Nyla Rose won her semi-final match on tonight’s Dynamite to advance in the AEW Women’s World Eliminator Tournament. Her opponent was Britt Baker who was an odds-on favorite to make it further in the brackets. Rose defeated Tay Conti after an impressive outing in the first round whereas Baker defeated Madi Wrenkowski.
As this match came towards its conclusion Baker rolls up Rose and goes for the Lockjaw. Rose ends up powering out and gets a near fall. Baker executes a crucifix bomb for a near fall before attempting the Lockjaw again. Rose again avoids it and delivers a punch to her opponent’s face. Rose then hits a Beast Bomb for another near fall and then goes for a Tombstone Piledriver. Baker avoids this but goes right into another Beast Bomb and this time Rose gets the pin and the win.
Rose’s advancement puts her into the finals of the U.S. side of the tournament. She will face the winner of the other semi-final match between Thunder Rosa vs. Riho.
Rosa vs. Riho will take place this Sunday on Bleacher Report. This will be the first time these two meet in the ring.
The other side of the bracket is the Japan side and they already have their final match set. That match will be Yuka Sakazaki vs. Ryo Mizunami which will also take place on Sunday.
The eventual winner of the tournament will be facing Hikaru Shida at Revolution on March 7 for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
There will be a six-woman tag team also featuring some of the women that didn’t advance in the tournament along with Shida.
