NXT 2.0 New Year’s Evil Preview & Predictions: 01.04.22

NXT 2.0 starts 2022 with a bang with their New Year’s Evil event featuring Mandy Rose, Raquel Gonzalez, and Cora Jade in a Triple Threat Match for the NXT Women’s Championship.

The trio has been on a collision course for months with animosity taking the rivalry into WarGames and now New Year’s Evil with the title on the line. Cora and Raquel were on the same team at WarGames with Cora getting the pin for their team. Now, it is all gloves off as they are chasing the gold.

Rose shocked the wrestling world when she defeated Gonzalez for the title at Halloween Havoc back in October. Gonzalez was blindsided by her former friend Dakota Kai who cost her the match and the championship she held for 202-days.

After exacting revenge on Kai in a brutal Street Fight, Big Mami Cool turned her focus back to the title and called out the champ. Instead of Rose answering the call, Jade, riding high after scoring the win at WarGames, emerged at the entrance staking her claim for revenge on Toxic Attraction and the women’s title.

Mandy Rose finally appeared on the big screen living it up on vacation. She explained she wanted to kill two ugly birds with one stone and issued a Triple Threat match with her title on the line before Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne beat the challengers down in devastating fashion.

Predictions:

John: This is a tricky one as all three competitors can walk away with the title. Mandy Rose is a great champion and as leader of the new generation of women in NXT 2.0, I don’t see her dropping the title. However, Cora Jade is receiving a huge push and is at the forefront of the new generation so definitely in with a shout. Raquel Gonzalez is a powerhouse who always holds the advantage but I feel she is destined for a main roster call up most likely at the Royal Rumble.

So, as much as I would like to say Jade is winning I don’t think it is her time just yet and Mandy Rose will retain with help from Toxic Attraction.

Nick: I will echo John’s prediction. I’d say it is too soon to take the title off of Mandy just yet, especially with Toxic Attraction free to help out. Cora is definitely being pushed as the future and this could be Raquel’s last shot in NXT before most likely appearing in the Rumble/getting called up.
