During a media scrum for WrestleMania 35, Nia Jax disclosed the reason why her rumored match with Dean Ambrose was scrapped. Jax claimed that a scheduling conflict with Total Divas was the issue.
“Unfortunately, my schedule…they didn’t have the schedule right and had Total Divas that I had to go to so it was more of the scheduling was off and we couldn’t make it work, ” Jax said to members of the media (h/t Fightful for the transcription).
The planned bout with Ambrose was built off of Jax’s appearance in the 2019 men’s Royal Rumble. Nia Jax entered as the thirtieth entrant and eliminated Mustafa Ali before being eliminated herself.
It seemed like WWE wanted to see how this intergender angle would play out with Jax. So, they had her interrupt and attack Dean Ambrose on an episode of RAW.
Shortly thereafter, ads began making the rounds for a Nia Jax versus Dean Ambrose singles match set to go live at a live event in Jonesboro, Arkansas on February 22nd.
The match would ultimately be scrapped and the angle was dropped. Fans were never given a proper explanation until Jax’s comments this weekend.
