The captain of Team Kick Dakota Kai and the Cat’s Meow Aliyah will square off with one another on tonight’s brand new episode of NXT. As of now, no official contender has been announced for new NXT women’s champion Kairi Sane. However, with tonight’s matchup, Dakota or Aliyah could put themselves in the conversation with a victory.
Regarding this evening’s contest, WWE.com’s official wrote the following:
“As the crowning of NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane ushers in a new era for the black-and-yellow brand, fresh competition begins to boil. With no shortage of contenders focused on the championship prize, two of NXT’s fiercest competitors look to make their presence felt as Dakota Kai takes on Aliyah in a one-on-one matchup. Between The Captain of Team Kick and The Cat’s Meow, who will prevail?”
After NXT, the WWE Network will this year’s Mae Young Classic Bracketology ahead of the tournament’s premiere next week:
All of the first-round matches in this year’s Mae Young Classic will be revealed on WWE Network’s Mae Young Classic Bracketology special, streaming tonight immediately following WWE NXT.
For the first time, you can see the lay of the land of WWE’s second annual women’s tournament, featuring 32 of the top competitors from around the globe.
WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, who is slated to call the action of the Mae Young Classic alongside Renee Young and Michael Cole, will join The Voice of NXT, Mauro Ranallo, on the Bracketology special to break down the first-round matchups and take a deep look at this year’s competitors.
