TNA Teases Knockout Debut: “Lei’D Tapa is Coming”

178

Tonight on Impact Wrestling, TNA aired a video package teasing the debut of Gut Check winner Lei’D Tapa.

Tapa, who currently competes in OVW and appeared on Knockouts Knockdown, has grown into an intimidating force of nature since winning the Gut Check competition back in March.

There’s no word yet on when she’ll make her debut, but it might be the shot in the arm the Knockouts division is needing.

Are you excited to see Lei’D Tapa debut?

Your Two Cents: Who Will Face AJ at Battleground?

Your Two Cents is our interactive feature where we ask for the opinions of our Twitter and Facebook followers.

This week, we’re asking this: With Battleground just a week from Sunday, we’re wondering: who do you think will get a shot at AJ Lee‘s Divas Title? We’ve read your responses on our social media pages and picked some of the best submissions to highlight here on the website. As always, you can join the debate by leaving your comments!

* @1DLMixShield: Brie Bella should win the title, but only if she gets screwed over after, teaming her with Daniel Bryan and facing off with Randy Orton, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

* Andres Gutierrez: I think Natalya. I mean it’s been twice now that her and AJ Lee have a stare down after a match.

* @ARGirl1011: I thought it would be Natalya, but since Brie pinned AJ on Raw, it’ll probably be her.

* @divaslovein: I’m rooting for Brie. She got screwed at Night of Champions & she pinned AJ.

* @EMMAlutionx: I’d love for Aksana to challenge for the title but I know that’s out of the picture so I would like Brie to go for the title.

* Jon Vega: It’s fairly simple at this point. AJ had a clean win over both Natayla and Naomi and Brie got a clean win on AJ so she should be next.

* Katlego Bahula: With Brie Pinning AJ this past Monday on Raw, I think its obviously going to be her. I just wish and hope that it becomes a Triple Threat, with Queen Nattie as the third participant.

* @LamarLWaters: Nothing against Brie but I hope it’s Natalya. They had the build for weeks now and I would like to see it continue.

* Lan Galvez: I think it is a Triple Threat. Or there will be a number 1 contender’s match. I hope its Natalya.

* @MarckMZ1: I think that AJ will defend her title on a Divas Championship Triple Threat match against Natalya and Brie.

* @miss_chrissi7: Hopefully Natalya. But could also be another Fatal Four-Way with Brie and Naomi making up the numbers

* @NotSoUpForHeart: Due recent actions I would say Brie but I believe Natalya would make a better face opponent to our heel champion.

* Oliver James Mcgregor: AJ pinned Naomi cleanly on Smackdown. AJ made Natalya tap cleanly at Night of Champions. Brie pinned AJ cleanly on RAW… Therefore Brie Bella is the rightful #1 contender. But with that being said, I would also like to see her take them all on 1-on-1. Although out of everyone, Brie has been gaining more praise & props throughout the weeks, showing more aggression & improvement & was also the MVP during the Fatal-4-Way… Therefore I believe she has earned it the most.

* Robert D Martinez: Brie or Nattie. I’m kind of thinking it should be a triple threat because they are both the top contenders and have pinned AJ!

And now we turn it over to you…

What are your two cents on the debate? Who do you think will face AJ at Battleground?

NXT Redux (September 25th, 2013): Sasha & Summer Bring the Fierce, Bayley & Emma Bring the Fight

184

What’s up Diva fans and welcome to this week’s NXT Redux! It feels like an eternity since I was last here covering NXT, yet it has in fact only been two weeks. WWE decided to be scoundrels last week and rob us of any Divas sightings whatsoever yet this week, things are back to normal as we get a match and a backstage segment. I think I have the flu and feel pretty rancid today, so proceedings will be slightly shorter than normal. Messages of support on Twitter would be greatly supported… for my ego that is; it’s nice to know I’ve been missed by you all. Any wives tale style remedies would also be appreciated for the flu I have! Speaking on appreciation, I appreciated the storyline progression we got this week on NXT. The newly heel Sasha Banks, with Summer Rae by her side, faced off against Bayley, who is coming off her first every victory over Aksana. Oh Aksana, the irrelevance. Will Bayley start a winning streak or will the newly sassy Sasha get her first victory in donkey’s years (a British idiom meaning a long time – you even learn things in my Reduxes too!)? TO THE VIDEO!

