NWA EmPowerrr Preview & Predictions: 08.28.21

NWA makes history this weekend with their first-ever all-women pay-per-view EmPowerrr

On June 8, Mickie James debuted on NWA Powerrr to put women’s wrestling in the spotlight and announce the monumental event. Over the following month’s James added some of the biggest and best names in women’s wrestling that will participate on the show.

The card is stacked with a total of nine matches, four of which are first-time-ever affairs. The event hosts multiple wrestlers from different promotions and is set to be an excellent and ground-breaking spectacle.

The first-ever NWA Women’s Champion was Mildred Burke and NWA Owner Billy Corgan has obtained her original belt. It will be displayed during the EmPowerrr event.

Let’s get to the bumper edition of predictions!

Kylie Rae vs Diamante vs Chik Tormenta – Interpromotional Three Way

Said to be kicking off the show is this Interpromotional Three Way match.

Another match that features talent from different promotions going at it. Kylie Rae of NWA, Diamante of AEW, and Chik Tormenta of AAA is a first-time fight that holds a lot of intrigue.

Rae and Diamante are competitors that boast a tonne of potential. Tormenta is an eleven-year veteran and regular for AAA. She had a stint in IMPACT! Wrestling in 2019 where she teamed with Jordynne Grace and Rosemary. Expect a lot of fire and ferocity in this match.

Predictions:

John: Kylie Rae has a great start in NWA and looks invigorated since her surprise debut. Therefore expect to see her with her hand raised once the triple threat dust has settled.

Nick: With Kylie facing Mickie James tomorrow night at NWA73 it would shock me if she went in with a loss under her belt. Although I could see Tormenta taking this as well, I am going with Ms. Smiley.

Kamille vs Leyla Hirsch NWA World Women’s Championship

The dynamics of this match is worth the price of admission alone. Kamille is a six-foot powerhouse who is as threatening and intimidating as they come.

Hirsch is as her moniker states is a legitimate shooter but at under five feet has a clear size disadvantage.

The match will be a battle of pure unfiltered power against technical prowess.

Predictions:

John: Each wrestler boasts a significant and contrasting skill set that makes this match a must-see outing. Hirsch impresses every time she is in the ring due to her unique style and Kamille may find herself in trouble at times. But Kamille is just too imposing and one of the most dominating women in wrestling history. Kamille wins to retain the NWA World Women’s Championship.

Nick: Kamille. I do love the spitfire that Hirsch brings, but I don’t see Kamille losing here. Not with more eyes on NWA and her being a fairly new champion. I think the sheer difference in appearance will make for a good match though.

Deonna Purrazzo vs Melina IMPACT! Wrestling Knockouts Championship

Another exciting and intriguing first-time match that pits a current legend against a future one for the Knockouts title. Two different generations of wrestlers signed to different companies clashing in a championship match. Deonna Purrazzo vs Melina is a match that encapsulates everything great about Empowerrr.

Since joining IMPACT! Purrazzo has established herself as a formidable presence within the Knockouts division. Her in-ring and mic work is excellent and she has commanded the attention and the respect of the wrestling world.

Melina already has the respect of the audience. She is a legend of the business and an inspiration for generations of female talent. She knows all of the tricks of the trade meaning the Virtuoso will have to be at the top of her game when she gets steps inside the ropes to face Melina.

Predictions:

John: Purrazzo is yet to come across an opponent quite like Melina and will undoubtedly have a fight on her hands. Despite Melina’s fire and experience, the Virtuosa leaves Empowerrr the same she sauntered in, with the Knockouts championship around her waist.

Nick: Gotta go with Deonna. I get to some people her reign has run its course. But having her drop it before Bound for Glory in October at this point would be interesting. I hope she continues this animosity towards Mickie Jame though and we get the two of them at BFG.

NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament

The Hex Allysin Kay & Marti Belle vs. Hell on Heels Renee Michelle & Sahara 7.

Red Velvet & KiLynn King vs. The FreeBabes Jazzy Yang, Hollyhood Haley J, and Miranda Gordy.

The winner of both matches face off to become the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champions.

The NWA Tag Team Championships return to the promotion after nearly forty years. The four teams challenging for the titles all have a decent chance to go all the way.

Predictions:

John: Allysin Kay and Marti Belle return to NWA after leaving the promotion last year. Kay and Belle make a good team and have teamed together before. Therefore, they hold the advantage over the rest and expect them to be crowned new champions. However, the IInspiration turning up and taking to the titles would be something special.

Nick: Rather excited for this one. I see the final two teams being The Hex vs. Red Velvet & KiLynn King. I will give this to The Hex. Good way to get Kay signed back with NWA if that’s where this is leading. The IInspiration showing up would be a fantastic boost.

Kenzie Paige vs. Paola Mayfield

Paola Mayfield is a name that many may not be familiar with in wrestling, but all that is about to change. Trained by the infamous Lowki the 90-day Fiance star is set to turn heads in the industry.

With only two years of experience, Kenzie Page has done a lot in such a short amount of time. She has appeared for AEW Dark and is now on NWA’s monumental PPV.

Predictions:

John: Paola Mayfield is included to bring eyes to the show so expect to see her victorious at Empowerrr.

Nick: Kenzie Paige.

Christi Jaynes vs. Skye Blue

Christi Jaynes is a mainstay on the US indies right now and looked really good in AEW last year. Another great addition to the event. Her opponent Sky Blue who is also making name for herself on the indies and looks to do it in NWA.

Predictions:

John: Both are great upcoming talents but Christi Jaynes has that bit more experience, which will come into play and get her the win.

Nick: I enjoy both and both are definitely rising stars. Skye Blue defeated Hyan recently in an I Quit match for AAW. She also was in a number one contender match for the same promotion against Jaynes and Jody Threat. I will have to give this one to Jaynes but just by a hair.

Tootie Lynn, Jamie Senegal, Chelsea Green, Lady Frost, Debbie Malenko, Bianca Carelli, JENNACIDE, Masha Slamovich, Thunder Kitty, and Kiera Hogan – Women’s Invitational Cup

The main event of Empowerrr is the inaugural NWA Women’s Invitational. The participants in the match reads like a who’s who of names on the scene right now.

The sheer mix of competitors all bringing different styles and skills to the bout will be a sight to behold.

The Royal Rumble style match has high stakes attached as the winner goes on to challenge for the NWA World Women’s Championship at NWA73.

Predictions:

John: Tough one to call due to the eclectic mix of talent challenging for the trophy. Expecting great showings from Jamie Senegal and Masha Slamovich but JENNACIDE is the pick to win the first-ever NWA Women’s Invitational Trophy.

Nick: There are a few names I can see taking this. However, the one that makes the most logical is JENNACIDE. She has done the most with NWA out of any of the women in this match. Unless we see a signing out of someone else in this match, my gut tells me it is the woman who is often seen with the promotion.
