Lash Legend Defeats Piper Niven; Tiffany Stratton Comes Down With The Flu, Candice LeRae Steps Up

Friday Night SmackDown made its way to Columbia, South Carolina’s Colonial Life Arena this week for another night of action from the blue brand.

A scheduled tag team match between Women’s Champion Nia Jax plus Tiffany Stratton against Bayley and Naomi was cancelled by Nick Aldis after Stratton fell sick with the flu, according to Jax who was on the phone with her. Aldis said that the match was cancelled unless she could find a partner. Coincidentally, Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell happen to enter Aldis’s office with the intention of offering their services to Jax as a partner. Since LeRae is the inaugural Women’s Speed Champion, her and Hartwell believe it only makes sense that a champion team up with a fellow champion. This idea “smells like money” to Aldis and thus LeRae is Jax’s new partner. The Queen of the Ring is not pleased, warning LeRae that she better hold up her end of the bargain, or she will end her. Nonetheless, the Speed champion and Hartwell are excited to be involved the match.

Piper Niven and Chelsea Green made their way out to the ring for Niven’s match with Lash Legend in what is her and Jakara Jackson’s latest appearance on the main roster shows. Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair are spotted watching the match from the crowd.

The match starts off with Niven and Legend doing some trash talking, which quickly escalates into a shoving contest. Legend tries to make an early cover after a big boot, but Niven kicks out. The action keeps quite a back-and-forth pace between both competitors, with each trying to lay waste to each other but not being able to put each other out. The Bougie Bully got a good reaction after performing a body slam on Niven but would get distracted by Green; that would backfire as Green was then thrown into the barricade by Jackson. With Legend not focused on her opponent, who still managed to stand up after the body slam, it was Niven’s opportunity to cheap shot her, nearly setting up a pin attempt, but Legend would get out of the way and lift Niven, this one proving successful as she got a pinfall victory.

Cargill and Belair were surprised by the victory, but raised their championships in the air as this victory for Lash is a victory for both her and Jackson, ensuring that they will remain credible contenders in the women’s tag team ranks.

With almost a half-hour left in the show, the tag team match was due to commence. The action started initially with all four women tagging each other in. Bayley charged to attack Jax but was immediately thrown into the turnbuckle by her before the champion tagged in LeRae. Bayley had an easier time holding LeRae down and tagged in Naomi. The Poison Pixie then ran to tag in Jax, at which point her and Naomi were the legal competitors. Jax continued to execute some offense on The Girl with Glow, getting a near fall before a commercial break.

The show returned from commercial just as Naomi and Jax would tag their respective partners back into the match, with Bayley giving LeRae a quick flurry of attacks. Jax would interrupt a cover from The Role Model, but would get kicked by Naomi in retaliation, with the two taking their fight outside the ring. Hartwell finally made her presence felt outside the ring, slamming Bayley into the turnbuckle as the referee tended to LeRae inside the ring. Surprisingly, LeRae would hit a moonsault and actually win for her team. A seemingly upset Jax had her hand raised by the referee while LeRae and Hartwell smiled.

But, tonight Aminata looks to teach her some respect as she will step up to “The CEO” for an opportunity at the TBS Championship.

Moné is confident going into this match with her muscle, Kamille, at her side. But, Aminata catches The CEO and tests her power against the more experienced Moné. Aminata smacks the taste out of Kamille, but Moné catches her off guard.

The CEO is in control and manages to snake her way out of Aminata’s offense for a while until she gets caught with an Air Raid Crash. Aminata manages to disorient Moné with some heavy offense, but The CEO comes back with her patented Meteora. The Statement Maker gets locked in and Aminata taps as The CEO retains on top.

Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend discuss their desire to take down Damage CTRL and capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, setting the stage for future confrontations.

Lola Vice vs. Nikkita Lyons

Lola Vice starts strong by knocking down Lyons and showboating a bit. However, Lyons quickly turns the tables, using her power to corner Vice. Vice takes advantage of a missed charge into the post and takes the fight to the mat, where she pounds away at Lyons. After a running hip attack in the corner, Jaida Parker arrives for a distraction. This gives Lyons the opportunity to score the pinfall.