Thoughts: First note, Kendall Skye. In my opinion, this is by far the best she has sounded on the microphone. She’s definitely doing well in the role of ring announcer, and to be quite honest, after seeing her leaked performance skills promo, I hope she sticks to announcing the competitors!

Onto the match, it was basic yet it was very solid. I really like how Sasha has kept her high-flying moves such as her top rope arm drag now that she is a heel. Flashy moves can work as a heel when the heel is incredibly cocky, and judging by her new moniker of ‘The Boss’, she’s got cockiness in abundance.

Bayley also performed well and I’m loving her Hugplex. I would like to see her win again soon and debut a finisher as I don’t think a belly to belly suplex is strong enough to be one, and considering Sasha kicked out of it in this match, WWE don’t think so either. I’ve really warmed to Bayley’s character and she ran with the proverbial ball once again this week!

The Sasha/Summer feud with Emma is also pretty decent and I’m happy that since Summer has paired with Sasha, WWE haven’t just dropped Summer’s feud with Emma. Emma was left blind or whatever in recent weeks, so it’s good to see that she’s still not afraid to get revenge, even though Sasha is now by Summer’s side. Another thing I like about the Summer and Sasha pairing is that although people see Summer as the leader as she’s more experience, Summer isn’t presenting it that way. Summer is the ‘First Lady of NXT’ and she’s got ‘The Boss’ by her side. Both women are on a level playing field in terms of identity, and I love that. It’s refreshing to see a tandem with no hierarchy. I honestly can’t even remember the spoilers for past next week’s Mixed Tag, so I’m excited to see how this pairing and their feud with Emma and eventually Paige will develop.

Finally, HOLY RENEE YOUNG! WWE, just because females are of a different gender to men, don’t just put Renee on the commentary team for the Divas matches – stick her on the desk full-time! Renee was confident, fresh and her commentary definitely helped put over the wrestlers. I did laugh a little at her quasi-rage over Summer snapping Bayley’s hair band though. “You don’t mess with a girl’s hair products!” Slightly over the top and silly, yet it made me laugh!

Overall, a solid night in the Full Sail Arena. I can already feel vomit coming up from the thought of what is to transpire next week (not just my flu!) yet hopefully, it won’t be as cringeworthy as the spoilers were on paper. I’ll give you a clue. There’s a snake on the loose next week.. and it’s not the Viper. Yeah you know, the other one. The more annoying one. I’ll leave it there! And with that, stay tuned, Jack will be back!

OVW Spoilers: September 26th, 2013

Ohio Valley Wrestling filmed today’s episode last night in Louisville, Kentucky.

The show (#736) can be seen at OVWrestling.com. Spoilers below:

Spoiler
* Gilbert Corsey interviews the new Women’s Champion, Hannah Blossom. Hannah says she worked so hard and traveled so far and is happy to be the new champion. Gilbert asks about Holly. Hannah says it’s been hard. She is used to talking to her sister everyday, and hasn’t heard from her since last week. Holly comes to the ring and says she has had time to think about it, and she is happy for Hannah. They hug, but are interrupted by Lei’d Tapa. Tapa says she wants the title. Hannah is about to accept a challenge, but Holly takes the mic and says if Tapa wants her sister, she has to go through her first. Tapa says she will see Holly in her ring, her island, tonight.

* Shannon the Dude is backstage and says the next challenge in the Miss OVW contest is a hula-hoop challenge. Ray Lyn, Jessie Belle, & Lovely Lylah are all participating, as Lei’d Tapa yells she doesn’t hula-hoop and storms off. Check-ins will continue throughout the night as whoever lasts the longest wins the challenge.

* Jay Bradley walks by the hula-hoopers and tells Lylah she looks like a hot mess. Jay is shoved up against a locker by Marcus Anthony. Marcus says he can’t get physical with Jay until their match that was just signed for the October Saturday Night Special, but he’s about to go to the ring and show him what’s coming to him.

* The Mobile Homers are still trying to change their luck by playing scratch-off lottery tickets. Dylan Bostic distracts Jessie Belle by taking pictures of her with his phone, causing her to lose the hula-hooping. Holly Blossom argues with Hannah about the upcoming match with Lei’d Tapa, saying they are still a team and sisters, and they are in this together.

