. You might remember it well in particular for one, Mickie James, dressing as her idol, Trish Stratus, and delivering a Chick Kick straight to the head of Tara/Victoria. This picture was posted on Tara’s Twitter account, retweeted from a fan.

Which do you think was the best costme? Are there any we didn’t include that you think are worth mentioning?

NXT Redux (October 30th, 2013): Paige & Summer Use Some Tricks to Give Us a Treat

0

What’s up Diva fans and welcome to this week’s NXT Redux! First and foremost, Happy Halloween! To celebrate the spooky festivities of All Hallow’s Eve, in addition to participating in a Halloween Bar Crawl tonight (a.k.a getting merry with 1,500 others to Halloween themed music!), I will deliver you this week’s decent edition of NXT. In the rivalry so entertaining we never want it stop, Paige vs Summer Rae clash yet again, although with the shenanigans of Sasha Banks and the unpredictable element of Emma thrown in, how will this one go? TO THE VIDEO!

NXT’s Diva goodness kicks off this week with the BFFs, ‘The Boss’ Sasha Banks accompanying ‘The First Lady of NXT’ Summer Rae to the ring. The Beautiful, Fierce Females ooze attitude and charisma and sadly, the same can’t be said for Kendall Skye. You don’t sound anywhere near as good as you did a few weeks back Kendall; what happened?! Speaking of oozing charisma, Renee Young is doing just that, and it’s great to see her back at the announce table. Renee brings up the great point in that Summer is brainwashing Sasha, something we as fans have all been suspecting for weeks. Now that it’s been semi-confirmed on camera by a character in the know, it’s great to see that WWE are not just letting fans use their own imaginations to guess what is going on, they are actually telling us it subtly through a side character on screen. Thanks for not letting us do all of the storyline work!

Out next, to the usual amazing reception, is NXT Women’s Champion and the woman I have a godly stained glass window of at home, Paige! The champ raises her belt up high as the bell rings and the match gets underway. Paige launches herself at Summer immediately, writhing at Summer’s roots as she launches her through the air several times. Summer tries to regroup on the outside and is saved from a baseball slide when Sasha pulls her out of harm’s way. Summer then uses her puppet… I mean tag partner whom are both equal in every way, Sasha as a shield! Sasha is thrown to the ground and Summer takes advantage of this by slapping Paige in the face. When Paige reaches the apron, Summer goes for Paige’s hair like Paige had done to her, yet the NXT Women’s Champ shoulder thrusts Summer in the gut and then goes for a sunset flip pin attempt – a nice rare trick from Paige on Halloween! Summer counters the pin by grabbing the middle rope, something the ref seems to completely ignore. Thankfully, Paige manages to get out of the pin and hit one of her own for a two count.

Paige is full in control now, throwing Summer around the ring like a bag of rubbish! Headbutts, throws and stomps are aplenty as Paige’s ferocious aggression is on full display. Sasha gets all ghetto in Summer’s face by demanding “Get it together, Summer” as Paige continues her assault. Summer manages to push Paige away from her and into the ropes… and into the hands of Sasha. The referee finally notices an illegal interaction and Sasha gets banned from ringside. BFF-U Sasha!

Back from the break and an incredibly outdated Bella Twins promo and Paige is still on the offensive. Paige goes to the apron ready to hit her vintage knee strikes that are somehow allowed to defy the ref’s five count, yet Summer has learned from her past mistakes, she ain’t got no time for those knees. Summer hits a gorgeous leg trip that sends Paige crashing back first onto the apron and then the arena floor. Back in the ring, Summer goes for a cover before locking in her lovely Indian Death Lock submission, which she then transitions into a death lock style submission complete with foot choke! So impressive! Summer then wraps her leg around Paige’s neck to turn the submission into a pin attempt, yet Paige is now in a position to counter that pin and get her limbs untangled!

