NXT’s first-ever two-night event is here. Night one of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver takes place tonight and features the highly anticipated women’s title match in the main event. Io Shirai defends the NXT Women’s Championship against her toughest opponent to date, Raquel Gonzalez.
The match is months in the making. Ever since Gonzalez pinned the Genius of the Sky at NXT TakeOver: WarGames last year. Since then the two have only crossed paths in tag team action, which saw the challenger victorious.
Shirai confronted Gonzalez and named her as her next opponent to which she gladly accepted. The two clashed violently throughout the course of last week’s show building up the hype and excitment for tonight’s match.
Gonzalez is tearing through NXT’s women’s division and destroyed the champion several times en route to the match. But as we have seen many times in the past Shirai is near invincible and defeated all comers. Therefore, to pick a winner from the battle for the title is extremely difficult. But one thing is for sure we can expect brutality, tenacity and beautiful violence.
