SmackDown Spoilers: July 18, 2008

Looks like this week’s SmackDown is going to be quite an event! In the final show before the Bash, find out what our Divas are up to below:

– The whole episode centered around Edge and Vickie’s wedding reception, they were married earlier in the day.

– Vickie came out to “throw the bouquet” with all the Divas in the ring. Michelle attacked Natalya during this segment, while Cherry caught the bouquet. As a result, Cherry will have a match with Vickie Guerrero later in the night!

– Natalya def. Cherry with the Sharpshooter. After the match, Vickie came out for her match with Cherry and simply covered her to get the win as Cherry was laid out from her match with Natalya.

– In the closing segment of the show, “The Cutting Edge”, Triple H entered the ring with a wedding gift. He showed footage of Edge flirting with the wedding planner, Alicia Fox.

Raw Redux – July 14, 2008

13

This week on Raw: Katie Lea got another shot at Mickie James, Beth Phoenix returned to Raw in sensationalistic fashion and Kelly Kelly and Layla got some airtime too!

Thoughts & Reactions
The verdict is in… I am pleased to report I absolutely loved Raw last night! Last week in Redux, I wrote:

Raw’s women’s division is a holding pattern right now, I do think Creative will finally turn their attention to the Divas after the post-Draft honeymoon period is over. Right now they’re working so diligently on making the rest of the product “must see”, the Divas aren’t their top priority.

Well it seems like the honeymoon is over and Creative have finally turned their attention to Raw. And boy, have they! Not only did they finally step up their game with the women’s division but they went one further – they booked the Divas so strongly, making them really part of the Raw mythos. Having them integrate with the Superstars gives a real sense of importance to our beloved Divas and shows that they too can be a pivotal part of Raw rather than just throwing a couple of Divas out there to fill the ‘Diva match quota’ for the week. From top to bottom, I thought this week’s Raw was fantastic and it’s really made the show ‘must watch’ television again. Since the Draft, all the focus has been on the rest of the show that the Divas were only used to fill a quota, that was my only grievance with Raw. However this week, the whole show was solid.

The big, big story coming out of Raw was the fantastic re-introduction of the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix! Beth really was dealt a blow when Melina was injured as it meant WWE had to throw away all their plans for this feud and resulted in Beth not appearing on Raw in a month. After Melina was injured, I was even left wondering just how WWE could bring Beth back at this point; it seemed the only option was to have her challenge Mickie and that’s something I don’t think any of us want to see again anytime soon. Instead, last night, WWE found a fun, interesting and truly creative way to bring back Beth Phoenix and it worked a treat! If you didn’t jump out of your chair or scream out loud when Beth’s music hit last night on Raw, you got issues! The crowd was not at all expecting Beth to rock up and damn, did she receive a hell of a pop or what?! Just when you thought there was no one left to beat Santino, out comes a Diva and not just any Diva at that! I don’t know where they’re going with this but it was interesting while it lasted. It was something new and interesting and you could tell the crowd was so into it, because it was so fresh to the current WWE product. Of course, we’ve seen Chyna come and go but in this day and age, this was something new and I think that’s why we all got so into it. Great job by WWE!

It will be interesting to see where this goes; I don’t think Beth will now become a face as some have suggested. I just don’t think Diva-wise, she could be a face but I would love to see her continue to work with Santino, maybe make this into a short feud while the Mickie-Katie programme is going on or until Candice is ready to come back. Beth is in a unique position, we loved seeing her against Santino last night but we’re designed to hate her when she’s wrestling Candice and Mickie; this could be cool. I think in this programme with Santino (if they follow through) she could be a face but when it comes to the Divas, she just has to be a heel! Hopefully they have her continue to work with Santino, it could be fun – maybe have him demand a rematch next week! This will keep Beth booked up until she’s ready to engage in a programme with another Diva. Even if it was a one off, it was fantastic.

In the opening contest of Raw, we had a rematch from Night of Champions with Mickie vs Katie. I thought this match was a lot better than their match at the pay per view, i got into it and I really wanted to see Katie pick up the win. If Katie and Paul are meant to be heels, wouldn’t it be logical to have Paul try to interfere? Instead, we had a post-match assault which worked well. I like that they are keeping the feud between Mickie and Katie going, even if we have had a two week gap (some things never change)! But yeah, this was great and then the interaction during the Intercontinental Championship match only set this feud up further, I definitely see them continuing to feud for a while with another title match on the cards! I’m suspecting a mixed tag match next week, as I wrote before – having the Divas get involved in storylines with the Superstars really gives them a sense of importance on the show. I’m all for it!

