Lynch And Stratus Sign NOC Contract; Shotzi Becomes Rodriguez’s Tag Partner

Night of Champions biggest women’s bout has been signed on the dotted line. On the May 22 Raw go-home episode, Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus had a contract signing. Stratus made note that this is her first ever and vowed it would be Lynch’s last.

Lynch quickly signed the contract prior to Stratus making her way out to the ring. When Trish entered the ring she started the talk first. She continued to gloat that there wouldn’t even be contract signings if it weren’t for her. She adds that she has been number one since stepping foot into WWE and didn’t need a punch in the face to become so.

Lynch would eventually bite back and stated even with the badness in her head she has had a a career that Trish can only dream of. She says if Trish thinks barking like a dog was embarrassing, just wait until she beats her at Night of Champions. Becky added a bitch and a woof to the end of the segment which cause Stratus to dump the table on Lynch before running out of the ring.

Elsewhere on Raw we had two women’s matches. First we had Zoey Stark take on Candice LeRae. Prior to the match a vignette aired for Stark which was a nice touch to promote the newly called up talent. The match itself should have been twice as long as they gave it, but it served its purpose.

Nikki Cross did come out to ringside in an attempt to help LeRae but it would still be Stark to pick up the win. She delivered a Z360 and got the pinfall.

The second match was between Raquel Rodriguez and Sonya Deville. Rodriguez defeated Chelsea Green last week after finding out Liv Morgan was injured and the two couldn’t defend the tag titles. The titles have now been vacated and new champs will be decided next week.

This was another rather short match which Rodriguez would win off of a spinning senton in the corner and then the Texana Bomb. Post match, Green kneed Raquel in the head before Deville took her down with a running knee. Shotzi’s music hit and she came down to make the save.

Later it was confirmed that Shotzi would be the partner of Rodriguez in the upcoming Fatal Four Way on May 29. The other two teams involved are Shayna Baszler/Ronda Rousey and Bayley/IYO SKY.

Maxxine Dupri was on this week as the valet for the Alpha Academy. It seems she may have jumped shipped from the Maximum Male Models as they haven’t been too pleased with her absence. Dupri did have a run in with Valhalla ring side but she scared her away. This did help Chad Gable pick up the win.

Dakota Kai Requires Surgery For Torn ACL Injury

It is being reported that Dakota Kai‘s injury is to her ACL and she will be on the shelf for an extended period of time.

According to the Wrestling Observer, it is being reported that Kai suffered the injury on the Women’s Tag Team Championship match on May 12. This is the same match that Liv Morgan has suffered a shoulder injury. Kai is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow.

As for Morgan, she may require surgery, but it has not been confirmed at this time. Kai’s injury is said to have occurred when she was trying to protect an already injured Morgan. Most ACL injuries take at least nine months to require if not longer.

Kai is one-third of Damage CTRL, and it appeared as if the group may have been leading to a breakup with IYO SKY being the one to leave the trio. However, with this injury it is not known what is next in the long run. With that being said, Bayley and SKY will be in the Fatal Four Way tag team bout on May 29 that will determine new tag team champions since Morgan’s injury.

Check back in with Diva Dirt for any further updates on Kai’s (or Morgan’s) status.

Semi-Finals Set For NXT Women’s Title Tournament

0

After the May 16 episode of NXT we now know the four women who have made it to the semi-finals. One of which will go on to be crowned the new NXT Women’s Champion at Battleground on May 28.

First, Cora Jade defeated Fallon Henley to advance. The match opened the show this week with both women seeming a victory. The final moments of the match had Henley rolling Jade back into the ring which gave time for Jade to gather her bearings. As Henley attempted to get back into the ring, Jade chopped the knee which gave her the advantage into a DDT to get the victory.

Jade would celebrate her victory as she and Lyra Valkyria exchanged words standing by the championship belt. These two will face off next week in the semi-finals.

