On the indy scene, NYWC’s upcoming show “A Matter of Pride Vol. 2” is shaping up to be a landmark event. But an exclusive source clues us in on more.
Our source tells us that show runner, “The Boy Diva” Rick Cataldo has been in talks with reality television producers to cover the event in a pilot for an upcoming show. The show will revolve around LGBT wrestlers and Rick’s personal relations and involvement within the world of women’s wrestling in particular.
While Cataldo is male, The Boy Diva’s history within women’s wrestling runs deep. Current Fella Twins Academy members Maria Manic and Penelope Ford will credit him as a mentor and a trainer. He has worked with the likes of current NXT Superstar Kimber Lee, current SHIMMER Champion Mercedes Martinez, current SHINE Champion LuFisto, Annie Social, Becky Bayless and Marti Belle. With his antics and provocative gimmick these programs rocked the scene and were highly entertaining in the Northeast indy circuit.
The prospect of a reality show with a focus of independent women’s wrestling is sure to be exciting. This could be a great opportunity to further give exposure and push the revolution on this level in the industry.
Members of the Diva Dirt team will be in attendance to cover this show. “A Matter of Pride Vol. 2” will take place Saturday, June 17th at the NYWC Sportatorium in Deer Park, NY. (Just a reminder that Diva Dirt is sponsoring an intergender match pitting Maria Manic against The Boy Diva for “A Matter of Pride Vol.2”)
