Ahead of this Sunday’s WrestleMania 30, WWE.com spoke to NXT stars about their favorite Mania moments.
NXT Divas Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Bayley shared their favorites, all of them choosing moments involving “Mr. WrestleMania” himself, Shawn Michaels.
Charlotte opted for a moment that featured her father, Ric Flair:
“My favorite WrestleMania moment is from WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando in 2008 when my dad (Ric Flair) faced Shawn Michaels. I was able to sit front row with my three other siblings and watch my dad wrestle for the last time in his career with WWE. To sit and watch over 82,000 people stand and applaud someone who gave their entire life to this industry is a surreal moment. I know it was the proudest and hardest moment of my dad’s life, and everyone in that stadium could feel and share the same emotion with our family.”
Sasha Banks, meanwhile, picked the first WrestleMania match between Michaels and The Undertaker:
“One of my favorite moments was WrestleMania XXV and the very first WrestleMania match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Right from the beginning, when The Undertaker and Shawn stood across the ring from each other and the crowd was going crazy, I genuinely sat there thinking, ‘Whoa, I don’t know if The Undertaker can win this one.’ Moments like that are why I love this business.”
Lastly, Bayley picked the iconic moment when Michaels’s “boyhood dream” came true:
“WrestleMania XII with Shawn Michaels, when the boyhood dream came true. The picture of him holding the WWE Championship in his lap with tears streaming down his face got me a little choked up. No matter how many times they play it in highlight reels, it’s one of those pictures that really is worth a thousand words. I feel every ounce of emotion Shawn felt because of that, the way everyone who ever achieves their dreams would feel.”
