These past few months have seen Nia Jax take on all comers as she rose up the ranks of the NXT Women’s Division while Asuka waited with the championship at the top. It was only a matter of time before the two met after Jax injured Bayley during a rematch from NXT: TakeOver London, putting the hugster’s championship rematch against Asuka on the back burner. Jax emerged victorious from a triple threat match against Alexa Bliss and Carmella to determine a new number one contender for the title.
Tonight during NXT TakeOver: The End…Asuka overcame Jax’s power to retain the women’s championship.
Jax took the fight to Asuka early on, overpowering her at every turn. She pulled out all the stops with a vertical suplex, powerbombs, and mat slams to keep Asuka down.
Asuka kept fighting though and caught Jax in a variety of submissions. But those submissions were no match to Jax’s strength. However, it was Asuka’s quick strikes and kicks that finally brought Jax down to the ground where Asuka put her away.
