Raw Discussion Post: 05.29.23

0

We have reached the fall out of Night of Champions and Rhea Ripley made short work of Natalya to remain SmackDown Women’s Champion.

We are looking forward to Money in the Bank and qualifying matches start tonight.

Plus there is a Fatal Four Way tonight to crown new tag champs.

Toni Storm And Kris Statlander Crowned New Champions At AEW Double Or Nothing

This year’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event featured two title changes.

In the first title match, an injured Jamie Hayter didn’t stand much of a chance to The Outcasts. Hayter was attacked before the bell, but she opted to compete anyway. Storm targeted the arm, which Hayter used to hit Hayterade for a nearfall.

Soho sprayed Hayter in the eyes, which eventually led to Storm hitting Storm Zero for the three to cap off a three-minute match. Storm is now a two-time champ.

Later, Jade Cargill and Taya Valkyrie had a physical nine-minute scrap for the TBS title. Valkyrie came so close to winning off of Road to Valhalla. But, Cargill popped back up and hit Jaded to go 60-0.

After, Mark Sterling got on the mic and said Jade was out of competition. Out walked a returning Kris Statlander, who was ready to answer an open challenge. In under a minute, Statlander evaded a pump kick and Jaded to hit a piledriver. Statlander pinned Cargill to win the title and snap the streak. This ended Cargill’s title reign at 508 days.

Elsewhere, Britt Baker and Saraya interfered in Cole vs. Jericho. As a result, it has been booked for Dynamite: Saraya & Jericho vs. Cole & Baker.

Additionally, Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara announced they are expecting their first child together.

Tiffany Stratton Crowned NXT Women’s Champion At Battleground

0

During Sunday’s NXT Battleground event, Tiffany Stratton was crowned the new NXT Women’s Champion. The title was vacated after Indi Hartwell was drafted to Raw nearly a month ago.

Stratton faced Lyra Valkyria as the two women made it to the finals of an eight woman tournament. The match was one to watch as both women showed out in a 16 minute affair. The biggest topic of discussion was Valkyria’s injured legged. After she defeated Cora Jade to advance to the finals, Jade targeted Valkyria’s leg making her less than 100%.

Even with Valkyria’s injury, the match did seem like it go go either way. However, in the end, Stratton would land the BME after a second try (Valkyria dodged it the first time), and get the three count.

This is Stratton’s first gold in NXT as she signed with the company in 2021.

Despite this being the only women’s match on the show, they were not the only women. During a Heritage Cup match between Noam Dar and Dragon Lee, Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson appeared.

First, Jackson came running down to the ring to distract the referee. Legend emerged from over the barricade to hit Dragon Lee with a bucket. This let Dar pick up the win and they all celebrated along with Oro Mensah.

A vignette aired with the hooded NXT attacker. She was watching the clips of her attacks including her most recent one against Roxanne Perez. She states that she will reveal herself this Tuesday on NXT.

2023 AEW Double Or Nothing Preview & Predictions

AEW’s Double or Nothing will be taking place tonight with two women’s matches on the card.

First, Jade Cargill will defend her undefeated streak and the TBS Title against Taya Valkyrie. The first match between the two was won by Cargill when Valkyrie was banned to use the Road to Valhalla.

The AEW Women’s World Title is also on the line where Jamie Hayter defends against Toni Storm. Hayter and Britt Baker have been in a feud with the Outcasts for months. Hayter is going into this match with a legit injury she has been dealing with for a month.

Here are our predictions:

Jade Cargill (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie

TBS Championship

NICK – This is an odd one because on one hand I don’t know why Taya is getting another shot if she doesn’t win. AEW is used to just throwing together a match so interesting that they continued with this storyline. There’s the buzz on if Kris Statlander will return tonight and to be honest them waiting for Statlander’s return to dethrone Jade is completely crazy to me. If she does return she could cost Jade the match, her title, and undefeated streak.

WINNER: Taya Valkyrie

COLBY – I was excited for this feud, but AEW lost my interest after Taya lost her first title shot. The storytelling has also dipped off since then, but the rematch is officially on. Personally, I’m tired of waiting for this potential Kris Statlander return that everyone thinks is going to save us from Jade’s never-ending reign. And I love Jade. But it’s beyond time to move on and freshen up the division.