* The Marvelous Bodies are watching the hula-hoop contest when the Assassin comes in and takes out the Bodyguy. 4M runs off, bumping into Lylah and causing her to lose. Ray Lyn wins and is excited even though she gets pushed into the wall by Lei’d Tapa.

* Holly Blossom vs. Lei’d Tapa. Hannah was on commentary. Holly with some early strikes, but Tapa was too strong. Tapa could have finished Holly off after a big boot, but to make a point to Hannah at commentary, picked Holly back up and ended it with her spinning diamond cutter finisher for the 3. Winner: TAPA by pinfall.

Picture of the Day: Naomi Shows Off Her Bikini Body

26

Summer may be officially over, but that doesn’t mean a Funkadactyl has to resort to bundling up just yet.

Total Divas star Naomi had a candid photo snapped while taking part in an upcoming photoshoot, and let’s just say it shows off some of her greatest features…like, you know, her hair…and choice in bathing suits. That’s right, she has a way with colors that goes unmatched. (Note: The previous sentence was in no way altered to a more classier approach after spotting Naomi’s rather intimidating future spouse, Jimmy Uso, standing nearby in said photo.)

Naomi posted the picture on her Instagram account, captioning it “#totaldivas @jonathanfatu and mrs. sandra made this photo shoot even more fun”.

Okay, we have to admit that while this deserves to be picture of the day based on Naomi’s beauty alone, we simply couldn’t resist the urge to post any photograph that includes a cameo by the one and only Sandra.

It’s going to be a long few months without these three gracing our TVs each Sunday night, but we hope they keep the pictures coming!

In Video: DVD Sheds Light on Beginning of Stephanie McMahon/HHH Relationship

17

Triple H‘s career retrospective DVD Thy Kingdom Come was released yesterday and naturally, it touches on his relationship with Stephanie McMahon, specifically its controversial beginnings.

In a clip from the DVD, Stephanie talks about how “everyone” was against them being together, including her mother Linda McMahon and brother Shane McMahon.

Triple H recalls the moment Vince McMahon finally acknowledged the elephant in the room and asked him about his relationship with his daughter. Oh, to be a fly on the wall during that conversation!

Watch the clip below:

Kharma on Her WWE Status: “All Parties Are in Gorilla”

401

Most wrestling fans are familiar with the term “gorilla”, which refers to the position just behind the curtain where wrestlers stand right before making their entrances.

It’s interesting, then, to hear former WWE talent Kharma compare her current talks with the WWE to being “in gorilla”.

This admission went down in an interview with the Future Endeavors podcast, in which she spoke about a number of topics in addition to the WWE, not the least of which were her feud with Reby Sky and her thoughts on the current TNA product.

Her current status with the WWE: Kharma says she’s ready now to return to the WWE. She believes that “all parties” are “in gorilla”, i.e., talks are getting close. She explains the reason she’s in the WWE ’13 video game is that they expected her to be back in the ring by the time the game was released, but that didn’t pan out.

On her Royal Rumble appearance and subsequent release: There were plans for her to continue with the WWE, but they didn’t pan out. Physically and mentally, she wasn’t ready to come back full time. She says the only way she could get back to the ring was for her to be released, as it would give her time to work on what she needed to work on.

On her back and forth with Reby Sky: She says Reby’s reputation “speaks for itself” and Reby didn’t reach out to her as she said she did. Kharma said she put Reby in the “ho bag” in her shoot interview because of her lack of “etiquette” and her treatment on Twitter towards veterans like Sid Vicious.

How things changed behind the scenes of TNA: Camaraderie among wrestlers remained the same for the most part. Things began to change when talent came in that didn’t care about building the product, and morale suffered. Kharma says that when you agree to work for TNA, you’re sacrificing a dream of working for the WWE. With TNA not appreciating that sacrifice, she says you wonder, “why should I give up that dream?”

On TNA President Dixie Carter: She says Dixie is “good hearted”, but not as knowledgable about wrestling. Near the end of her TNA run, she began to think Dixie was “working” them as far as her good intentions were. She compared her to Marie Antoinette and her infamous “let them eat cake” line, suggesting that Dixie is out of touch.

