For next week’s NXT UK, a match is set between Blair Davenport and Emilia McKenzie. The match came about after Davenport approached McKenzie and NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura backstage. Satomura will be heading back to Japan for the next few weeks.
Davenport has been circling around Satomura and her student McKenzie for some time now. Since debuting in NXT UK, Davenport hasn’t had a championship match yet, but if she is able to defeat McKenzie next week things may be looking in her favor.
Speaking of the NXT UK Women’s Championship, Satomura defended and retained her belt at the beginning of this week’s show against Xia Brookside. The final moments of the match have Satomura missing with a kick followed by Brookside hitting a codebreaker. Coming off a two count, the two competitors change strikes before Satomura hits Scorpio Rising to get the pin and the win.
Since becoming champion, Satomura has defeated Amale, Stevie Turner, Jinny, and now Xia Brookside to retain her championship. She defeated the longest-reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray in June ending her 649-day reign.
