Over the Top Wrestling (OTT) have announced their first women’s match of the year on Twitter this morning. OTT will kick off the New Year with the latest edition of Contenders, featuring both established stars and up-and-coming talent. Contenders 12 saw both Valkyrie and Debbie Keitel turn on their tag partners, Katey Harvey and Amy Allonsy. Harvey and Allonsy will team with OTT Women’s Champion Raven Creed to exact revenge on Valkyrie and Keitel, backed by Veda Scott.
Tensions have built in recent weeks as Valkyrie and Keitel exchanged barbs on social media with Harvey, Allonsy and Creed. Creed also faced Valkyrie in a non-title match at OTT Live in Belfast 3, two weeks after Contenders 12, which Creed won by disqualification. She had Valkyrie trapped in a submission hold and seemed likely to win, but Keitel attacked her to break up the match.
Keitel and Creed have shared a legendary rivalry over the past year and a half. They’ve clashed three times for the Celtic Championship Wrestling (CCW) Women’s Title, including in Ireland’s first-ever women’s ladder match. Creed defeated Keitel at Defiant, OTT’s first all-women’s show, to qualify for a spot in the main event, a four-way elimination match for the OTT Women’s Championship. The feud seemed to reach its conclusion in their rubber match for the CCW title, a last woman standing match in which Creed triumphed. However, just days after attacking her in Belfast, Keitel answered an open challenge from Creed for a qualifying match in Breed Pro Wrestling’s inaugural women’s title tournament.
Contenders 13 will mark Veda Scott’s third appearance for OTT. She debuted at OTT’s Third Anniversary in 2017, where she unsuccessfully challenged Session Moth Martina for the OTT Women’s Championship. Scott returned at OTT That Ring Really Tied The Room Together, a farewell show to the Tivoli Theatre in Dublin, soon to be demolished. Valkyrie pinned her in a triple threat with Creed to determine the number one contender to Sammii Jayne’s title.
In addition to the six-woman tag, OTT also announced an intergender tag match featuring Session Moth Martina. The Queen of Sesh Style will team once again with the Lads from the Flats in a six-person tag against More Than Hype. Martina and LJ Cleary of More Than Hype both previously held the OTT Gender Neutral Championship. Cleary claimed the title from Martina at Contenders 7 and held it for 237 days before losing it to Mark Haskins at OTT Redemption in November.
Contenders 13 is set for January 20th, 2019, at the Ringside Club in Dublin. OTT have already scheduled two further shows for the coming year: Live in Belfast 4 at the Europa Hotel on February 3rd and HomeComing 2 at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on February 17th.