Following a little bit of an awkward moment that looked like at least one girl wasn’t sure what was happening, Summer goes for a pin before getting massively frustrated that she is yet to get her second win within two weeks. Summer then races towards Paige and trys to hit her guillotine choke DDT, which Paige counters! Paige makes my heart beat faster than Usain Bolt’s running ability as she teases a Pampaige, the move we haven’t seen in forever, yet instead, she hits her patented fisherman suplex. You’re such a tease, Paige!

Paige gains momentum with some chain clotheslines and a stiff dropkick before going for yet another cover, something there’s been a lot of in this match, clearly both girls are desperate to win. Just when you think Paige has this in the bag, Summer retaliates out of nowhere, hitting the spinning heel kick that she has used to beat Paige with before. This time however, she can only get two, and she is fuming! All of a sudden, the tide turns yet again, with Paige hitting her thrusting shuffle side kick to the gut before walloping Summer with the Paige Turner for the win!

After the match and before Paige even has a real chance to stand up, ‘The Boss’ is back and she whacks the bejeesus out of the champion. I love how Sasha clearly forgot her Diva t-shirt earlier and collected it when sent to the back – priorities! To make the save, Emma rushes into the fray and she is more vicious than I have ever seen before, shaking Sasha around like a ragdoll! Paige attempts to get Emma to calm down, yet Emma whacks Paige, causing the two to end the segment staring one another down. If looks could kill, Paige would have just cremated Emma – what a scowl!

In addition to this match, Lana also made her second NXT appearance, looking too good in teal as she watched Alexander Rusev win his match.

Thoughts: This was yet another solid and technically sound week from the NXT roster. Summer used her long legs yet again to set herself apart from the competition. I particularly loved her foot choke whilst also applying a submission and I also loved the booking behind the leg trip in which she shifted the momentum her way. That moment made Summer look like a seasoned veteran, learning from her mistakes and finding the perfect way to counter and cause the most damage. She was the MVP of the night for me!

The three-in-one feud here of Emma vs BFFs, Paige vs BFFs and Emma vs Paige is consistently delivering and it shows no signs of slowing down. I can’t wait to see what next week will bring! And with that, stay tuned, Jack will be back!

‘Independent Women’, Episode 7: “Femmes Fatales”

In the seventh episode of Independent Women – titled “Femmes Fatales” – Cheerleader Melissa and Mercedes Martinez set up for and take part in a fan meet and greet prior to NCW Femmes Fatales XIII. And, as it’s Halloween, we also get to see one fan’s incredible costume.

Going Halloween Costume Shopping: Part Three

0

Happy Halloween! We’re celebrating our sixth anniversary of dreaming up Halloween costumes for the Divas and Knockouts. This year we’ll mixing Knockouts and Divas together in three posts leading up to the big day.

But before you see this year’s picks, be sure to catch up on the past five years of this feature:

* 2008
* 2009: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
* 2010: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
* 2011: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
* 2012: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

View part one of this year’s feature here and part two here.

Paige: Lulu from Final Fantasy.

With her Anti-Diva gimmick, black and silver ring gear and penchant for screaming, NXT Women’s Champion Paige already stands out in a crowd. Her twin? None other than Lulu from the popular Final Fantasy X video game. Lulu wields a sharp-tongue and a fearsome arsenal of black magic. Often called “grumpy” or “scary” by her peers, we think Lulu’s personality and very unique attire suits Paige to a T.

Written by Katelyn.

Renee Young: Lois Lane from Man of Steel.

Over the past year we’ve grown to love WWE roving reporter Renee Young, and to see her graduate to the commentating position at NXT pleases us to no end. She’s certainly got the spunk of Lois Lane, who will do practically anything to get a story. And, though Renee’s craft hasn’t put her in mortal danger yet, we think her encounters with Paul Heyman come close enough.

Rosa Mendes: El Torito.