WINNER: Taya Valkyrie

GARY – I hope these women get to silence some naysayers this weekend, the feud hasn’t been stellar and it is not helping Cargill at all as champion, I do think her reign has also run its course but I don’t think Valkyrie is ending it. Cargill gets the victory and goes 60 – 0.

WINNER: Jade Cargill

Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Toni Storm

AEW Women’s World Champion

NICK – With Hayter’s injury is is logical that she won’t get this win. I have also heard some buzz that after this match there will be some change to the women’s division whatever that will mean. I think Storm will take it and become the first woman to be a two time champ.

WINNER: Toni Storm

COLBY – There seem to be doubts over whether or not Hayter will even be able to defend, which is quite unfortunate. But if Hayter is good to go, I expect nothing short of another banger. This time, though, I’m going to go with Storm. We’ll see if The Outcasts help her get it it done or not.

WINNER: Toni Storm

GARY – This reign has been so unfair to Hayter, she has been overshadowed constantly in this Outcast feud and still been a side character Britt Baker (at least in my opinion). Add in her injury recently and it makes me believe we will get a title change here with Storm bringing the gold to The Outcasts. Storm gets to right the wrong that was her (corrected in post) interim reign as Women’s Champion and Hayter gets to heal up. Regardless, I firmly believe that Hayter deserved better.

WINNER: Toni Storm

Diva Dirt will have results after the event

2023 NXT Battleground Preview & Predictions

0

The call-up of Indi Hartwell to Raw during the draft has led us to this moment. The finals of an eight woman tournament culminates to Battleground tonight where a new champion will be crowned.

In the semi-finals, Tiffany Stratton defeated Roxanne Perez while Lyra Valkyria went over Cora Jade. That has brought us to Stratton vs. Valkyria tonight.

Here are our predictions –

NICK – This was not the finals I think that anyone expected. Despite a lot of people wantinf Tiffany to win, the writing on the walls all pointed to a Roxanne vs. Cora finals. Even though Valkyria has plenty of experience to be champion, she is still newer to the NXT audience. So with that being said, Tiffany is the likely winner.

WINNER: Tiffany Stratton

COLBY – I originally thought this would be Roxanne vs. Cora, but I’m totally cool with this bout. I wanted Tiffany in the finals anyway, but having her vs. Cora didn’t make as much sense. Lyra is proving her worth with each passing week, while Tiffany is a future main eventer in my eyes. Might as well strike while the iron’s hot and give her some gold now.

WINNER: Tiffany Stratton

GARY – Not the final two I expected but I am massive fan of both ladies. I really hope they put on a stellar match and prove they’ve earned these spots. Whoever wins I think should have a decent run with the title after two very short runs (due to injury of course and the draft) I almost feel like neither woman will be the champion and Cora Jade somehow ends up in the match after her assault on Valkyria, I don’t know how but I expect something. Failing that, I’m going to go with Lyra getting the win here (but I will be very pleased with a Stratton win).

WINNER: Lyra Valkyria

Asuka Wins Raw Women’s Title At Night Of Champions

For the first time in 420 days we have a new Raw Women’s Champion.

At Night of Champions on Saturday, Asuka defeated Bianca Belair to become a three-time Raw Women’s Champ. This would end Belair’s reign at 420 days which has her as the longest reigning women’s champion on the main roster of the modern era.

The match itself wasn’t as good as their encounter at WrestleMania, but it had its moments. Throughout the match, Asuka often targeted the hair of Belair. Towards the end of the match, Asuka missed with the mist which kept Belair still fighting. But that wouldn’t be the end of the mist.

Hanging over the middle ropes, Asuka spit some of her mist on her fingers. Belair went for the KOD but facing away from the official, Asuka used the mist to rake the eyes of Belair. Asuka would pin Belair to become the new champ.

The SmackDown Women’s Title was also on the line at this event. This match, however, was super short. On her birthday, Natalya faced Rhea Ripley for the gold. Natalya wasn’t even able to get any offense or out of the gate due to a distraction from Dominik. It only took one minute for Ripley to land Riptide on Natalya to get the win.

For the results of Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch, you can click here.

Trish Gets A Stratusfaction Victory Over Lynch… Thanks To Zoey Stark

Trish Stratus entered her first singles match in four years as she stepped foot into the ring at Night of Champions against Becky Lynch. Stratus’ gear was a homage to the black and pink gear she wore the night she main evented against Lita on Raw. Lynch took inspiration from Kill Bill in a yellow bodysuit.