Can TNA turn things around?: Kharma thinks TNA can be a viable competitor to WWE if they “get their heads out of their asses.” Dixie has enough talent to make TNA successful, but she can recall a complete lack of appreciation for the talent when she was with TNA. She recalls when she and Cheerleader Melissa tried to introduce them to Twitter, but were ignored. If they listened to young people, they’d be ahead of the game. Instead, they’re following the bandwagon.

How negotiations with the WWE came about: Tommy Dreamer asked if he could give her number to head of talent relations John Laurinaitis. Talks stopped when she told them she two months left in her nine month TNA “no compete” clause, which she had to negotiate down from two years. Mick Foley‘s agent got talks going again.

Her new look and wrestling style: Kharma says she’s leaning towards reinventing herself. At SHINE 12 in her match with Mercedes Martinez, it was the first time she actually wrestled – and not just been a powerhouse – in years. She says she’ll never be “stick thin”, but she’s looking to drop a bit more weight and have more definition in her physique. She credits DDP Yoga for getting her in shape.

On fans clamoring her her to return to the WWE: She encourages fans to keep brining Kharma signs and asking about her because the WWE, unlike TNA, listens to the fans.

It’s a fantastic interview that asks all the right questions and Kharma, as always, doesn’t hold back. Listen to the full interview at Future Endeavors.

How would you like to see Kharma return to the WWE?

Diva Tops First NXT Power Rankings

89

This past Sunday, NXT debuted its very own version of the WWE’s Power Rankings, listing the top five Superstars and Divas in the developmental territory.

On top of the inaugural list is none other than NXT Women’s Champion Paige.

On their official Facebook page, NXT explains the reason behind the pick:

We can’t even remember the last time NXT Women’s Champion Paige lost a match in NXT! The moment the NXT Women’s Championship tournament was announced the NXT Divas division was all about Paige. Her dominance of the division puts her at #1 in the NXT Power Rankings. Will the recent betrayal by Sasha Banks, or #1 contender cause Paige’s first loss in months? For now The Diva of Tomorrow remains NXT Women’s Champion & number 1 on the list.

NXT will update their list every Sunday and post it on their Facebook page.

Do you agree with NXT’s picks?

In Video: Stephanie McMahon and Triple H Arm Wrestle for Milk

18

They may be on the same side where what’s “best for business” is concerned, but when there’s milk on the line, all bets are off.

Husband and wife duo Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, who already faced off in the boxing ring as part of the WWE’s new partnership with the milk industry, are featured in a short ad touting milk’s protein content.

Titled “Breakfast Tango”, the video shows the two in a standoff over the last bit of milk, and decide to arm wrestle for it.

We don’t see the outcome of said arm wrestling match, but we’re guessing Stephanie had Big Show come in, deck HHH and allow her to take the milk. That’s the only logical outcome, right?

Raw Redux (September 23rd, 2013): A New Challenger Emerges

0

Anything I write today will pale in comparison to sheer joy and excitement I felt last night when Randy Orton confronted Brie Bella backstage about Daniel Bryan. That segment is absolutely the only thing I have been waiting for since this entire storyline started and finally, my dreams came true last night. Trust me when I say that I will be talking more about that segment later one, and you can also expect me to really, really gush about Raw. Everything was so flawless last night, that I don’t have one single ounce of hate in me towards anything. I also loved the validation I got when Brie pinned AJ Lee, because now all you haters who were so quick to jump down my throat about Brie having no claim to the title because a “double pin” doesn’t count in a Fatal Four-Way no longer have an argument. Brie does have a valid claim to the championship now, not that she didn’t before. When even the commentators talk about Brie pinning Naomi and no one counting, and a big deal is made… you know what? Screw it.

Brie pinned AJ. Brie pinned AJ.

Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie. Brie.

Oh guess what? Brie pinned AJ.

Yes, that was super annoying but that’s how I feel ninety-nine times out of a hundred.

But anyways!

There was definitely a lot more to Raw than Brie Bella. Stephanie McMahon, Queen of the World and Goddess of Everything Wrestling once again proved why she is head and shoulders above everyone else ever. Summer Rae blinded all of us with her hot pink dance costume and helped her main man, Fandango, to get another much needed win. Then we had a 10-Diva Tag Team match which pitted the cast of Total Divas (God, I miss that show) against a team of Divas that consisted of Alicia Fox (who looked like the bomb dot com in her ring gear last night), Layla, Aksana (still looking brill with her new, short hair), Tamina Snuka, and of course, our championess AJ.