After we got Katie vs Mickie and Beth beating Santino, we got a shot of Kelly freakin’ Kelly! My first thought was “Oh my god, more Divas? This is too good to be true!” and it was unfortunately. Seems like they teased another Divas match simply as a ploy to get Kelly some screentime and further push that Raw has a new, improved flavour with 100% unpredictability. I would have loved another Divas match though! Well I guess what we got later was just as good… Layla! The backstage segment with Jamie Noble and Layla was nicely done, I hope they don’t pair them up though but at least it got Layla on TV!

Overall, I was very pleased with all the appearances of the Divas that we got! I really hope they keep this momentum going into next week, don’t let us down now!

From Psycho to Psych

1

For anyone who knows me they know two of my greatest loves: Divas and TV shows! This TV junkie watches nearly everything and anything, unfortunately USA Network’s hit series Psych isn’t one of them. But I will be watching one particular episode of it’s upcoming third season… Why? Because our very own Women’s Champion, Mickie James will be making a guest appearance this season! i don’t know about you, but given Mickie’s psycho portrayal in 2006, I’d say M to tha J would be a pretty good fit for this dramedy! I mean come on, “dramedy” could be psycho Mickie’s middle name!

Mickie’s guest appearance was made possible since both Monday Night Raw and Psych air on USA, seems like Bonnie Hammer is trying to cross-promote her top rated shows! Hey Bonnie, how about you get the Divas on The Starter Wife? I think the world might just explode if we got Mickie and Grace from Will & Grace on the same screen!

Pretty cool, right? It’s unknown when Mickie’s episode will air but Psych returns for a 16 episode third season from July 18th on USA.

Maryse’s Album Cover Shoot

6

WWE’s resident French-Canadian, Maryse has a new shoot at WWE.com! I have to say, girl looks really good in new shoot “True Blue!” But I can’t help but feel that the spread looks somewhat look an ‘album cover shoot’, perhaps a mix of Paris Hilton’s doomed album and a Christina Aguilera cover? Maryse’s make up looks really au naturale and reminds me somewhat of Christina’s “Stripped” phase, most noticeably the video for “Beautiful.”

Maryse looks pretty darn hot, I think she leaves a lil somethin’ to the imagination in this shoot and that’s always a good thing, girls! What do you think? Vote below!

Spotted: Stacy Looking Summery

2

Here’s former WWE Diva, Stacy Keibler looking all breezy for the summer! I somewhat like the casual look Stacy went for, she looks really good with her hair tied back. Who’d have thought brown and pink could go together? The shoes, however, clash like woah. Oh with all the fashion analysis, I forgot to mention that these pictures were taken last night when the Keib was seen at a party for MLB’s All Star Week.

Nerdy fanboys – inhalers at the ready! Stacy will be hitting up Comic Con later this week to promote her new ABC Family series (that’s right folks, Stacy’s got a starring role!), Samurai Girl which will premiere in September.

Exclusive: Dishin’ Dirt with Jemma Palmer

7

Meet Jemma Palmer, the female wrestler who has become a household name in the UK as Inferno from the hit Sky One reboot of “Gladiators.” Diva Dirt first introduced you to Jemma in April when we reported that she had been unveiled as one of the new breed of Gladiators – Jemma is an accomplished wrestler, with a purple belt in submission wrestling and even received a tryout from WWE in November 2005. Just a couple of weeks ago, we posted this scorching photoshoot of Inferno from Loaded Magazine. Well now we bring to you the woman herself! Diva Dirt had the opportunity to dish some dirt with Jemma last week on her pro wrestling career and WWE dreams:

Now us Brits know you as Inferno from Gladiators, but you are in fact a trained wrestler. How did you get into wrestling and can you give us some insight into your wrestling career?
I was always into wrestling as a child and grew up watching HHH, Chyna and Shawn Michaels. I did submission wrestling as this was about the closest thing I could do to pro wrestling as well as trampolining for the arial moves, as there wasn’t anywhere else to train. I then was asked to do some modelling work at a local wrestling show and after that did valleting for FWA and Doug Williams, who was on TNA the other day, before getting a scholarship in the USA where I am still in training.

