AEW has finally announced the AEW Women’s World Championship match for their upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view. It will have the champion Nyla Rose defend her title against Hikaru Shida. Shida earned this title shot after winning a four-way on last night’s Dynamite.
The match mentioned above was between Shida, Kris Statlander, Penelope Ford, and Britt Baker. Shida has been on a winning streak as of late and she continued with picking up another win after she struck Ford with a backbreaker and then a knee strike to pin her for the win. As a result, she protects her number one ranking and now has a title match looming.
Shida has been on the heels of the championship since the start of the organization. She fell short leading into the inaugural championship and up until recently she wasn’t picking up the wins needed.
Rose, on the other hand, was in that inaugural match but lost to Riho who became the first champion. She was able to win the title to become the second-ever champion on a February episode of Dynamite.
The two collide in a No Disqualification and No Count-Out match with the top prize on the line at Double or Nothing on May 23.