Raw kicked off with Stephanie and her husband, Triple H addressing the WWE Universe and the group of Superstars that stood up to the regime last week to end Raw.

I love this storyline so much. Stephanie coming back to television is one of the best things to ever happen to the WWE in recent memory. She has such an incredible presence about her and to be fair, she’s a heck of a lot more scary than her husband. They’re an absolutely fantastic duo. I loved how they just basically mocked everything in this segment and thanked the guys for standing up and finally proving that they’re men. Instead of punishing them, Triple H and Stephanie decide that tonight they’re going to give the superstars a chance to take their frustrations out on The Shield, because after all, who else can be causing them the frustration? The Shield, who are slowly but surely becoming the muscle for the McMahons, aren’t exactly impressed with this decision.

Stephanie continued shine later on when she interrupted a segment between The Miz and Big Show. Triple H graciously allowed The Miz to go on television despite the humiliating beating Randy gave him last week in front of his (Miz’s) friends and family, and talk to the Big Show about what happened with Dusty Rhodes.
?

I knew things were going to get cray cray when Stephanie interrupted. Being the kind and amazing woman that she is, Stephanie came to the conclusion that she was going to let some of Miz’s remarks slide because she knows she likes to stir the pot. She then makes a few threats, to which Miz doesn’t take to kindly towards, and Stephanie decides to point out The Miz’s flaws. She lets him know that he is nothing more than a utility player, someone that the company can use as a tool to promote their product. Ouch. She also believes that Miz peaked way to early into his career and tells him last week he failed every single one of his loved ones. After Stephanie finishes running Miz down, she sics the Big Show on him. He lays Miz out and storms out of the ring, obviously not happy with what he is being forced to do. The Queen, on the other hand, is more than pleased with herself.

This woman is soooooooooo devious. I love her.

Stephanie had one final segment last night and it was with AJ. The Queen was watching a promo of a new DVD featuring exclusive footage from her real life wedding to Triple H.

Knowing how unlucky in love AJ seems to be, Stephanie gives the champion a copy of the DVD and then decides to try and brush off AJ. AJ doesn’t easily go away and she starts venting about her match that’s coming up later in the night and the cast of Total Divas, and basically putting herself over as better than them. Stephanie gets in her face and basically threatens to strip AJ of her title if she doesn’t compete tonight. AJ forces herself to swallow a lot of pride and claims that she has a match to go get ready for. Excuse me while I freak out over Stephanie and AJ interaction.

Okay, better.

That was our first clue that we were getting the 10-Diva tag match, by the way. Before that, however, there was another segment. It was the segment I eluded too earlier featuring Brie and Randy Orton, and yes, Nikki Bella was there as well. IN RING GEAR!!!! WELCOME BACK NIKKI!!!! Yay!

All I’ve ever wanted was for Brie to get involved in this and I’m getting my wish. Honestly, it’s no shock that this was my favorite part of Raw because as the Diva Dirt leader of the Bella Army and President of the Braniel fanbase, this was everything! Randy is so creepy and Brie was so defiant towards him, saying that she already had someone who was a real man. You go girl! I love it so so so so so much and I love that Brie brought her attitude into the match. When it was time for the match, Eva Marie and JoJo were at ringside to support Natalya, Naomi, Cameron, Nikki and Brie.

Nattie and Alicia got us started with some back and forth action, and Alicia had a lot of sass! She got Nattie in the corner and was kicking her down, until the referee stepped in. Alicia kept the advantage and tried for a cover, but Nattie was able to kick out but she still had to endure Alicia’s wrath. Nattie eventually made the hot tag and Brie came into the match. On the other side, Alicia tagged in AJ. AJ took it Brie and taunted her along the way, and that didn’t settle well the feisty twin. Not only does she get the better of AJ, but she knocks the other girls off the apron so they can’t get involved. AJ ends up eating a Bella Buster and Brie picks up a nice win for Team Total Divas. The cast comes into the ring to celebrate.