Here at Diva Dirt, we reported that you had a tryout with WWE in 2005 in Manchester. How was the experience?
The experience was great, I got to meet Kurt Angle, Shelton Benjamin, Ricky Steamboat and Finlay. At the time I didn’t have any pro wrestling training under my belt, I got to show them I was willing to take bumps and had a passion for the business and they said liked my look and promo skills too. Overall it was very positive and encouraged me to get into the industry.

YouTube Classics: Michelle McCool vs. Melina

6

Welcome to the YouTube Classics! This week, with the first match for the SmackDown Divas Title coming this Sunday, our theme is “The All-American Girl”, matches featuring Michelle McCool. We’ve said time and time again how far Michelle has progressed in the ring, and we’ll show you throughout the week, starting from the humble beginnings and ending with her most recent progressions. Today, we have Michelle McCool vs. Melina from the June 30th, 2005 SmackDown. This was Melina’s first WWE match, and Michelle was her first real feud. This match showcases Michelle’s greenness, if you will, but I think it serves to show the difference between then and now. It’s not a 5-star match by any means, but I think it’s quite entertaining nevertheless!

Daily Lolz: Inner Workings of an Ashley Mark

Melanie received this e-mail in her inbox this morning which she thought would be fun to share with all! Seems like some fans are taking to the sauce after their messiah, Ashley was released last week:

The Round-Up: July 07 – July 13, 2008

theroundup.jpg

Get this week’s Diva news rounded up… with commentary! This week we discuss Ashley, the new Knockout Champion, the Bash and more!

Ashley going, going, gone
WWE officially announced the release of Ashley Massaro this week on WWE.com. Ashley initially wrote on her MySpace last week that she had asked for her release due to her daughter being severely ill. The “dirty diva” hadn’t been seen on WWE television since May, when the infamous escort scandal broke.

Doug: I was a little taken back by this at first. This is definitely news you don’t expect to hear in the WWE. Although I’m not Ashley’s biggest fan, I do wish her daughter well.
Erin: I have to be honest.. I thought the MySpace post was fake. It seemed too crazy to be true. I guess part of me wanted it to not be true, since the whole “sick daughter” thing seemed so awful. I didn’t want it to be true, for her sake. But, now that it’s true, I can’t help but feel kind of relieved. She was never my favorite Diva, and as terrible as her situation is and as much as I hope that everything turns out okay for her, she was definitely taking up space that a more talented Diva could use.
Melanie: Whatever the weather, I’m glad she’s gone and it was a cathartic feeling seeing WWE wish her well in her future endeavors. Someone has commented just today to let us know that Ash changed the part about a ‘sick daughter’ in her MySpace blog to ‘sick relative’, if that’s the case wow Ashley, you stoop to new lows. I thought it was somewhat heroic when she first made the announcement, I truly wished her the best but what does it say when the girl is so cowardly that she has to go back and change it? Have some conviction in what you’re writing and what you’re doing. If I was writing that about my son, I’d put all my energy into what I was doing and truly stand by my words, Ashley on the other hand – it says it all really. There are rumours that this could be a cover-up and that Ash simply wanted to leave before she was fired because there was a strong chance of her being released on WWE’s terms. Coward.

More after the cut:

Jazz Hands!!!

2

Katie Lea is wearing something not red – hallelujah! I kid.. But it’s nice to see her change up her look a bit, even if that means sporting a frightening-looking manicure. In this photoshoot, aptly titled “Black & Blue”, Katie’s still got her voodoo poses going on, but I can’t say I *hate* them. They may look strange, yes, but I’d honestly take the weird hand poses over the puckering and pouting that’s become a Diva requisite these days. I’m not in love with the shoot, but with any luck, Katie will get better at the posing. Bring some of the sass you have on TV to your shoots, Katie! I’m eagerly waiting for the day you stop giving me the death glare..