As one women’s match would open the show, the other tournament match was the main event. Roxanne Perez took on Jacy Jayne and came out with a victory. A former champion herself, Perez is determined to reclaim the gold. The final moments had her deliver Pop Rox to Jayne for the victory.

Much as Jade and Valkyria did earlier in the night, Perez met up with her opponent Tiffany Stratton as the two stood by the championship belt and exchanged words. This was cut short as Stratton pointed to the ring.

Gigi Dolin attacked Jayne who was left in the ring. The two would fight to the outside as officials attempted to pull them apart. Dolin screaming at Jayne.

There was a third women’s match this week as Thea Hail took on Kiana James. The women’s locker room was backstage watching the opening tournament match. James confronted Hail and basically said she wasn’t good enough to even be selected for the tournament. James participated but was eliminated in the first round by Valkyria.

The two would go on to have a match that had James come out on top after hitting the 401K.

We also saw an update from the NXT attacker from over the weekend. She took out Dani Palmer at a live event.

Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson had words with Noam Dar backstage. Legend mocked Dar’s talkshow and said how the only talk show we should be talking about is the original. Lashing out with Lash Legend.

Lastly, we had both Ivy Nile and Ava at ring side for the match between the Creed Brothers and the Dyad. Things started to get physical between the two ladies towards the end of the match.

Rousey & Baszler Return On Raw; Rhea Ripley Gives Warning To Natalya

For those that may have missed the May 15 episode of Raw, here is what took place.

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler return on Raw now that they are drafted to the red brand. The team has not been seen since WrestleMania where they won the WrestleMania Showcase. Rousey has been injured prior to that match and that is what has kept them off TV since.

They made their return after one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Raquel Rodriguez defeated Chelsea Green. A match that was supposed to be for the gold that had to be changed last minute due to an injury that Liv Morgan suffered on SmackDown. As Rodriguez was celebrating her victory up the ramp and to the stage, Rousey appeared and kicked her followed by Baszler appearing as well.

Rousey and Baszler tell Rodriguez that they are tired of waiting for a title shot and that Rodriguez can defend the gold with or without Morgan. However, if she chooses not to defend the titles then she will continue to get the same beating week after week.

For more on Liv Morgan’s injury you can click here.

Outside of the tag team division, Becky Lynch challenged Trish Stratus for a match at Night of Champions. More on that here.

Backstage Zoey Stark continues to harass Nikki Cross until Candice LeRae appeared. The two would verbally get into it as Stark mocks LeRae’s “weirdo” family. A match between the two has been made for next week.

Lastly, as the promo ended for Lynch, we witnessed the SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley backstage watching it on the monitor. She was approached by Cathy Kelley who asked Ripley about Natalya‘s addition to Raw and how she came down last week to confront her.

Natalya told Ripley that she is the most dominant woman who has ever held the SmackDown Women’s Title. And that she doesn’t need to continue to kick people when they are down like she did to Dana Brooke last week. She deserves respect which she isn’t going to get running through the division.

Ripley says that Natalya came down to the ring last week not because of Dana Brooke but because she wants everyone to care about her again. Ripley warns her if she ever interrupts her again, she isn’t going to help her career but she will end it.

Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus Set For Night Of Champions

The first women’s match at Night of Champions has been confirmed and it will be Becky Lynch taking on Trish Stratus.

Still dealing with the betrayal of Stratus, Lynch took to the ring on the May 15 episode of Raw to confirm this match. Lynch started the segment by explaining even while being The Man there are times when one needs to reach out for some guidance and help. She states she did that with two legends in that of Lita and Stratus. While Lita was a pleasure, Stratus..not so much.

Lynch would go on to thank Trish, but not in the way the Hall of Famer expected. She would thank her for badness that is in the head of The Man that now has a face and a target to go after. She vows to kick the head in of Status at the event on May 27 at 1PM ET from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

A contract signing between both women is set for next Monday on the go-home show.