Well, it wasn’t a disaster and when it comes to those multi-Diva tag matches, you kind of have to hold your breath. Thankfully, this one was kept nice and simple. Alicia looked great and now we kind of have a situation on our hands where we don’t really know who the rightful number one contender is. After the staredown last week between Nattie and AJ, we were all like, yeah Nattie and AJ! Lets do it!!! Then AJ goes to on to have a nice match with Naomi on SmackDown, and now Brie can boast about pinning the champion. Just when you think you have answers, the ‘E changes the questions. I love how exciting the division is right now and I really can’t wait to see which direction they go in now.

Tonight was nothing short of amazing when it came to Diva goodies. We even got Summer Rae getting involved again in Fandango’s matches. This time her interference set her man up for a win, and an incredible Summer Rae chant broke out during the match.

Summer Slay.

That’s all I got for this week. If you can’t find some type of happiness in everything we got tonight then I just don’t know what to tell you. Until next week… Cryssi out!

In Video: Kaitlyn Returns on the WWE App

Kaitlyn hasn’t been seen in the WWE since defeating AJ Lee in a Mixed Tag Team match at SummerSlam.

Fear no longer, though, Kaitlyn fans: the former Divas Champion made a brief appearance in a return segment on the WWE App during Raw last night. Following the 10-Diva Tag Team match, Kaitlyn was interviewed by Josh Matthews.

“I’ve been taking some time for me. I took a sabbatical to work on my pottery and I’ve been doing yoga,” Kaitlyn joked when addressing what she’s been up to. “But in all seriousness, I went through one of the lowest points in my career when I kind of just got dragged through the mud by AJ and now I’m back and stronger than ever.”

Kaitlyn also noted that Chicago, where RAW was held last night, is where she lost the Divas Title to AJ.

With Kaitlyn back, how will she factor into the current Divas storyline?

Watch the video below:

Do you think Kaitlyn will get involved in the current storyline?

In Video: The Bella Twins Talk Raw Victory and Run-in with Randy Orton

Renee Young caught up with Brie & Nikki Bella following their win on Raw last night.

With Brie getting scoring a pin fall victory over the Divas Champion AJ Lee and Nikki returning to action, the Divas had a lot to talk about.

“I just wanted to prove not only to AJ Lee but to all of the WWE Universe that we’re not just reality stars, none of the Total Divas are, that I’m actually a strong Diva who can kick butt in the ring and I could be our champ and I can beat any other Diva that’s stepped right up against me in that ring,” Brie said regarding her big win.

Nikki hasn’t competed in a match since June and has been sidelines with an injury. Despite not actually being tagged into the match on Raw, this was technically her return to the ring.

“It felt great to be back out in front of that crowd with the energy,” Nikki said. “I have to honestly say I am so proud of my sister tonight. She’s worked so hard and honestly I felt like a mom out there. I’m proud of my child! So this is her night tonight”

Tag team action wasn’t the only time we saw the Bellas last night. Brie was also involved in a brief altercation with Randy Orton during the show where he tried to get in Brie’s head.

“I do have to admit Randy Orton is very intimidating and he kind of shook me up a little bit but all I could think about out there was I’m gonna win this for my boyfriend Daniel Bryan,” Brie said. “That’s exactly what I did and the day that I get a chance to go against that championship I’m gonna win it for Daniel Bryan.”

Check out the video below:

Aww, looks like Braniel will be a regular fixture in the WWE!

Do you think Brie and Nikki are turning face?

Picture of the Day: Tara Returns to the WWE…for One Night, Anyway

74

This Monday’s Raw heavily featured CM Punk‘s return to his hometown of Chicago, but it wasn’t the night’s only homecoming.

Former WWE Diva and TNA Knockout Tara was backstage at Raw, visiting old friends and taking photos, such as the one above, which sees her alongside Paul Heyman and Layla.

Layla posted the photo to Instagram and captioned it, “Look who was at #raw #chicago @reallisamarie Good to see ya.”

The former Diva was also seen in a photo with Naomi, who was meeting her for the first time.

Tara – real name Lisa Marie Varon – owns the Chicago restaurant The Squared Circle, so her dropping by Raw shouldn’t be a huge surprise. But still, it’s a treat to see the “Vicious Vixen” back in her old WWE stomping grounds.