Diva Dirt’s TNA Victory Road Tip Sheet

0

Tonight on pay per view, the TNA Knockout Championship will be on the line in a rematch from Thursday night’s Impact. Awesome Kong will get a chance to regain the gold from new champion, Taylor Wilde. Meanwhile, Gail Kim will face off against the Beautiful People’s Angelina Love. Check out our tip sheet below:

TNA Knockout Championship: Taylor Wilde vs Awesome Kong
Doug: Taylor Wilde, Kong has had the belt long enough, and it’s time for more Knockouts to get the chance at it.
Erin: Taylor *just* won the title, so I don’t see her dropping it here. Kong will probably beat the crap out of her, but she’ll narrowly escape with the title, keeping in tact her reign and underdog role. It would be stupid for TNA to have her drop the title right now, since that would defeat the purpose of the feud – for David to outsmart Goliath. It’s not as fun when David’s chasing Goliath, is it?
Melanie: I’m with the others here, Taylor has to win here. It would be stupid to have her drop the title just “three days” *cough* after winning it. To be honest, the whole Kong challenge storyline has sucked and I think it’s damaged Kong’s character. It seems like something you’d pull if you have no other storyline ideas for a character; I truly think TNA is totally playing this by ear and doesn’t have a vision for where the storyline will go. Taylor should win, but I don’t see her getting over as champion, not smart to put the title on her so soon – just ask Gail Kim. I think this could be a move to put the title on someone who is “beatable”, like you could see Taylor drop the title to another Knockout whereas it would be less realistic to have Kong drop the title without hurting her character. Taylor could be a transitional champ, I would love to see Gail get another reign or ODB. The problem is, TNA has so few heels at the moment other than Kong. I don’t realistically see either of the Beautiful People winning the title. Anyhoo that’s a story for another day, Taylor gets the win somehow.

Gail Kim vs Angelina Love
Doug: Angelina Love, she hasn’t won at a PPV yet, and I somehow see her pulling out the victory.
Erin: With ODB and Velvet Sky probably factoring in, it’s tough to say who’ll win.. I’m leaning towards Gail, since she’s the better wrestler, but Velvet and Angel are a better team, so they’ll probably find a way to outsmart Gail and “paperbag” both her and ODB. I’m going with the blondes here.
Melanie: I think this could be a really good match first of all and could raise Angelina to that next level. I think she has what it takes to be a top Knockout (I was so going to write top Diva), so I am pleased they chose Angelina over Velvet for this pay per view match. Ang is the better worker of the two and has more chance of getting over in future. Gail is a top babyface and usually wins all her matches, I’d like to see her actually put over Angelina in this match though. Gail hasn’t got anything to lose by doing so, because she’s been built up so strong as the Trish-esque figure of this division. Angelina for the win.

TNA Impact Redux For 7/10/07

Thursday night’s Impact show was an overall success for the Knockouts (*surprise, surprise*). For the most part, each lady involved had a formidable appearance. The Knockouts Salinas, Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, ODB, Gail Kim, Karen Angle, Taylor Wilde, Roxxi, Awesome Kong & Raisha Saeed were all featured in some way, shape, or form.

Thoughts & Reactions:
Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong (Title Match):
The first Knockouts match was the $25,000 and TNA Knockouts title match between Taylor Wilde and Awesome Kong. Taylor got some good offense but was pretty boring overall. I just mean, that her only real way to get Kong down was to keep dropkicking her. She needs some better strategy in my opinion. During the contest, Roxxi came down to cheer on “the newbie”. Near the end of the contest, Kong hit a flawless “Implant Buster”, which Taylor somehow kicked out of. The end of the match came when Taylor made a surprise roll-up pin on Kong for the win, the $25,000, and the TNA Knockouts Championship. Will Taylor be able to retain the title on tonights PPV “Victory Road”? We’ll just have to wait and see. My bet says she will.

Karen Angles Her Way Onto Yahoo!

4

Karen Angle has made it onto Yahoo!’s most searched today, marking the first time a TNA star has been able to achieve such a feat! Karen now joins the likes of Michelle McCool and Torrie Wilson who have also been some of the most searched women of wrestling in the past year!

What do you think has sparked the new wave of interest in the Knockout?

Who Should Challenge Mickie?

