After this week’s NXT we now have three contestants out of six for the Ladder Match at TakeOver: Tampa. The next match has been announced for next week. We will see Candice LeRae take on Mercedes Martinez.
Both ladies would excel in a Ladder Match based on their veteran status in the industry. NXT fans in particular have seen that LeRae doesn’t shy away from high risked match ups. She was part of the first-ever women’s WarGames match and has leapt off the top of a steel cage.
LeRae’s last major feud was with Io Shirai but spilled into the Dakota Kai/Tegan Nox rivalry. Her last match was against Kai in a losing effort on Feb. 12.
Martinez officially signed in January although she had made several appearances with the company prior. Her last match was against Kacy Catanzaro on the Feb. 5 episode of NXT.
With both women having such long careers in this industry this should be a good match. They both had many matches against each other in the indies and even fought over the SHIMMER Championship.
The winner will join Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox, and two other qualifiers at TakeOver.
Both would be a great opportunity to join the number one contender Ladder Match.
