Nia and Tiffany Partnership Stays Strong; Belair and Cargill Go Face-To-Face With Fyre and Dawn

Tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown was a pre-taped episode from the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska as the roster is currently overseas in Japan.

To start the show, LA Knight took on Santos Escobar, who was accompanied by Elektra Lopez. Her main involvement in the match was to slap Knight in the face. Escobar would go on to lose, but he and United States Champion Logan Paul would team up to attack Knight after the match.

First up was Naomi, who was interviewed by Byron Saxton following her attack at the hands of Blair Davenport two weeks ago. Naomi said that she doesn’t know what Blair’s issue is with her, but can tell that she’s trying to play mind games, which won’t work. Naomi says that not only will she make Blair feel the glow, she’ll make her respect it. Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair join in on the interview, letting her know that they have to handle some business with Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn.

The show returns from commercial as Cargill and Belair make their way out to the ring. Bianca feels like The Unholy Union has been ghosting her and Jade since winning the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Clash at the Castle. But where are the champions? Right behind them! Fyre and Dawn attack Cargill and Belair from behind, but it backfires quickly as they get manhandled by both women outside the ring.

A video package was shown after of WWE’s current tour of Japan. The women featured included video footage and still photos of Damage CTRL, Liv Morgan, Asuka, and Meiko Satomura.

Backstage, Tiffany Stratton was shown sighing in the locker room over the sight of her busted up Money in the Bank briefcase. Queen Nia Jax walks up to her, telling the Buff Barbie that she’ll get her a new briefcase, and that she could still cash in on Bayley, but she has her guaranteed match at SummerSlam. Tiffany’s main motive for tonight is to get revenge on Bayley.

Michin would make her entrance for the main event tag team match, but would soon become the victim of a cheap shot by Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. That would be stopped by Michin’s partner Bayley. The WWE Women’s Champion would come out running and ready to swing a kendo stick at Jax and Stratton. The attack would lead to a 2-on-1 advantage at the start of the match, although Bayley was able to hold her own against Stratton. Michin eventually got up but Jax made sure to hit a Samoan drop on the outside to incapacitate her once again, with the heel team gaining the upper hand both before and after commercials.

It would take a few minutes for Bayley to finally regain ground, as Michin was able to stand up and get a tag in after two unsuccessful attempts from Bayley. Michin scored a near pinfall on Stratton, who kicked out as each team remained unwilling to lose. Bayley would get hit in the face with Tiffany’s MITB briefcase while the referee wasn’t paying attention, costing her the match as Jax hit the Annihilator for the win.

Here’s what’s scheduled for next week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown:

  • The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) (c) vs Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