When Rosa fans discovered that she wouldn’t be managing Los Matadores (aka Primo and Epico, her former team), they were certainly disappointed. Instead, the team is accompanied to the ring by El Torito, a mini wrestler dressed as a bull. If Rosa wants to get her old position back, she might as well audition for it and wear the bull costume herself.

Sasha Banks: Bruce Springsteen.

Sasha’s new, evil persona likes to call herself “the Boss”, which calls to mind the person who made the moniker famous, music legend Bruce Springsteen. We think wearing the costume – a muscle shirt, blue jeans, bandana and guitar – will make the moniker really stick, even when Halloween’s over!

Stephanie McMahon: Sif from Thor.

Lately, Stephanie has become more and more ferocious, taking charge of the WWE verbally and physically alongside Triple H. This makes us think of the warrior Sif, who battles alongside Thor (who her husband resembled once upon a time). Strap her in some armor, give her a sword and shield (and a magic choker) and she’ll be able to ward off Big Show all by herself.

Summer Rae: Malibu Barbie (with Fandango as Ken).

Summer and Fandango are so impossibly well-coiffed and good looking that they remind us of America’s favorite “perfect” couple, Barbie and Ken. Though, with their ballroom-worthy fake tans, they bear a greater resemblance to the Malibu versions of the dolls. Heck, with Summer’s bitchy NXT persona, maybe we could even turn this into a Most Popular Girls in School costume while we’re at it.

Tamina Snuka: Red from Orange is the New Black.

Tamina’s new ruthless side has brought out the worst (or, rather, best) in her. As she does AJ Lee‘s dirty work, she can be seen donning some form of black leather, looking like the bodyguard she’s supposed to be. But if she really wanted to give herself some edge, she should take a few pointers from Red of Orange is the New Black, head of the prison kitchens and all-around HIBC. Truly, the measure of a ruthless woman is her ability to starve someone out.

Velvet Sky: Skyler from Breaking Bad (with Chris Sabin as Walter White).

The toxic relationship between Velvet Sky and Chris Sabin may not be as catastrophic as that of Skyler and her meth-cooking husband, but it certainly isn’t healthy. Sabin’s used Velvet as a distraction or human shield countless times, making us wonder why Velvet event sticks around. We think taking on the dynamic of Skyler and Walter could be a much needed therapy exercise for the couple.

Vickie Guerrero: Grumpy cat.

One of the most beloved memes to come out of 2013 was Grumpy Cat, a cat who had a permanent scowl on his face. Heck, not even Anderson Cooper could make him smile. The WWE’s resident cougar could pay tribute to this fellow feline by putting on one of her own famous frowns. If she wants to go method, she can just picture Brad Maddox‘s face.

Video: Brooke Demonstrates Her Twerking Skills for Impact 365

TNA’s Impact 365 program will no doubt lead to some uniquely entertaining videos, but we’ll be surprised if any can top Brooke‘s latest video, which shows her twerking all around a gym.

The video, titled, “Brooke shows Miley her ‘Twerk-Out'”, proves that Brooke can indeed twerk, as she does it in a sauna, in a locker room, on gym equipment and against a wall. Your move, Miley Cyrus.

Raw Redux (October 28th, 2013): The Bella Curse Gets Worse and Summer Goes Single

0

So, we all agree that Hell in a Cell rocked! That’s not a question, that’s a statement. Naturally, I go into Raw expecting much the same. It takes us awhile to get to the Divas, but when we do the first bit of action comes in the form of a tag team match. Champ AJ Lee and her new BFF Tamina Snuka took on the Bella Queens, Brie and Nikki. Earlier in the night, Brie’s man candy, Daniel Bryan, was hideously attacked by the Wyatt Family because the devil made them do it. Clearly, our eco-friendly Bella isn’t really in the right frame of mind to compete but as the announcers reveal, the powers-to-be are forcing her into action. Brie actually wanted to accompany Daniel to the hospital but it simply wasn’t in the cards.