This match between the Hall of Famer and one of the biggest names in the industry today was just as entertaining as you would expect. The final moments of the match had Lynch thinking she won with a ManHandle Slam. However, Lynch’s ring awareness wasn’t up to par as Stratus placed her leg on the bottom rope breaking the count.

As Lynch was dealing with the disbelief that she didn’t get the pin, Stratus rolled out of the ring. Lynch followed her which led to Stratus trying to crawl under the ring. Lynch grabbed her opponent and threw her back in the ring. This distracted the referee which allowed Zoey Stark to emerge out from under the ring.

Stark delivered the Z360 to Lynch and tossed her back in the ring. Stratus landed Stratusfaction to get the three count and get the victory. Stratus and her new protege Stark made their way up the ramp celebrating to end the segment.

Stratus has been demanding “Thank you Trish” but at Night of Champions she may want to thank Zoey.

Check back in with Diva Dirt for more NOC results.

The matches on the card are as follows:

For Diva Dirt’s predictions you can click here.

Enjoy.

Tam Nakano Wins Wonder of Stardom Title, Becomes Double Champ

Tam Nakano is now a double champion and holds the top two championships in STARDOM. Already the World of Stardom Champion, she put the title on the line when she faced Mina Shirakawa for the Wonder of Stardom Championship at Flashing Champions in a Winner Takes All match.

Nakano became the World of Stardom Champion just over a month ago at All Star Grand Queendom where she defeated Guilia. Shirakawa became the Wonder of Stardom Champion that night after dethroning an impressive nearly 500 day reign of Saya Kamitani. Now, Nakano holds both titles at the top of the promotion.

  • Nakano officially joins Mayu Iwatani as the only other wrestler in STARDOM history to hold both of the top titles at the same time.
  • MIRAI used her wish, challenging for the Wonder of Stardom Championship

Despite many titles changing hands just over a month ago at All Star Grand Queendom, more than just Nakano took home some new gold at this event.

Saki Kashima is the new High Speed Champion after winning a Three Way match that including now former champion AZM and also Fukigen Death. AZM held the gold for 458 days.

The Artist of Stardom Titles also changed hands as the BariBari Bombers (Guilia, Thekla, and Mai Sakurai) defeated REstart (KAIRI, Natsupoi, and Saori Anou). Mayu Iwatani, Hazuki, and Koguma step up as the next challengers.

Full results as follows from Flashing Champions

  • Momo Kohgo def. Saya Iida and Lady C
  • Rebel X Enemy (Maika Ozaki & Ram Kaichow) def. Syuri & Aya Sakura
  • Queen’s Quest (Utami Hayashishita, Saya Kamitani & Hina) def. Young OED (Starlight Kid, Ruaka & Rina)
STARS (Mayu Iwatani, Hazuki, Hanan & Koguma) def. Club Venus (Mariah May, Jessie, Waka Tsukiyama & Xena)
  • Maika, Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira def. 7Upp (Nanae Takahashi & Yuna Mizumori) & HANAKO
High Speed Championship: Saki Kashima def. AZM (c) and Fukigen Death
  • Goddesses of Stardom Championship: THE NEW ERAS (MIRAI & Ami Sourei) (c) def. Oedo Tai (Momo Watanabe & Natsuko Tora)
  • Artist of Stardom Championship: Bari Bari Bombers (Giulia, Thekla & Mai Sakurai) def. REstart (KAIRI, Saori Anou & Natsupoi) (c)
  • World of Stardom Championship & Wonder of Stardom Championship: Tam Nakano (c) def. Mina Shirakawa (c)

2023 Night Of Champions Preview & Predictions

Night of Champions will be taking place Saturday, May 27 from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At this event, there will be three women’s matches and the show kicks off at 1 PM ET.

Both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Titles are on the line, even though they are still on the wrong brands. Both matches haven’t been built up much so much like WrestleMania we are going to enjoy the matches for what they are.

As for Trish vs. Becky we have received a better storyline and it has a purpose.

The matches are –

Predictions –

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Natalya

SmackDown Women’s Title

NICK – This one seems quite obvious, plus with the least amount of build up it is obviously going to be Rhea winning. I still think the match will be solid but something also tells me that it’ll be the shortest match.