WWE 2K14 Roster Revealed: Seven Divas Make the Cut

0

WWE.com has revealed the full roster for WWE 2K14, and only a few Divas have made the list.

AJ Lee, Aksana, Kaitlyn, Layla, Lita, Natalya and Stephanie McMahon will be featured in the game.

WWE.com has also revealed official promos for the game, three of which can be seen above.

The DLC – downloadable content – roster has yet to be revealed, so there is a chance some of the names we don’t see listed here will be available in that form.

WWE 2K14 hits stores on October 29th in North America and November 1st internationally.

Are you happy with the WWE 2K14 roster?

September has been good to Santana Garrett.

The SHINE and SHIMMER star, on top of competing at NXT tapings and appearing at TNA Knockouts Knockdown, has made history at the first female Florida Cruiserweight Champion.

Over the weekend, Santana defeated Chasyn Rance to win the title, which has been in existence for over 13 years.

Watch highlights of Santana’s victory below:

Congrats, Santana! It’s always inspiring to see a woman make wrestling history.

In Video: Tara Talks The Squared Circle and its “Svengoolie” Burger

6

Tara‘s Chicago restaurant The Squared Circle is famous for having menu items named after various wrestlers and celebrities, including Gail Kim, Jim Ross and the band Disturbed.

The newest stuffed burger addition to Tara’s menu is The Svengoolie. It’s cheddar, capicola, crumbled bacon, two kinds of BBQ sauce, wrapped in flatbread dough and then deep fried. The sandwich is named after Svengoolie, a local horror program in the Chicago area.

Tara joined the hosts of The U last week to talk about her restaurant and the new menu item. Check out the video below:

HIROYO MATSUMOTO ADDED TO SHIMMER 58-61 EVENTS!

We’re 26 days away from the next SHIMMER weekend in the Chicago area!

SHIMMER – WOMEN ATHLETES is proud to announce the addition of HIROYO MATSUMOTO to the SHIMMER 58-61 weekend of events, October 19th & 20th at the Berwyn Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL! Visit www.shimmerwrestling.com for tickets.

“Lady Destroyer” HIROYO MATSUMOTO

One of the most charismatic wrestlers in the world today is “Lady Destroyer” Hiroyo Matsumoto. Her SHIMMER debut in April of 2010 against Sara Del Rey immediately demonstrated to the Eagles Club crowd that Hiroyo is one of the toughest women on the planet. Hiroyo’s positive energy and explosive in-ring style has made her one of the most beloved wrestlers on the SHIMMER roster. Along with her “Seven Star Sisters” tag team partner Misaki Ohata, Matsumoto made history by capturing the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship at SHIMMER 37, ending the first title reign of The Canadian Ninjas. She has also main evented in SHIMMER as a singles competitor on two different occasions. After being absent from our previous 2013 events due to a demanding schedule in Japan, Hiroyo Matsumoto returns to Berwyn for SHIMMER 58-61 in less than four weeks! Live happy by being there in person to see Hiroyo destroy her opponents!

Hiroyo joins the following previously announced competitors for SHIMMER 58-61 weekend…

SHIMMER Champion
CHEERLEADER MELISSA

SHIMMER Original Cheerleader Melissa has the distinction of being the only wrestler to compete on all fifty-seven SHIMMER shows thus far. She began her second reign as SHIMMER Champion on April 6th of this year, dethroning Saraya Knight inside a steel cage in the main event of SHIMMER 53, to become the only woman to hold the SHIMMER Championship on two occasions.

SHIMMER Tag Team Champions
KELLIE SKATER & TOMOKA NAKAGAWA

The “Global Green Gangsters” tag team of Kellie Skater & Tomoka Nakagawa, which has enjoyed success in both Japan as well as the United States, captured the SHIMMER Tag Team Championships from “The Canadian Ninjas” Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews on April 14th of this year. The championship victory for “3G” was Skater’s first in SHIMMER competition, and Nakagawa’s second (the first being her SHIMMER Tag Team Championship reign with partner Daizee Haze).

MADISON EAGLES

Former SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles made history during 2011 as the first wrestler to defend the title outside of the United States. After an impressive title reign which included successful defenses against Melissa, Ayumi Kurihara, MsChif, Ayako Hamada, Serena Deeb, Hiroyo Matsumoto and others, Eagles was forced onto the sidelines for the duration of 2012 with a severe knee injury. Madison returned to SHIMMER during April of this year and plowed through the competition, appearing to have not lost a step.