Before the match starts, they show a replay of what happened to Daniel which upsets Brie to the point of tears. The crafty champ takes advantage and our match is underway. She gets the upper hand on Brie and triumphantly skips around much to her own delight. Brie gets off a dropkick and that prompts AJ to tag in Tamina. She doesn’t want any of Brie tonight it seems. Tamina comes in dominates, with Brie spending most of her time in a headlock. Eventually, she’s able to fight back a bit and make the hot tag to Nikki, who comes in fiery and full of fight. The crowd rallies behind the sassy Bella and Nikki decides to go for a high risk move. She scales the ropes and launches herself off the top, but Tamina is able to catch her. Brie tries to come in and help out, but Tamina uses Nikki to knock Brie from the ring, and then Nikki gets flattened with a Samoan Drop. Tamina tags in AJ and the Black Widow uses the chance to get another submission victory! While Tamina and AJ celebrate, Brie watches from the outside of the ring. Hmmmmzie!!!

Before I even begin to speculate on that, the Diva action is not over! After being absolutely brilliant on the pay-per-view, Summer Slae got a singles match with Natalya. I wanted this to happen so bad, and the WWE is catering to me once again.

They did not disappoint!

Summer controlled the majority of the match, after exchanging a beautiful series of holds with Natalya. Some people are saying that the match was sloppy but I didn’t see it really. It wasn’t as sharp and on point as HiAC but meh. Very few matches, male or female, rarely are. I loved Summer’s foot choke in the corner. I got major Stacy Keibler vibes, and if you didn’t already know, she’s my all-time favorite diva. The unique submission Summer locked on Nattie stood out and was fun, and Natalya’s counters were superb. The outside shenanigans are what cost Summer the victory, and she tapped to the Sharpshooter. I have to say that match was sooooo good. Summer was right there with Nattie, hold for hold. She looked great controlling the pace. Very impressive.

The Stephanie McMahon saga continues as well. She ended up gaining a huge ally that personally I didn’t see coming.

You know, I actually liked this because evil Kane is the best Kane. The last thing Stephanie needs is another weapon when she has the likes of The Shield around her and the Wyatts very conveniently taking out people who can/will pose to the McMahon/Randy Orton reign of terror. She’s one powerfully evil woman and I love it.

The McMahons hosted a celebration as well for Orton, which brought all superstars and Divas to the stage. Brie was absent from this, but the other girls were there!

Oh Stephanie! Where was Kane?! Could your facial expressions be any more amazing? The storyline with the McMahons in charge had gotten super boring to me in recent weeks but the interest was definitely reignited last night. Stephanie is at her best when her back is against the wall and I’m hoping that some diva finally steps up to her and challenges her.

Raw was great! The tag match was well done and I can actually say I loved how dominant Tamina looked. She came off as a total powerhouse and Nikki looks amazing in the ring. I would love to see a singles match between those two on Raw, but at the same time I kind of want this storyline to wind down. There’s no reason to keep having the Bellas challenge AJ, if she’s just going to keep making them submit. It sucks but it’s killing both twins in my opinion. The only saving grace to this is that Tamina did the bulk work and AJ got the glory. That’s a small opening to give Nikki and/or Brie another shot, but were pushing it.

I found it very interesting Brie didn’t get in the ring to get Nikki while AJ and Tamina celebrated. Perhaps I’m making something out of nothing, but I think Brie’s frustration with everything is about to boil over. That may not end up being a good thing for whoever ends up around Brie and there’s only so much a girl can take. Multiple losses, unfair treatment, and a fiancé who’s public enemy number one (or two since Big Show seems to be a throne in the regimes side as well) is a lot to deal with. Y’all better keep your eyes on Brie these next couple of weeks.

Keep your eyes on Summer Rae as well. Her star is only going to shine brighter and the sky is the limit for her. She has so much charisma, talent, and intangibles that she could end up being one of the faces of the Divas division. The locker room better look out for our favorite ballroom dancing Diva. Summer is on a fast track stardom and I can’t wait to see her work more matches. That girl is good. Real good.