WINNER: Rhea Ripley

COLBY – Sigh … Look, Nattie is a great challenger for Ripley as they figure out a direction for her title reign. But could we get some actual storytelling back in the title pictures? Or is all of that being reserved for Becky and Trish? That’s no slight to them, but the women’s title pictures have been struggling this year. Ripley is just getting started, so I have no doubt that she will retain here in what could be just the start of their feud.

WINNER: Rhea Ripley

GARY – Ripley wins. It will be a solid match but there’s little more to say. Would love a swerve with Nattie winning by DQ or countout to continue this ‘feud’ into something more but I have zero expectations.

WINNER: Rhea Ripley

Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka

Raw Women’s Title

NICK – As someone who has campaigned and backed up Bianca to become the longest reigning champ of the modern era, we can move to the next phase now. She has established herself well enough that she cold hold a side feud without the title and still be a star. Plus I don’t want Asuka losing again so soon.

WINNER: Asuka

COLBY – I get the feeling that WWE didn’t know where Belair would go after WrestleMania, which makes me wonder even more why they didn’t book Asuka as a heel upon her Royal Rumble return. I was on board with Asuka winning the title at WrestleMania, but I’m having a hard time imagining a title change happening here. I’d argue they’re in a stickier situation with who should go over, and perhaps we get a DQ finish to set up a gimmick match. It’s not ideal, but I’m sticking with it.

WINNER: Bianca Belair via DQ

GARY – I’m not confident that Belair will drop the title in her first defense on Smackdown brand, I just don’t see it but I also don’t want to see Asuka lose again. I’m really torn on this one and feel it could go either way but I am going to go with Asuka winning the title here.

WINNER: Asuka

Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus

NICK – I am going with the common thought that this may be the first of a trilogy between these two. If Becky wins first it loses that momentum. So Trish.

WINNER: Trish Stratus

COLBY – I think the general feeling among fans is that this will not just be a one and done match. At least, that’s what I’m hoping. Their promos have been entertaining, and now we’ll see what they can bring in a high-profile singles match. Whether it’s by using dirty tactics or not, I think Stratus should walk away with the win here to set up a rematch at some point this summer.

WINNER: Trish Stratus

GARY – I suppose this is all dependent on how long Stratus is sticking around for. I believe Lynch will of course overall win this feud but I’m pulling for a Stratus victory at NOC to continue this feud for a little bit longer and hope she is sticking around a little.

WINNER: Trish Stratus

Deonna Purrazzo Retains At IMPACT Under Siege

IMPACT Under Siege featured three matches from the Knockouts division.

To kick off the night on the pre-show, The Coven battled the new Death Dollz in a non-title bout. Courtney Rush and Taylor Wilde started with a standard start as Wilde targeted her arm until tags were made. Jessicka and KiLynn King constantly tested their strength when Rush wasn’t getting double-teamed. In the end, Jessicka took King down so that Rush could lock Wilde in the Sharpshooter for the tap-out win.

Not long into the main card, Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly brawled all over the arena. Once they spilled into the ring, Kelly choked Masha with a chain, prompting security to intervene. Kelly stood tall with the chain.

In the third match of the main card, Trinity took on Gisele Shaw. Shaw tried to hide from Trinity in the early parts of the bout, but once she stayed in the ring, the action intensified. Trinity escaped a headlock and pulled out a backbreaker and the split-legged moonsault.

Shaw managed to get in a cheap shot behind the ref’s back, but then Trinity bounced back with a Code Red and applied Starstruck for the win.

Dani Luna made her first IMPACT appearance alongside Subculture in the men’s tag title match.

In the semi-main event, Deonna Purrazzo and Jordynne Grace tore the house down in what may have been Grace’s last title shot for some time. Grace made it known from the start that she was here for a fight. Her strength was on full display, but that only encouraged “The Virtuosa” to match her.

Purrazzo hit a piledriver and the Queen’s Gambit, but Grace still kicked out. Then “The Juggernaut” connected with a powerbomb and Jackhammer in response. The final act saw them neck and neck with double maneuvers until Purrazzo landed Queen’s Gambit from the second rope to retain.

Per the stipulation, Grace can no longer challenge for the title while Purrazzo reigns. That may not be an issue, however, as Fightful Select broke the news that Grace is now a free agent. Grace told them that she is taking time off from wrestling to pursue outside projects and stated, “I’ll be back somewhere at some point.” It was also noted that she has interest from higher-ups in other companies.