Winner: Nikkita Lyons

WWE Women’s Tag Team Division Heats Up

The ever critical WWE women’s tag team division has received a bit of spice with Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson eyeing up the gold.

On the Oct. 11 SmackDown, Legend and Jackson challenged the champions, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill in a losing effort. But, the Meta-two did not go away. On the Oct. 14 episode of Raw, the duo sat front row and were crucial to the ending of Belair and Cargill vs. Damage CTRL. A swift punch from Legend to IYO SKY is what changed the direction of the match and allowed the champions to retain.

In a WWE Exclusive video, Legend and Jackson were asked about their actions. They said that they aren’t finished in their quest for gold and that no one, including Damage CTRL, is going to get in their way.

SKY took to social media responding that she can’t just take a punch and be done with it.

As for the champions, they welcome the competition and the addition of Jackson and Legend is making things interesting.

Liv Morgan Narrowly Escapes MITB Cash In!! Cargill & Belair Retain Tag Team Titles

0

RAW kicks off with Rhea Ripley, fired up and out for blood, declaring she’s not done with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. But before she can lay out her plan, Tiffany Stratton interrupts, delivering a message from Nia Jax: Ripley should steer clear of Jax’s business. Rhea, unfazed, challenges Stratton to a welcome party, Ripley style. Before anything can happen, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez charge the ring, and chaos erupts.

Morgan swings the Money in the Bank briefcase, laying out Stratton and standing tall alongside Rodriguez as the dust settles.

Stratton’s appearance was less surprising due to the taping schedule, but the ongoing cross-brand chaos kept things interesting. The seeds of Stratton potentially cashing in on Morgan are being well sown.

Backstage, Ripley demands a match against Morgan and Rodriguez from Adam Pearce. He agrees, but Ripley has to find a partner. Enter Tiffany Stratton again, much to Ripley’s annoyance. Pearce suggests the two team up, and, surprisingly, Rhea agrees.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair vs. Damage CTRL (IYO SKY & Kairi Sane)

Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson watch from the crowd as the champs, Cargill and Belair, kick off against SKY and Sane. Cargill asserts her dominance early, and Belair keeps the momentum. Sane tags in, and Damage CTRL doubles up on Belair, with Sane hitting a dive on Cargill outside the ring.

After the break, SKY grounds Belair, but she fights back with a Spear. Cargill and Sane go at it, with Sane locking in a sleeper, only for Cargill to muscle out. A powerbomb from Cargill nearly ends it, but SKY and Sane rally with a double-team elbow. Cargill and Belair regain control, slamming Sane into the barricade. SKY hits a springboard moonsault but gets distracted by Legend and Jackson at ringside, allowing Belair to hit the KOD for the win.

Winners and still WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill

Belair and Cargill remain a dominant force, but SKY and Sane gave them a run for their money. The interference from Legend and Jackson added another layer to the match, keeping the NXT duo relevant.

Backstage, Rhea Ripley meets with Damian Priest, who reassures her that as long as she has issues with the Judgment Day, so does he. But first, he has his eyes back on championship gold.

Rhea Ripley & Tiffany Stratton vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez

The unusual pairing of Ripley and Stratton faced Morgan and Rodriguez next. Ripley dominated early on, but when Stratton tagged in, her athleticism shone, taking the fight to Rodriguez and sending her outside. A miscommunication between Ripley and Stratton allowed Morgan and Rodriguez to capitalize.

After the break, Morgan and Rodriguez took control. Rodriguez hit Stratton with a suplex, but Ripley tagged in and cleared house. Just when it seemed Ripley had the match won, Nia Jax stormed in and attacked her, causing the ref to call for the bell.

Result: No Contest

Jax didn’t stop there, helping Stratton to her feet, only to be blindsided by Ripley. As the chaos ensued, Morgan took out Ripley, but Jax wasn’t done, slamming Morgan with the Annihilator. Stratton teased cashing in her briefcase, but Dominik Mysterio arrived just in time to save Morgan.

The Ripley-Stratton dynamic was an interesting twist, and Raquel Rodriguez’s return added firepower to the match. Jax’s interference was predictable but effective in building up her feud with Morgan.
