The latest set of NXT UK tapings took place in Hull, England on Nov. 15 and 16.
There was a few shocks and surprises reported by @DeiOwen who was on attendance for both shows.
At the beginning of the night, it was announced that NXT UK would be returning to where it all began, Blackpool for NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool II on Jan. 11. 2020. The two shows were centred around the announcement and built up towards NXT UK’s third Takeover event.
Night 1 Nov. 15 tapings
Piper Niven continued her winning ways by picking up a victory against the Fashionista, Jinny Couture.
After the match, Niven stated that she was gunning for Kay Lee Ray and the NXT UK Women’s Championship. Ray came out for a fight but in the surprise of the night, a returning Toni Storm made the save.
Later on the in evening Toni Storm defeated Killer Kelly in a super short match. After the match, Kay Lee Ray attacked Storm and Piper Niven returned Storm’s earlier favour and made the save. Niven extended her hand in friendship only to get snubbed by Storm.
That was the end of the night of tapings, which saw the shock return of Toni Storm, who was rumoured to be heading across the pond to NXT a few months ago, with many believing she may have been involved in WarGames. However, it seems Storm has some unfinished business in the UK and I believe the value of her name is far too high for the UK division to lose just yet.
Night 2 Nov. 16 Tapings
Kay Lee Ray defeated Isla Dawn. After the match, Ray cut a promo on Piper Niven and Toni Storm, who came out to fight. The crafty Ray pushed Storm into Niven causing further friction between the two. Sid Scala then came out to announce that all three will fight for the NXT UK Women’s Championship at TakeOver: Blackpool II in a Triple Threat match.
Following that mega announcement, we saw the debut of Amale, who was defeated by Jinny and then suffered a vicious beatdown courtesy of Jazzy Gabert.
Toni Storm heads out to ring to address the crowd and explain her absence from the ring. Storm said Kay Lee Ray had put her in a really dark place and asks Niven to step aside so she face Ray one on one. Niven answers Storm with a headbutt, which I guess means no.
That wraps up the reports from Hull but the tapings leave us with an awesome feud between two fan favourites and nasty heel for the NXT UK Women’s Championship. I assure you that the resulting Triple Threat match at NXT UK Takeover Blackpool II on Jan. 11 2020 will be amazing.