SmackDown’s women’s division is heating up, in fact they’ve usurped the pay per view position usually held by Raw’s Women’s Championship as at the Great American Bash, Michelle McCool and Natalya will do battle for the all new Divas Championship. Meanwhile over on Raw, things seem to have sizzled out since Night of Champions, when Women’s Champ Mickie James defeated Katie Lea. Since then we’ve seen little to no storyline evolution for Raw’s women’s division, in fact it seems to be the weakest link on Raw of late.

It seems to me that Mickie needs a new challenger for her gold, so which Diva should go after it? Should Katie get a rematch and allow their feud to continue? Beth Phoenix has been away for a while, maybe she should return as a monster heel and renew her feud with Mickie? Jillian has yet to get a proper title shot, should it be her? Could Layla inject some new blood into the title scene by challenging Mickie? Or could we get a face on face encounter with Kelly trying to see how good she is in the ring, trying to challenge Mickie for her gold?

Sable and Chyna Get Personal

5

The great thing about writing a blog is that things don’t always have to be current! Earlier this week, I came across this footage which I have never seen before – legendary WWE Divas, Sable and Chyna nearly came to blows on Wayne Gretzky’s talk show in 1999. The footage shocked me for certain, I’ve never seen this before and it just so happens that I was a big fan of both at the time and still to this day, respect their contributions to the WWE.

Sable made some allusions to Chyna building her unique physique through steroid abuse, after seemingly taking offence to Chyna burying the women’s division and Women’s Championship. And poor Debra stuck in the middle! It’s somewhat ironic, because a decade later, all three of these Divas have had their fair share of controversy but this was at the peak of their fame and popularity. Watch below:

Mickie Moose Blogs on Injury

0

Mickie “Moose” Knuckles (or Mickie Moose as I so affectionately like to call her) has written a blog giving fans an update on her horrific leg injury last weekend. Read below and we’d just like to send our best wishes out to the Knockout once again:

I have recieved so many emails and myspace messages that I wanted to get on here and tell you all how I am currently doing.

First off, I want to thank each and every one of you that have sent me letters and emails of prayers and “Get Well” wishes. The hospital room was decorated in lovely flowers that kept my spirits high during this ordeal. In regards to the accident, please respect my wishes of not posting video footage of the injury on the internet. I do not wish for it to be shown. This is my personal request and I hope you respect it. Nothing good can come from the footage being posted and I would like to move past this and be able to focus on my recovery.

For those of you worrying about my TNA deal, please rest assured that I will be on TNA again once I am healed.

Now onto the injury update….

I am home already for one. I had surgery the morning after the accident and the doctors said that it was a clean break. They placed a rod in my right femer and told me that since my leg muscles were in such good shape, and since I was so strong, that they expect the recovery time to be faster than a normal person’s. I have no plans on coming back to wrestling before I recieve a 100% clearance from the doctors. Ian and I have talked about this and even though I would love nothing more than to be in the ring again, Ian thinks that it would be best to take as much time off as needed to heal fully. So trust me, Ian and Patti would not let me come back to wrestling before I am fully healed. I am already moving around on crutches and the doctors have given me instructions so that I can come back to wrestling. They said that after I am healed, I will be 100% healthy. I still plan on attending shows to show my support for the IWA family.

Thank you again for your support and love and remember that I am being babied like crazy between Ian, Patti, John Calvin and the IWA family! So no worries!!!!

Thank you,
Mickie Knuckles

SmackDown Redux – July 11, 2008

SmackDown Redux has moved to Fridays! I have always intended to have Redux on Fridays but realised WWE.com doesn’t post it’s digitals after the show airs in America meaning I couldn’t post till Saturday. Anyhoo, I’ve decided to make my own screen shots! The new, improved Redux will mean you Americans can watch the matches before they air in the States too… good times, right?

This week on SmackDown: The road to the Great American Bash is officially underway! Divas Championship contenders, Michelle McCool and Natalya teamed up with Cherry and Maryse respectively in a Divas tag match.

Thoughts & Reactions
It’s been a week for tag team matches on both Raw and SmackDown, but I’m pleased to report my experience was more favourable for Friday night’s tag team match. Even though I enjoyed this match I do have one epic complaint – this match was shorter than a freakin’ commercial! Just as we were getting into it, the match was over. Nonetheless, great work from all Divas involved, though background talent – Maryse and Cherry were both impressive in the ring. Maryse particularly showed some ring presence and agility in the ring with her cartwheel type thing.