“The World Famous” KANA

One of the most skilled fighters on the planet, Kana has participated in of some of the most memorable bouts in SHIMMER’s eight year history. Her SHIMMER 50 battle against Ayako Hamada earned 2012 Match of the Year honors from the SHIMMER fans. In addition to being one half of a formidable tag team duo with partner LuFisto, Kana’s singles contests against the likes of Sara Del Rey, Cheerleader Melissa, Mercedes Martinez, Madison Eagles, and others have solidified her position as a major player within the SHIMMER ranks. Kana has appeared on every SHIMMER event since her arrival at SHIMMER 41, and will continue that trend during SHIMMER 58-61 weekend.

NIKKI STORM

Scotland’s Nikki Storm has quickly become one of the top women on the European wrestling scene. Nikki currently competes on all-female events promoted by companies such as Pro Wrestling EVE, Bellatrix, and ICW Fierce Females. She also had the opportunity to add Japan’s JWP promotion to her growing resume earlier this year. North America is next on the agenda for Nikki Storm, and we’re pleased to have her as part of the SHIMMER roster for October’s events in Berwyn. Visit www.nikkistorm.com to learn more about her.

AYAKO HAMADA

Ever since her arrival in 2009, Ayako Hamada has been an essential member of the SHIMMER roster. One of the most accomplished female athletes in professional wrestling history, Ayako has been in some of the most exciting SHIMMER matches over the years. From her wild brawl throughout the Eagles Club against Sara Del Rey, to her hard hitting technical wrestling clinics against opponents such as Mercedes Martinez, Daizee Haze, Cheerleader Melissa, Madison Eagles and Kana, Hamada has earned the recognition of being SHIMMER’s “MVP.” Along with her SHIMMER Tag Team Championship partner Ayumi Kurihara, Ayako has also made vital contributions to the SHIMMER tag team division. Next month, Ayako brings her unmatched skill to the ring in Berwyn once again for SHIMMER 58-61!

JESSICKA HAVOK

One of the most intimidating women in professional wrestling today, Jessicka Havok caught everyone’s attention by coming out of the crowd and attacking Serena Deeb at SHIMMER 53 earlier this year. The two battled later that day, as well as on subsequent events at the Berwyn Eagles Club, giving the SHIMMER fans a sample of the brutality which she can unleash on her opponents. In addition to the SHIMMER 58-61 events, Havok will also be a part of the AAW show at the Berwyn Eagles Club that Friday night, Oct. 18th.

HIKARU SHIDA

One of the brightest young stars on the women’s wrestling scene in Japan is 25 year-old Hikaru Shida. Ever since her pro debut in 2008, Shida has been an integral part of the Ice Ribbon promotion, where she is currently one half of the tag team champions with partner Tsukasa Fujimoto. Additionally, Shida frequently competes on events promoted by OZ Academy and Pro Wrestling WAVE. Through the assistance of the Joshi 4 Hope office, next month Hikaru Shida will compete in the United States for the very first time, as she joins the internationally flavored SHIMMER roster!

Look for more women to be added to the talent list for SHIMMER 58-61 during the remaining weeks leading up to the events. Over 30 of the top women athletes from around the world will be a part of the festivities!

SHIMMER 58-61 will take place at the Berwyn Eagles Club (6309 26th Street) in Berwyn, IL on Saturday & Sunday, October 19th & 20th, 2013. Bell time on Saturday, October 19th is 2pm. Bell time on Sunday, October 20th is 1pm. The events are suitable for all ages.

Over half of the tickets for the events have already been sold. Don’t miss out! Front row reserved seating is already completely sold out for the entire weekend. General admission tickets are still available, at a cost of $30 per full day of taping (two DVD volumes worth of live matches each day, so essentially $15 per DVD). You may use the PayPal buttons at shimmerwrestling.blogspot.com/p/tickets.html to purchase tickets online. If you need to purchase tickets via money order, send an E-mail to [email protected] for mail order instructions. Due to limited seating in the small venue, we strongly suggest that you purchase tickets in advance if you plan to attend.