That about wraps is up for this week. Until we meet again… Cryssi out!

* 2008
* 2009: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
* 2010: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
* 2011: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
* 2012: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

AJ Lee: Carrie White from Carrie.

A young woman that feels persecuted and rejected and will lash out violently when threatened – are we talking about Carrie or AJ? Whether you’re thinking of the Sissy Spacek or Chloë Moretz versions, AJ seems to eerily fit them both, making you wonder if telekinesis is in her secret repertoire.

Aksana: A black cat.

Fans might not understand Aksana’s penchant for crawling around the ring when her opponent is down, but we think it probably has something to do with a fondness for felines. And with that dark hair, how could she not resemble a black cat? When she crosses your path, you’re doomed to defeat… or something like that.

Alexa Bliss: Nidia.

Alexa is one of the few NXT rookie Divas that already has a full-fledged gimmick, and when we first saw her – southern accent, sass and all – we couldn’t help but think of Nidia, the original trailer park Diva. We like to think of her gimmick as an homage to Nidia, so why not take it a step further with a Halloween costume?

Alicia Fox: Olivia Pope from Scandal.

We’ve got no gripe about saying we want 2014 to be Alicia’s big year in the spotlight, and with Olivia being a notorious “fixer” for all the scandalous problems thrown at high society figures, it would perhaps give A. Fox that much needed boost. We want Alicia to fix it up so that she’s once again a force to be reckoned with in the Divas division, and we won’t rest until it’s handled.

Bayley: Boo from Monsters, Inc..

Naive, happy-go-lucky Bayley has captured the hearts of fans with her optimism and enthusiasm for wrestling…and her headbands. She reminds us of a little girl, unaware of how scary the world around her can be, ready to give everyone a smile and a hug. Sounds a little like Boo, right?

Brie and Nikki Bella: Daniel Bryan and John Cena.

The Bellas are much more than someone’s girlfriend, but we loved seeing them interact with their significant others on Total Divas and reference them in Instagram photos, so we can’t help but wonder what it would look like if they dressed as them, Brie with a beard and Nikki with huge muscles. It’s not sexy, but it would be kind of weird if it was meant to be, wouldn’t it?

Brooke: Gemma Teller-Morrow from Sons of Anarchy.

For those of you not familiar with FX’s Sons of Anarchy, it’s pretty much what the Aces & Eights in TNA strive to be. Gemma may be known as the “old lady”, but in reality, she’s hitched up with the leader of the gang, in the same way Brooke is to Bully. She’s almost got the look down with the biker babe gear, but maybe trade in the short shorts for some blue jeans and a custom Sons of Anarchy leather jacket and she’s got Gemma Teller-Morrow down pat!

Cameron: A minion from Despicable Me (with Vincent as Gru).

The consensus from Total Divas viewers seemed to be that Cameron’s boyfriend Vincent bore a striking resemblance to Gru from Despicable Me. We felt inspired to give him the opportunity to acknowledge the joke, while giving Cameron a cutesy costume to go alongside him. Though, we’re not sure if “the bomb dot com” is in the minions’ vocabulary.

Charlotte: Ric Flair.

Charlotte may resent us for it, but we can’t think of a better costume for the second generation Diva than her father, Ric Flair. We’re thinking vintage Flair, with the feathered hair and dark eyebrows. You know, back when he really was riding in limousines, flying in jets and stealing kisses. Wooo!

Dixie Carter: Leigh Anne Tuohy from The Blind Side.

When we first saw Dixie Carter’s new sassy, ultra-southern personality, we couldn’t help but think of Sandra Bullock‘s sassy, ultra-southern character in The Blind Side. Sure, Leigh Anne wasn’t cruel or manipulative, but maybe a blonde wig and some large sunglasses could inspire a change in Dixie.

Stay tuned tomorrow for part two!
