Tonight’s NXT has two matches on the schedule and both surround potential future title opportunities.
First is a match that was announced last week which is Mercedes Martinez taking on Dakota Kai. Ever since Raquel Gonzalez became NXT Women’s Champion at Stand & Deliver, Martinez has had gold in her sight. Last week, Martinez responded to Kai’s sentiments which alluded that Martinez was delusional if she felt that she was going to get a title shot. Martinez is hoping that if she beats Kai then there will be no one standing in her way for a championship match.
The second match that was just announced is a non-title match between the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon facing The Robert Stone Brand (Aliyah & Jessi Kamea). In a Network Exclusive, the trio was seen outside with Robert Stone saying that once Aliyah and Kamea become number one contenders after tonight, they will have all the power.
Aaliyah chimed in saying they intend on beating Blackheart & Moon not just once but twice. Kamea adds, “I mean — look at us, and look at them.”
Indi Hartwell did announce last week to a beaten down Candice LeRae that she got them a tag team match against the champions as well. What more will come from this tonight and what does the future hold for InDex as well.