Shotzi & Rodriguez Gain Momentum Heading Into Fatal Four Way Tag Title Match

Raquel Rodriguez is getting acclimated to her new tag partner in Shotzi.

Since having to vacate the tag titles due to Liv Morgan’s injury, Rodriguez had to find a new tag team parneter. She will get a chance to win the tag team belts back with Shotzi on this coming Monday’s Raw. It will be a Fatal Four way that also includea Damage CTRL, Sonya Deville & Cheslea Green, and Shayna Baszler & Ronda Rousey.

Before they get to Monday however, Rodriguez and Shotzi had to take on Damage CTRL’s Bayley and IYO SKY. The final moments of the match had Bayley go for a sunset flip on Rodriguez but couldn’t get her over. SKY, who was on the top rope, backdropped on Shotzi. However Rodriguez was able to pin Bayley picking up the win.

As Night of Champions is set for tomorrow, the Raw Women’s Champion addressed her opponent Asuka. Belair stated the Asuka she knew at WrestleMania she respected. But this Asuka? She does not. She was not happy about Asuka interrupting her home championship celebration a few weeks ago. Asuka’s music would hit and she would emerge from behind Belair in the ring

Asuka locked in an arm bar and wouldn’t release until officials had to come out and break it up. The women broke free and Belair went for the KOD but Asuka landed on the officials. She quickly rolled out of the ring and laughed as she exited up the ramp.

Diva Dirt will have a Night of Champions Discussion Post ready to go at 1 PM ET on Saturday.

Latest On Liv Morgan And Jamie Hayter Injuries

0

Injuries are unfortunately a heavy topic right ow but there has been some updates on both former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Liv Morgan and AEW’s Women World Champion Jamie Hayter. The reports are coming from Fightful Select.

First, Morgan suffered a shoulder injury in the tag team championship bout against Damage CTRL a few weeks ago on SmackDown. Dakota Kai was injured in that same match and we know she will be out for at least nine months from a torn ACL which she has had surgery on. As for Morgan, it is being reported she will “at least be sidelined through the summer.” So it is unclear if she is required to have surgery but is intended to be out for several months.

Now as far as Hayter, she is legit hurt, but will still be competing this Sunday at Double or Nothing. She will be defending her championship against Toni Storm. Hayter has been battling her injuries for the better part of a month now and was recently pulled from a six woman tag match on Dynamite.

Diva Dirt will provide any further updates on those who are out with injury.

Tegan Nox And Nikki Cross Pick Up Wins On Main Event

This week’s episode of Main Event once again had two women’s matches featured. We got to see Tegan Nox take on Dana Brooke while Nikki Cross stepped into the ring with Emma.

Brooke thought she had the win in her match after driving Nox face first into the match but Nox kicked out. Trying to put her away, Brooke lifted up her opponent but Nox fought out of it and drove Brooke into the middle ropes. Nox then went for the pin and with her feet on the middle ropes she stole a victory.

The second match had Cross taking on Emma. Emma had a lot of offense but in the end Cross threw her into the ringpost. This allowed Cross to set up and deliver the neckbreaker and get the three count.

In another supplemental show of NXT Level Up which will air this week after SmackDown at 10PM on Peacock we will get a tag team match. Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz will be taking on Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson.

      • Skye Blue def. Miranda Alize.
      • Lexy Nair interviewed Athena backstage to ask Athena what was it like to taste her own medicine. Athena ran down on Nair before saying that she would see Kiera Hogan next week in an ROH Women’s Title Match.
      • Diamante def. Trish Adora

Courtney Rush Arrives; Death Dollz Will Challenge The Coven At Under Siege

This week’s IMPACT featured a pair of squash matches.

In the first bout, Taylor Wilde quickly put Jessicka away with her signature neckbreaker. The Coven then ambushed Jessicka before Rosemary‘s hour glass ran empty. At that point, Courtney Rush came down to the ring and cleared out The Coven.

Backstage, Jessicka was excited and confused. Rush explained that Rosemary occupied her body for seven years, and while she’s not sure why Courtney is here now, she’s excited to be part of The Death Dollz.

As a result, the new Death Dollz will challenge The Coven on the Under Siege pre-show.

In the other squash match, Jordynne Grace quickly put away Alisha Edwards with the Grace Driver as the former champ prepares for her “last chance” world title match on Friday.