All in all, this match really left me wanting more, it could have lasted a little while longer because the work was pretty darn good. Who’d have thought I’d be excited to see Maryse and Cherry in the ring? I felt the finish of the match was a little sloppy compared to the rest of the short match; Cherry tapped out far too quickly, it didn’t really sell the Sharpshooter. There was some awkwardness with Natalya jumping out of the ring and then jumping back in and attacking Michelle, but in all, I felt this was done really well and set up their Bash match nicely. Taking the action to the outside was a nice touch, it added some physicality and intensity, showing how much Natalya wanted the title – and how much she hates Michelle. Nice work from all the Divas, I wish it was longer!

For the second week in a row we got a “coming soon” promo for Maria, I really like that they’re building this up rather than throwing her straight into the mix. I think Maria’s move to SmackDown is a big deal and I think pushing her arrival sets her up as a top name, which I think she will be in SmackDown’s women’s division. I wrote last week that I had hoped they’d keep the “coming soon” promos coming for a little while to build up anticipation and thankfully, WWE is doing so. Perhaps having her debut after the Great American Bash would be a wise move because I would hate for her to detract away from the Divas Championship match-up. I am hoping that Michelle-Natalya will continue to feud after the Bash with a rematch, so while they’re tying up their storyline I would love to see Maria feud with Victoria. Hopefully we’ll see that happen, Victoria deserves some screen time and I think she could do a great job putting over Maria.

A fine night for the SmackDown Divas if a little short!

Divas Championship Confirmed for Bash

In an international airing of SmackDown, WWE confirmed that the Divas Championship will be decided at the Great American Bash between Michelle McCool and Natalya. Bring it on!!!

Taylor’s Knockout Championship Win

9

Well despite this being taped three weeks ago, the footage has finally aired and I guess we officially have a new TNA Knockout Champion – Taylor. The rookie Knockout beat Awesome Kong in the $25,000 challenge to win both the money and the belt! Taylor’s three day *coughTHREEWEEKcough* title reign could come to an end this Sunday when Kong will get a rematch at the Victory Road pay per view! Check out a recap below:

Cherry Looks… Pretty Much the Same

9

As you know by now, we’ll never confuse Cherry for Carrie Bradshaw, style-wise. Her usual tights-and-polka dots combo isn’t going to wow any wrestling fashionistas. So when that’s all she wears for photoshoots, you can pretty much guarantee we’re not going to dig it. Nevertheless, I’ll always love her unique image, claw bangs and all. Maybe it’s because I’m into vintage-y things, and Cherry is certainly straight out of a Johnny Rocket’s er something.

This “Save Room” photoshoot is more of the same, so there’s not much to say. Though, can I say that it’s really, REALLY weird to make dessert references with a Diva? (“Save Room” for dessert?) I don’t know.. It just seems overtly skeezy.

Terri Runnels Comeback Tour Rolls On

6

She sure is on a roll! Terri Runnels‘ press tour continues today, with an interview with the Daytona News Journal. This time Terri offers her insight into the current product and the other Divas, if there’s one thing the former “horny little she-devil” doesn’t do, is mince her words:

Question: What do you think of women’s wrestling (WWE and TNA Wrestling) today? Do you watch it?

Answer: “Yes, I watch it. The women are beautiful and talented. I think it’s tough to find a female that can do everything. There are too many (women) in WWE. I think they need to pull back and go to three to four women wrestling.”

Honestly, being a non-wrestler, Terri can hardly critique WWE for having too many women. For the first time in a long, long time the current women’s division is filled with Divas who can work and do work, on a regular basis. Three to four women wrestling? Boring.

Question: Ryan Shamrock?

Answer: “(Like) dealing with my child.

Question: Debra?

Answer: “The way she came out and trashed (Stone Cold) Steve (Austin) — she aired a little bit too much dirty laundry for my tastes.”

Question: Trish Stratus?

Answer: “Came in as a total newbie that I had no respect for because of her attitude and totally did a 180. I have so much respect for her.

Question: Stacy Keibler?

Answer: “(When Stacy first started), she was talking on the phone. I said, ‘Go outside. You don’t do that here.’ She learned fast.”

