On this week’s episode of NWA Powerrr Melina forced herself into a match against Thunder Rosa for the NWA Women’s World Championship next week. There has been growing dissent between the two former companions since Thunder Rosa captured the title at the Hard Times PPV last month.
The episode recapped last week’s goings-on that centred around the title and the animosity between the trio of Thunder Rosa, Melina and Marti Belle. Belle requested an interview in which she pledged her allegiance with Melina until her former friend Allysin Kay came out to try and talk some sense into her. Belle would have none of it and leave the interview area.
It was announced last week that Melina had demanded a title match from NWA management. However, management said they would not grant her a title opportunity due to the fact she had not wrestled enough in NWA. In order to do so, NWA management said Melina would have to “prove herself” against Tasha Steelz before being allowed a title shot.
The match started off with Tasha Steelz offering the hand of respect to Melina, who slapped it away and a shoving match ensued. Steelz would attack with a barrage of forearms. Melina would counter with a nasty looking headlock driver. The two competitors would trade strikes and moves back and forth until Melina gained control with the ground and pound. Steelz would make a comeback and hit a neck breaker for the two-count. Melina would fire up and hit an iffy looking suplex for the near fall, followed by a big suplex and Primal Scream for the win.
This match was all about Melina with Tasha Steelz making her strong in the process. Melina looked good in the match and proved that she can still go in the ring despite a few hiccups.
After the match, Melina took to the mic and stared straight into the camera stating that she was the “living legend” and shouldn’t have to prove herself. She then set the title match against Thunder Rosa for next week. David Marquez would question Melina on who stationed the match, to which Melina retorted it was “sanctioned by Melina.”
So next week we have stablemate vs stablemate for the coveted NWA Women’s World Championship too, in my opinion, fully solidify Thunder Rosa’s face turn and make her the face of the NWA women’s division.
Another fun episode of NWA Powerrr that gave us storyline progression, character development and a reason to watch next week’s programme. Love it.