We also saw a vignette from Trinity as she warms up for her first pay-per-view match against Gisele Shaw.

Additionally, Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich brawled backstage until Masha choked Kelly out with a production cord.

Below is the updated lineup for Under Siege:

  • (Pre-Show): The Coven (c) vs. The Death Dollz

Taya Valkyrie Builds Momentum With Dynamite Win Over Lady Frost

The May 24 episode of AEW Dynamite featured Taya Valkyrie taking on the debuting Lady Frost.

The bout aired just minutes into the second hour and was fast-paced to start as Taya went for pinfall attempts early on. Frost then tried for some offense but kept getting cut off by explosive counters by Valkyrie.

After the break, Frost spun off the top rope only to get hit by a spear once she got to her feet. They broke down into trading forearm shots until Taya hit a sit-out powerbomb for a nearfall. In the end, Valkyrie connected with her signature Road to Valhalla slam to secure the win while Jade Cargill and company watched from the stage.

On Friday’s episode of Rampage, Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida will join forces again to take on Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir.

Then on Sunday, AEW will present their annual Double or Nothing pay-per-view as both women’s titles will be on the line:

  • AEW Women’s World Championship: Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Toni Storm
  • AEW TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie

Alicia Fox, real name Victoria Crawford, continues to tease an in-ring return. This time she confirms she’s not done.

In an interview with Melina, MuscleManMalcolm got a surprise as Crawford entered the conversation.

Fox revealed that she is planning on “knocking off some ring dust” with Booker T, but then she’s looking to knock on some forbidden doors.

Alicia Fox: Where should we go do this forbidden door stuff? We have some stuff we haven’t finished. Are you working, wrestling?

Melina: I don’t want to [wrestle] because it seems like everybody’s just like, ‘Here, do a match.’ It means nothing. If we’re going to do something, let’s tell a story. Let’s make it amazing.

Alicia Fox: We’re out of the box. We’re out. I was like, ‘well, I got some things to take care of. This is what I’m going to do; I’m going to go knock some ring dust off with Booker —

Melina: Oh my God! Really? I thought you were done!?

Alicia Fox: I never said that. The machine said that. Girl, this appearance has been eye-opening. I didn’t put my face on that alumni section. I never said that. My bags are still packed. I’m pissed about it. So this is what I’m thinking, so I’m talking to Booker and Sharmell, and then I’ll go do that. Then, we’ll go knock on Trin’s house and then Sasha’s house…

Melina: If this is the plan, I am 100% for that, and then I’ll end my career on that.

Alicia Fox: That’s fine, me too.

NXT Women’s Title Match Set For Battleground

0

After a tournament with eight strong contenders, we are down to two women with one who will become the new NXT Women’s Champion.

For those that may have missed the May 23 go-home episode of NXT, two semi-final matches took place. First, to kick off the show we had Cora Jade taking on Lyra Valkyria. Both women familiar with one another where Jade came out as the victor in their last encounter.

This time however, Valkyria came out with the shocking victory. The final moments of the match had Jade going for a back elbow on the middle ropes but Valkyria dodged the attempt. She followed it up with a spinning kick to get the pin.

Post-match, an enraged Jade wanted to make sure that Valkyria wouldn’t be heading into Sunday’s event at 100 percent. She took out the knee of Valkyria and followed it up with a kendo stick shot.

The second semi-finals match was the main event as Tiffany Stratton faced a former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. For any fans who expected simply a Jade vs. Perez finals has certainly been mistaken. Stratton was victorious against Perez.

The final moments had Perez try to put Stratton away with Pop Rox but Stratton countered by slamming her into the top rope. Stratton hit the BME to get the pin to face Valkyria in the finals.

Post-match, Valkyria and Stratton were face to face where the belt was displayed before Perez was all of sudden being attacked by the mysterious figure on the ramp before Valkyria came over to help.

This same attacker has been targeting the women’s division and has attacked the likes of Nikkita Lyons, Wendy Choo, Sol Ruca, and Dani Palmer (at a live event).

Elsewhere on this week’s show, things aren’t over between former Toxic Attraction members Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. A confrontation between the two with Jayne in the crowd and Dolin in the ring has led to a match next week. The two will face off in a weaponized steel cage match.

Battleground will be taking place this Sunday with the NXT Women’s Title on the line. Check in Sunday to talk about the show live.