First time I’ve heard of Trish having attitude problems! As for Stacy, interesting to say the least.

Bikinis at Dawn

7

Seems like WWE got their money’s worth in photoshoots before Melina was sent down with an injury last month! From the same hotel room that brought us the very sexy and classy “Morning Light” and the even sexier and even classier “Breaking Light” comes “Sunset Girl.” As semantic fields go, WWE.com has pretty worn out this one, if you ask me!

Nonetheless, Erin’s DFF (that’s “Diva Friend Forever”) is looking as gorgeous and natural as her previous shoots – but I don’t like the juxtaposition of the bright bikini with the drab surroundings. This bikini isn’t working for me at all. What do you think? Check out the pictures and vote below!

Ashleygate Reloaded: The Review

9

Following the “success” of Ashleygate earlier this year, Ashley Massaro is back in a summer blockbuster of epic proportions – Ashleygate Reloaded. She’s only gone and got herself fired! Yes, news broke last week that Ashley had requested her WWE release after dropping another bombshell, that she has a 7 year old daughter. Ashley will no doubt go down in history as one of the most controversial Divas in history, if not the most controversial. Yesterday, WWE officially granted the self-proclaimed Dirty Diva her release putting an end to her three year WWE stint. Today, we look back at Ashley and all the hijinks she has provided in her three year career.

As I wrote above, Ashley has to be a top candidate for “most controversial Diva”, there has been no Diva in history if you ask me, that has divided fans more so than Ashley. Her fans have fought tooth and nail in her defence over the past three years, I think it’s fair to say that some of her fanbase borders psychotically obsessed… well I guess you’d have to be if you are deluded enough to believe Ashley can wrestle. Meanwhile, Ashley’s fans were outnumbered nearly 10-to-1 when it came to critics; Ashley has provided countless memories that will have us scoffing for years to come.

Despite the fans’ obvious dislike for Ashley, WWE managed to push her to the moon and back with two WrestleMania matches in as many years, a cover of Playboy and countless media opportunities such as appearing on Survivor, in a Timbaland music video and Extreme Makeover. She was even rumoured to be in line for a Women’s Championship shot at one point.

Perhaps Ashley will be best remembered for her unique style of “wrestling.” Ashley botched at least a handful of moves in every match she wrestled in while miraculously managing to injure herself countless times during her career, despite the fact she wrestled once in a blue moon.

Ashley’s stunts and antics outside the ring will also be remembered. Perhaps giving her phone number out live on Raw during the 2005 Diva Search was a precursor to the antics we’d later see from the Diva? Aside from all the injuries, Ashley was implicated in an escort service scandal earlier this year as well as dropping the bombshell that she has a daughter.

It truly is the end of an era. While the circumstances regarding her release are unfortunate – I truly, from the bottom of my heart, wish her daughter well – this blogger cannot help but feel some vindication that Ashley is finally gone. This post is bound to draw some ire as with past blogs on Ashley here at Diva Dirt, these posts tend to bring out the “Ashley crazies.” But truth is, I couldn’t care less… I feel like I’ve graduated from high school and no longer need to hold back all the things I’ve wanted to say to the teachers I hated! Good riddance and may Ashley never darken a WWE ring again.

Well, How Do You Like That?

Looks like the incoherent mess that was Ashley Massaro‘s MySpace confession was all too real: WWE.com is reporting that Ashley has indeed been released by the company:

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Ashley Massaro as of July 09, 2008. WWE wishes Ashley the best in all future endeavors.

Due to the apparent circumstances behind her release, I won’t make any crude speculations or snide remarks. In all honesty, this seems to have taken place under unfortunate circumstances, and I truly wish her all the best. She may not have been my cup of tea, Diva-wise, but that doesn’t mean I wish her any ill will, and I certainly did not want that heartbreaking matter with her child to be true.

Oh, and to lighten things up, Sheldon Mopes/Smoochy the Rhino (*cough* reference in the blog title *cough*) is here to cheer you up if you need some consoling.

Women’s Champ “M to tha J”, Mickie James appeared on Chilean television during Raw’s visit over to Chile and Mexico last weekend. While I haven’t watched the whole video, Mickie seemed really cute and likeable and looked gorgeous too!
